I went to Mom's for a specific item, which according to the website, is sold there. When I arrived, the item wasn't in stock and I was told that the Bowie location is one of the smallest, so they don't have enough shelf space to stock as many items as other locations. That was a bit disappointing since the other locations are not close to me. Either way, I found a good selection of other items. I like the self serve spices and seasonings , as sometimes I only need a small amount of a particular seasoning for a special recipe. Mom's is my favorite go to for veggies and fruit. The quality is worth the price. I go to MOM's for my smoothie ingredients. Everything I buy is of high quality. I bought some oat creamer with pistachios flavor.The staff provided great customer service. The store is well stocked and clean. They will let customers shop before opening if the door is open. This is my go to MOM's for all of my organic and H2O needs. Everyone reading this probably knows what MOM's sells and how the company has positioned itself within the organic food grocery industry, so I will focus this review on a few key likes I have for this location. The staff here, like most MOM's, is fantastic and super friendly. Even though I am a strong dude, without fail the staff asks if I need help taking the groceries to my car. I fill up on the free coffee and tea they provide and it is always neat. If ever you cannot find an item or look confused, it must send the MOM's Bat Signal because help will be there almost before you can seek it. The store is impeccably kept and the restrooms are well stocked and clean. Check out is a breeze because if ever the line gets two or three deep they call for backup, and backup seems to sprint to the rallying call. My favorite item is the tofu "bucket" that is in the cold food chillers. There is a plain white bucket with a lid topped with tongs and biodegradable plastic-like bags. The bucket contains water and the freshest firm tofu blocks I have ever had. Use the tongs to get your own blocks out. Simple, but I never seen this outside of ethnic food markets. Lastly, the self-fill water station is a blessing. I bring in multiple five gallon bottles to fill with regular municipal water that is treated by reverse osmosis, carbon filters, and "polished" by ultraviolet light. Sound like a lot but for 35¢ a gallon it is a steal. The water taste better than those super expensive brands that are all marketing and fluff. They even have an alkaline version that is far superior to even Essentia water. Would that they had a fresh fish fishmonger, but that is not a deal breaker. Five stars for a solid location. MOM's in Bowie is a bit on the small side relative to their other locations (I've been to most of them), but nonetheless still a substantial store. Their hallmark is providing everything you need for any specific dietary needs you might have, and there are a ton of ways to get vegan protein and gluten-free pasta here. They have less produce than a normal grocery store, though it tends to be very nice-looking stuff. This location was a bit weaker than the others on prepared foods in the refrigerator section and protein shakes, but overall there was still more than you'd likely find at any other specialty grocer. It's always a smooth checkout experience, and they'll take your bags to your car for no charge. If you're used to Whole Foods or Yes! Markets, this is better. read more

The manager working on Easter Sunday was simply not friendly or helpful. I felt like she simply did not want to service me and she was very difficult. Firstly, I had 2 returns (1 no receipt) After buying my products I was told to go the back to do my returns. I had a other small items that would likely be equivalent to my exchange amount. So I carried them to the back. When I got to the counter firstly... I spoke to the lady with the locks (in the bun) she did not a acknowledge my greeting. (Maybe she did not hear me) The manager walks to the counter and the lady with locks playfully explained that she was overwhelmed with making coffee and other tasks and handed me off to the manager. I handed her the receipt for the Almond cheese and explained I did not have the receipt for the can of Matcha. I started to take the small items out of the cart that I wanted to exchange for . (Immunity shots and collagen vitamins) The manager abruptly told me that I could NOT ring up in the back DESPITE doing returns. She saw my shopping bags in the cart indicating that I'd already been through the line and I'm sure she saw the line backed to the water cooler. Also, this is untrue because I buy 5 gallon bottles and white caps for the bottles back there + the other Cashier told me it was ok. (I was paying with card so cash shortage would not have been an issue) THIS was the beginning of her passive aggressively refusing to assist me... maybe it was my baggy sweats and unfinished hair on a Sunday morning? Perhaps my presentation wasn't up to her standard for a "Mom's shopper?" Her energy was simply low vibrational from the start. Next we move on to the Matcha, (no receipt) honestly I shop there weekly however I rarely return things so I'm not familiar with the policy. She began to question me about what card I used I couldn't confirm as I had reported a replacement for my primary card. I have multiple accounts and also use Apple Pay, cash app and sometimes cash + I'm in and out of Moms OFTEN. I told her I didn't know and she gave me a REALLY hard time. Almost implying that I was being dishonest despite this item being a Moms exclusive item. She was fixed on me supplying a receipt for this small can of matcha (that was almost full) **I would like to add that the first thing she did was inspect the contents of the can as though she was looking for another reason to not assist me before the receipt even became an issue.** I told her that I've returned bad meat in the past and was not asked for anything... not a receipt or given an apology. She still refused. She continued to take me through the motions. However given the price of my weekly grocery bill I was not willing to walk away with $15.99 Matcha that won't dissolve and tastes like chalk. I asked if a manager could make an exception. She proclaimed that she was the manager and still refused. After I calmly explained that I shop often and given the price that I pay here I would expect for someone to be more reasonable about such a small return as I would have no issue at other grocers and after kindly asserting myself she finally decided to do the return but not before "scolding" me about how she won't do it again. I told her thank you .... she said nothing. I said "happy Easter" before leaving with my cart...she ignored me. This was not about policy it was about a woman with a poor disposition that would rather be difficult, create obstacles and have stand offs with customers. hence my first truly negative experience here. Look, it's not about the return it's about the experience. We did not have to go back and fourth about something so small for so long before she showed any level of reasoning or service. Rejecting me from ringing up exchange items in the beginning was a clear indication of her lack of desire to provide me service and create hardship. Perhaps this is the reason I did not take her refusal to help with the return item as valid. Exceptions are made often an easily for small matters. I've been shopping here for years and I have never seen her before however my experiences are always VERY helpful and pleasant. Thus my need to be so detailed in my review. I hope that Moms takes the time to coach their team about the importance of service and demeanor toward patrons of pricy specialty shops like Moms. 1 star is to catch the attention of management however, I have overall pleasant experiences here yet I hope to not have to interact with this woman again. read more

The best organic market I've been to in the area. They don't carry a large selection of meats, fruits and vegetables but everything is organic and non gmo. They have the best selection of teas, coffee and healthy snacks. They have a large selection of many natural multivitamins, sunscreens, deodorant, face wash, etc. The customer service is always excellent and they even will help you carry your bags to your car! Next, one member of our household is on the Feingold Diet, which eliminates synthetic dyes, flavors, and petroleum based preservatives (and other completely natural foods that are high in salicylates, but that's not pertinent to this review). It's normally a huge ordeal to read food labels, but at Mom's I know there's not that junk in any of their food. It makes my life so so so much easier. I've bought a wide variety of items over the years but the things that I buy the most are bulk grains. For example, it's cheaper per pound to buy quick oats here than to buy a container at a typical grocery store or Walmart. But the produce here is more expensive because it's all organic and high-quality. They even have heirloom tomatoes sometimes. Plus, they have recycling bins for everything you can think of. I saw MOMs was here in the shopping center. The store is pretty small. The produce department looked small but everything looked fresh. Super friendly employees everywhere! 1 star for that. Then you go near the service desk and there;s free coffee, tea and juice to sample and they were good and HEALTHY! Free bakery samples too. They carry Spring Mill bread and they have a reward card system if youre dedicated to that brand. I bought a loaf and it was pretty good. While I don't normally come to this particular Mom's, I've been to several other locations, so I have a lot to compare this Bowie location with. I'll start by saying that I wish I came to this Mom's more regularly! It has the homey, neighborhood co-op friendliness of the smaller College Park Mom's (pre-upsizing) while also being shiny, immaculate, and newer. Although things may change post pandemic, I found my evening experience very dreamy. There were very few other customers on a weeknight, so I could stroll around without a care in the world, read any label for as long as I'd like, and do this for every single product because nothing was out of stock. Every now and then, an employee would be nearby yet never lurk or intrude, somehow only making eye contact with me when I needed attention, answering questions and offering opinions happily. It's like they could read me and respected my alone time doing normal things again. Who were these people, and where was I, I wondered. It felt like I was in a 1950's family TV show, minus any racial undertones. As I was leaving checkout, an employee at another register paid me a compliment, innocuous enough not to be awkward and sincere enough to connect with me, ensuring that I would walk out of the store with a smile on my face. Stopped through with my trainer on our way from the gym. It was a little "field trip" if you will. Pretty cool location for all organic and healthy foods and beverages. I could've spent a good hour hear browsing, but when I'm done working out, I'm ready to go home. I did notice their produce selection is a bit small, but they do have an okay selection of prepared food. The staff was very nice and friendly and no matter what you purchase, they offer to take your bags to your car for you. I love the small market feel, but in my opinion, it's just another grocery store that focuses on organic products. Like most organic places, it's pretty pricey. Maybe since I'm not a health food nut/organic food "only" type of person, I just wasn't that impressed. Nice place to grab a few healthy items. Prices are very reasonable compared to other stores selling like products (natural, organic, whole, and health foods). Often prices will be cheaper. Excellent selection. I was killing time in the area, so I decided to do a little grocery shopping. Almond flour was on my list, so I stopped by MOM's. I noticed that the produce looked nice but there wasn't a huge selection. I was rather turned off by the small bunch of collard greens for $2.99 a piece. The bunch was ridiculously small. At that point, I knew that I wasn't getting produce from MOM's. I was able to get my favorite lakewood organic pineapple juice, almond flour, and Beyond Meat crumbles. This place has ALL the vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free favorites. The customer service was awesome. One young lady checked out the price of some items for me. The cashier was really pleasant. What made the experience a 5 star was the gentleman who walked my groceries to the car. I didn't ask him to do so, but I was beyond grateful since I injured my back earlier this week. Everyone, from the person behind the bread counter to the person checking you out is friendly. And GENUINE. You definitely get the vibe that these are just happy, friendly folks in general and they're not doing it just to please you. As others have noted, MOM's is more expensive than Whole Foods or Wegmans. However, the do have decent sales that give you the opportunity to stock up on some of your favorites. I am so grateful for Mom's Organic Market! My son has numerous food allergies (peanut, tree nut, egg, dairy, sesame seeds), and shopping at Mom's has been a lifesaver. I can go in there and find organic fruit (love the strawberries!), snacks, dairy-free/egg-free pancake mix, and great locally-made bread. The staff at Mom's is very friendly. They will carry your bags for you and walk you to your car. What a nice touch! And, their staff is very knowledgeable about the food products in the store. I always think they will have a bigger selection of fruits and veggies when I go in but they never do. The prices are a little less than Whole Foods but the selection is smaller so there really is no comparison. I was looking for a place that had healthy food but was not the kind of store that is snooty about their opinion about the food they sell. Well, I found it... and its great. Lots / most of the items are organic or at the very least good for you. "The Good" - The staff is great, not only do they know a lot about the items they sell but they know when to approach you and offer help. - Fresh Breads that they can cut from a loaf. - Meat selection including some of the best Ham Steak in the world. - Fresh Veggies and fruit. - Organic and Gluten free choices. - The folks that help you bag also take the items out to your car. Pretty old school and very cool. - They do special orders if you are looking for something and just can't find it. - Recycle center including one for compost from the kitchen scraps if you do not have a compost pile. - Dog food collection drop off. - Pet section including bones. - Health and Beauty section. - Bike stand outside for those that ride. "The Meh" - When checking out one line becomes two lanes. It can be a little awkward when you are standing with a box of brownie mix and the lady next to you has a cartful of items. I think it's pretty safe to say that this is THE best organic food place in the area (Rockville, Potomac, etc.). At least it is to me and my family. And counting the likes of Wholefoods and Balducci's Food Lovers Market, this is saying a lot. The primary advantage of this place is that food is kept fresh without coating and other means that subtract from the benefits of being organic. Thus, their vegetables section is really healthy. Also great are juices and power drinks. Their dairy products are also great, and of great variety. Lots of tasty, healthy choices in packaged food sections. Great vitamin section. If healthy food is concern for you (as it is for many families with kids), this place should be in your shopping mix. A little cheaper than Wholefoods and much cheaper than Balducci, but still somewhat expensive. The meat selection is somewhat smaller, so that's one thing for which we shop more in Wholefoods. But, overall, just a great, super healthy place. read more

And although they are what my husband disparages as a "boutique store" (meaning: look out small stores charge more) on more than one occasion I've found MOMs prices cheaper than other grocery stores trying to carry organic products. Cheaper AND fresher than Shoppers Food Warehouse or Safeway or Giant. It is true that the selection in my Bowie store has narrowed. Items I used to find are no longer carried. I assume this must be because it became to expensive to stock - not enough people were buying it. The grocery business is ROUGH - its margins of profit are very narrow. They're great, employees are always super helpful, I don't think I've ever stepped out of this one without at least one person asking me if they can help find something or assist in any way like carry your one bag of groceries to your car. The cashiers for the most part are good too, some could be friendlier but hey everyone has a bad day sometimes but for the most part good. The place is always fully stocked and a great place to shop. They also have some recycling drop off there too for your plastic bags and batteries and such items which is way cool too. Just went to purchase a couple of items and I noticed that my favorite peanut butter cups were on sale so I grabbed it. When I'm paying for the item it was full price so I tell the person that the item is on sale. He goes and double check the item and in fact the item has been labeled from 5.99 to 1.99. He tries to find the code to mark the price in the system but decides to call someone. The other person comes and verifies the price and noticed the mistake. He comes to me and he is trying to convince me to purchase the smaller version of the peanut butter cups indicating that those were bigger. I told the person that was not my mistake and therefore, I wanted the item that they were showing for $1.99. He has the audacity to say that it could have been a customer changing the tag of the price. Really? I just cannot believe what he just said. I did not change the price nor I believe somebody else did. In business like these always the customer is right. I bet they corrected the mistake as soon as I tried to buy the item. Also, I believe if I would have looked different not I had my accent he had not pulled that card. I've a customer for years and this has never had happened to me. I ended up not buying the article but it was mainly because of the treatment. Very disappointed!!!!! I think they have lost me as a customer. read more

Meat selection is small but choice- farm fresh turkey at thanksgiving **amazing** Recycling center, samples, using green energy, free filtered water in biodegradable cups, sales I could go on and on here! *The trick to affordable organics is focus heavily on the fresh produce and bulk staples (beans, rice, corn, oats ect.), healthy oils, small amounts of meat, cheese, milk products (if you eat that) and stay away from processed and expensive boxed stuff (yes just cause its there doesn't make it healthy!) Some items can get a little pricey depending on the weight, but it only seems to be for certain items such as meats, supplements and some produce. Most of what you need to know to select an organic market has been stated in the reviews, which I have read and with which I agree. Their store is clean, their staff very helpful and their products, well, the best I have ever tasted. At MOM's, I do not have to read labels, because their products are organic, unlike some products at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. They do not sell GMOs because they are not only potentially harmful to consume, but also hazardous to the environment. A crop grown to ignore herbicides, grows in their presence and incorporates them into the plant. Likewise, a crop grown to prosper in a nutrient poor soil, will not release the same nutrition when it is consumed. We all need to avoid GMOs and lobby to have them labeled! Their poultry is fresh and tender, but not ballooned with fat. The milk from grass fed cattle is about the best I have ever tasted. And their selection, for a small business, extraordinary. The price is higher that Giant, but for the same product, lower than Whole Foods, which carry foods, found at Giant, at a higher price. Here it is true that you get what you pay for. If you try MOM's and are not pleased, I will personally be amazed. I would offer 6 stars if I could. read more
