3 because I'm pissed right now. I hit Lidl 2,3,4 times a week. Today they overcharged me for some peaches by charging me for cherries instead so about $2 extra. The cashier, I know they are always hustling and it was busy at 6:15 PM but I know they noticed the problem because I heard them complain " Why does it always do that ? " but did not correct it because it was a hassle and they thought I wouldn't notice. I could also see since this is a system problem obviously that many times the cashier may not even notice so it is up to you when shopping at Lidl .... Purchased two rancid steaks today from Lidl! When I opened the packages at home to prepare it, the odor was disgustingly potent, they smelled like rotting meat. I brought the steaks back to Lidl, hoping to replace it and alert them that they should check the other meats in that section. Unfortunately, I was met with a nasty rude attitude from the manager. Long overdue - forgot to write this awhile back, but my dad recently brought up the store and reminded me of the terrible incident. One of the employees stole my dad's phone and wallet. My dad left them in checkout, and my parents drove off. After about 5 minutes, they realized and came back to the store - it was gone. They contacted the manager, he claimed he had no idea and lost and found didn't help. We figured we try the find-my-phone app, and voila, it showed the phone was still within the store, but towards the back, an employee only section of the store. I mistakenly called the phone before I got to the store. The phone rang, no one picked up, and within a minute, GPS/phone was turned off and that was it. Even with a police report, we couldn't grab ahold of the CCTV and they were lost forever. Despite us telling the store that the phone was pinged at the store, manager did not pursue the lead. Otherwise a wonderful store, this still haunts us to this day, and we just cannot return. read more

I like Lidl. This store is roomy (except on opening day). There are lots of excellent items that would cost twice as much at a fancy grocery store. I would still get most of my produce from Aldi. The household cleaners and personal care items were cheap. I'm not impressed with the lipstick portable phone chargers (but I purchased mine in Culpeper). Pet food was reasonable. If you aren't brand specific, you could probably afford to feed a large dog here! The treats for cats and dogs were competitively priced. There were lots of ice cream, popsickle and dessert items. They beat Aldi on many sweet items (not gummy bears). Beef flank steak and chicken was super cheap. There were lots of other meat choices. The bagger didn't separate chilled items so I rebagged everything at the car. Ice cream was put with dry items. There were unique sauces and sprays (garlic, balsamic vinaigrette). You can get member only deals by downloading the Lidl app. Hopefully, the crowds will decrease after the excitement of opening weekend and the aisles will feel less crowded. Each register lane had 10 or more people and the front area was crowded. The parking lot was totally full. I wouldn't pay for their reusable grocery bags. Bonus points for the free grocery bags on their first day. read more

Love, love the store. When we were the this location was well stocked, clean and smooth self chk-outs. Parking lot was full and place seems to crowded with the Covid going on. We enjoy the selections and varieties of packaged frozen foods.The interiors and signages are something we appreciate 'coz we like artistic touches to them. The store is clean whenever I go, and the customer service has been A ok. I've never had any issues. Besides the affordable prices, Lidl offers many organic items, which is primarily why I frequent the store. The availability may be hit or miss, especially if you're going at the end of the day, so be advised. Lastly, you must bring your own bag(s) or box(es) to carry your groceries out when shopping here. Little? LIDel? Lydell? I'm not sure of the pronunciation. I think this place is as odd as it's name. I'll break it down into a simple list of pros and cons: Pros: Exterior is modern and intriguing. Glass windows, unusual shape, etc. Large selection of items, mostly no name stuff, but the Lidl organic section has some fun items. You will find some gems. Cons: The lay out, especially in the front is odd. Be familiar with the game Tetris, because you'll be playing with other shoppers. The prices don't seem bargained. In fact, most of the items I could find cheaper at your big name food retailers. Don't be deceived. Randomly in the back of the store there's a section or clothes... I mean, I'm not knocking the clothes, just seems a bit odd to abruptly place turtlenecks and leggings between meat and veggies. The presence of a armed police officer at the front is off-putting. I'm sure theft is an issue everywhere, but come on. Maybe they've had tons of produce stolen and have to resort to this. Anyway, it's possible I'll stop but again--not with any urgency though. read more

Brand new grocery store in PGcounty burbs. Looks hip and trendy and a step up from Aldis. Save your quarters, you wont need one here for grocery carts, but you will need lots of patience. Its crowded. Layout same as Aldis. Bakery is clutch... and it will be the sole reason for my repeat returns. Checkout.. lord they move sooo damn slow. Look like can managers yell out bonuses or pay raise to motivate these slow moving cashiers?? Oh yeah they charge for bags here and you have to bag your own stuff and just imagine if the cashiers had to bag?!! Mostly no name stuff but you will find some gems... Produce seems to go bad fast. Update after 6 months: this place is rad. I like their curated selection of goods, their sustainable fish and meat, the fresh baked goods, and the weekly offerings of household goods and textiles. Yes, sometimes my shopping cart contains a mix of organic apples, shampoo, and a throw blanket :) After the grand opening they no longer bag your groceries for you. BUT the staff remain courteous and helpful. I have a kiddo with food allergies, and a manager was so helpful in finding ingredient lists for the fresh bakery items. It's a low-cost grocery store, but I never feel like I've gotten lower quality or treatment than at Lidl's competitors. They've earned my loyalty! read more

See ya ALDI Wegmans, well the only reason I'd go back to either is for unique items but those are far and few. If you have been shopping at ALDI the past few months they have stepped their game up in anticipation of LIDL, "the ALDI killer". And for good reason. Lidl has everything ALDI does for the most part AND then everything else you need that ALDI does NOT carry. The prices are much, much lower for many things, I found myself doing double takes and situations where the price was so good you are making me buy it. Of course the meats are on par and vapor sealed which means it prevents pathogens from entering and keeps your meats fresher, longer. Wegmans is considerably pricier, though I love Wegmans pizza and subs, don't sleep on those, next time your there ;) Anyways ..... LIDL is way more extensive then ALDI, in most cases cheaper or competitively priced. NO QUARTER FOR A CART - FREE BAGS!!! Way cheaper than MOMS and Wegmans for organic selections. It's a no brainer. Unless you have specific favorites that are only carried at another store, you have no reason other than convenience or you like to waste money to go anywhere else than LIDL. Just sayin ----Update---- 11/21/18 ------ update Ok, so my enthusiasm might of got carried away initially. I still stand by my review but I may have to tone it down. LIDL is a solid 4, value, convenience, decent quality. One thing that has gone down is customer service, especially at the self check out. Seems like since opening day Lidl's self check outs do not work properly. Opening week there were staff there to help. Today, people are stuck with a broke machine and after they have scanned all of their groceries they either give up and leave after no one comes to help or they pack them up and go wait in line with a cashier, frustrating. Finally open in Bowie!!!! I am here too early on opening day just trying to find out if this place is a level up from Aldi's or is it closer to the quality and fantastic experience of Wegmans. The bakery is the star here for me. Fresh baked breads and sweet goods are worth the trip alone. While the sticker prices on meats seem low, the price per pound is about low to average. I prefer fresh meats as opposed to prepackaged, vacuum packed meats that are featured here. The store is brand new so it is spotless. While it will not replace a "real grocery store" like Wegmans for me. It is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. read more

So y'all know that these are supposedly like the kin store to Aldi right. Look it up. Something about brothers... Well in learning this, I got uber excited because Aldi is my jam! So I assume that thee L will make me happy too. Yes I was one of those that went on the opening weekend. Yes I'm one of those that signed up for the app to get deals. Here is what I got: The deals are somewhat comparable to the A but a smidge higher. I dig the fact that they have their own bakery, with awesome deals I may add. Everything always looks so fresh. Yum! The produce section is nice, and I dig the fact that you can get thing individually but I have gone and it really hasn't been stocked. They have great meat deals, but get there the day they come out or you will risk not getting them. Use the app, there are sales that aren't advertised in the paper that you can find there...BUT double check. Once I got charged more for something that I thought was on sale in the app. No quarter needed for carts...I believe you have to buy bags here too. Not totally sure as I bring my own. Not sure what's with all the bad reviews. I went on a weekend around 4pm. No bad lines and bakery smelled like bakery to me lol...smelled great. Nice, clean and airy building. Lots of staff and no quarter necessary for a cart. You will need to BYOB (bring your own bag). I like that there's more selection but can seem overwhelming. It's like Aldi, Wal-Mart and Harbor Freight joined forces. If you're like me and get distracted easily, Aldi might be more for you. So much to survey but bargain buys are: baked goods, around 50 cents spices, 69 cents shampoo, knock off garnier fructis 63 cents wet dog food, small like caesars, 35 cents Other highlights is lots of food and treats for dogs and organics are in one section which is convenient. read more

I love Lidl! When they were building I was wondering what it would be. I had never heard of Lidl. You definitely cannot beat the prices for things like fresh fruit & vegetables, CHEESE (which I love), meat, cookies, and lots more. I'm there almost every week stocking up on fresh veggies. They have the most randomest things sometimes, but they are practical! I'm mad I missed out on their ski pants because they were damn good for the price (I couldn't find my size). Ok we go to the Lidl store in Lanham a lot since it opened Mar 1 right when we moved into the neighborhood. Pros prices quality of produce specialty import dry goods and excellent prices. Cons- almost no customer service, rude management, crappy hours closes at 8 pm even though GIANT across the street is open until 10. (Yes we are still in a pandemic) but if we come in at 730 your usually sold out of some produce and all of the baked goods. Remember People will shop later because they still have to work read more

Everyone's supposed to be excited about the new German Store in Bowie Maryland opening September 2018! From conversations I've had with people from Germany they too are excited about this store and how it competes with rival Alde! I'm not impressed though I've been there for the grand opening while it got good business on its first second and so on days. My issue is this store is toooo Maryland Smart! Germany is not Maryland Smart, this store chooses local products and ALL local people! So there your German chain store went right down the toilet with American headquarters in Virginia. Sorry two screw-ups don't make a right. Once the lease ends being a stand-alone store there's not enough special about it that other stores can't provide. read more

Came here when it opened and probably won't return. I didn't like how much of the space was devoted to nonfood - it's a grocery store, for crying out loud! - and the aisles felt very cramped and poorly organized. The whole experience was aesthetically lackluster, which was surprising given how nice the outside looks. The quality of the groceries was fine, but not exceptional. My biggest complaint, though, is the bagging policy. It's not acceptable to have NO option to carry groceries out without paying extra money. You're practically holding people and their ability to feed their families hostage for an extra dollar. I completely support trying to reduce plastic bag usage and encourage reusables, but do what Trader Joe's does and make plastic bags extra and paper bags free, or similar. Or at least put up a sign, so anyone who needs to count every cent they spend can account for that cost in choosing groceries, and anyone who finds it deeply offensive can turn around and leave. read more

This is probably my favorite go-to grocery store at the moment. Only 5 minutes away from home, it carries all the necessities I need for my family. I love their bakery section. I was really impressed with the prices. Then I bought the organic steaks. I live maybe 12 minutes away. Put them in the freezer as soon as I got home. Opened them to grill them every steak was bad. No matter what date I bought them. Then I thought, let's give them another shot..... sick as a dog from the steaks. I cooked them as soon as I got home. Unbeatable prices but staff needs A LOT of work. Customer service is terrible - cashiers are cranky and do not great you OR if you have a question or need assistance you will surely receive attitude and nonchalant body language. Also they have a ton of registers but only 1-2 cashiers at a time with closed self checkout lanes creating unnecessary floods of customers. Make it make sense! read more

Disappointed with the Management team and Customer Service. Waited 45 minutes for croissants last Saturday after being told it would take 20 minutes. Never got them due to being yelled and intimated by the Manager who was working the bakery, and being thrown out of the store when I responded to his 2nd threatening behavior. Bad behavior not only to his colleagues but to me as a customer. Kept his mask below his nose and mouth while packaging the croissants. After deliberately making me wait, got mad because I asked that he cover his nose and mouth before packaging mine. There is a requirement in PG County for face covering. Offering merchandise does not compensate for Lidl employees exhibiting bad behavior and threatening their customers. An apology along with better employee training will.....still waiting. read more

I have been going here since they've opened. It's similar to Aldi with selling mostly their products for a lower price. Cute little grocery store that reminds me of a small Ikea from the outside, lol! The bakery is amazing (mostly the reason I come), the produce is fresh, but the meats having taken a big hit. Today half the ground beef loomed as if it was already cooked! Meaning it had been sitting out somewhere in the store and the workers just put it back in the freezer section to be sold! Smh, not good! The store is also usually pretty well stocked but the last few times I've been, it's been skimp... also there are workers pulling loads of stuff while you're trying to shop and sometimes even blocking the goods and/or aisle. Outside has even taken a hit! There was trash everywhere and the can that's in front of the store was over flowing! How do you forget about the entrance of the store? Lidl has been open for quite some time now and I felt it was time to do a review. I love the prices, love the bakery, love the German items, love the little household items at cheap prices! My favorite item is the black cracked pepper deli turkey. It's best on their fresh bread with lettuce, tomato, bacon and mayo. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that the store looks picked over in the evenings. I assume they have less staff on in the evenings. The service was still good but the store looked like it was going out of business. read more

I just love this place. Ok, it could have a little to do with the fact that they place the bakery right at the entrance. The warm smells hit you as you walk in. The place is clean and organized. I like the mixed selections they have and the "while supplies last" merchandise that comes weekly. Compared to my other neighborhood grocery store the prices are very reasonable. Produce is fresh. There is even a small food clerance section in the back cold section for food that will meet its sell by date in 5 to 7 days. They are usually 30% off. read more
