I asked to make an appointment with her if it was ok with her and we can see how it goes from there. I received a very different email after that. All it said was: Hi, I only see patients in the evening and don't accept you insurance. Sorry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was a very different tone from all the previous emails. It was very confusing. She didn't say anything about not taking my insurance before and she had offer to refer someone. So I am a bit shocked to see this email reply. It made me feel like I was wasting her time (even though she was offering to help...) As a person looking for help, I'm ok someone telling me that they don't take my insurance and everything. But, don't offer to help and then shun me off. It's already emotionally difficult enough to find someone and reach out to them for help.

Avoid this place for a referral…read more I should have taken heed when their Director of Referral, Lois Wedin, initially actively discouraged me from pursuing a therapist referral through their referral service because she said they didn't accept my insurance. Their website mentions that they offer "affordable therapy, with cost adjusted to your particular financial situation", but Lois never even mentioned this option to me. At the time I was desperate to find a therapist after having bad luck in finding one on my own because so many were not accepting new patients or were priced out of my budget. Their service had come recommended to me by two people I knew so I persevered though I would have been better off not doing so. During the intake process with Lois I felt insensitively interrogated by her, but again went through with the intake in the hopes that I would get a good therapist. Once I was assigned, I was let down, my therapist barely said a word during the several sesssions of therapy with her. I would have had almost as much response if I had been speaking to a wall. I pointed this out to my therapist and that I didn't think my sessions with her were helping, but this didn't change her approach. I wish I had found another source for referral to therapists sooner and not wasted my time. I recommend avoiding Theodor Reik / NPAP and going through a referral service such as: Open Path Collective instead where you can choose a therapist without going through a gatekeeper like Lois Wedin: https://openpathcollective.org/

She's an endocrinologist who really gets thyroid and adrenal issues. And she's down to earth and treats you like you're intelligent and deserve to fully understand your lab results. 3.) Empire can do a lot of bloodwork on site. And as a person who is terrible about blood tests, and doesn't like LabCorp, this is great! 4.) The office staff can be pretty hit-or-miss. I haven't had major issues with them, but if you think you've been forgotten or they're doing something stupid, I was warned they definitely are. I've had a couple near misses, and did leave after waiting 1.5 hours for a fasting blood test one day. But an endocrinologist who truly understand thyroid issues and tests Free T3, and focuses on how you feel and your Free T4 levels is the holy grail for so many thyroid patients! FYI, she is in only in the Maplewood office two or three days a week. I usually go Thursdays. The office does take credit cards for co-pays.
