We had a nice view out into the woods. There's a dining room, a cozy lounge with a fire place and board games where you can just relax as a family. Also, there's an arcade in the basement which my sons LOVED. As far as the food, the dinner buffet on the regular night as well as the breakfast buffet was pretty awful. I'm sorry, take it a few steps above hospital cafeteria, people. We're on vacation. But the Thanksgiving dinner buffet was good (thankfully) so at least they didn't get cheap there. The scenic hiking trails in the state park just outside the inn provide a great way to walk off all those calories. All in all, a nice relaxing family get-away. Much needed reset. Friendly staff. Last but not least...Roku TVs! Bring your fire stick and your set up for your own customized entertainment in your room. Just amp up the food quality on the standard everyday meals. Also could use coffee/tea in the lobby. (TIP: The Thanksgiving feast is midday so bring groceries for a room picnic in the evening as there's no food service at night on the holiday, and of course all local restaurants will be closed. We overheard some families that got stuck with gas station pizza at night.)

The owners were super nice, as well as the seasonal folks who took us for a quick cart ride to see the Fallen Rock. This year, we wanted to get away for 10 days over the 4th of July weekend. We didn't think long before we remembered how much we loved this campground! They were so accommodating! We had the same spot of our one=night visit last year. We met many more of the seasonal folks, and their dogs (we brought ours with us this time!) We have already make a reservation to go in the fall next year for the covered bridge festival. In closing, this is the nicest, cleanest park we have stayed at to date. The owners have obviously put their hearts into this place. They feel like family. Oh, and they put on a fireworks shows that rivals the ones in DC!

One of the first things I noticed when I began traveling to Putnam County regularly during my…read morefather's illness and after his death was that Rockville, Indiana is not actually far from Putnam County. While Rockville is mostly known for the Covered Bridge Festival, it's also home to Billie Creek Village. Billie Creek is smack dab in Parke County. It takes its name from the nearby Williams Creek. It's a 70-acre history museum and park with around 38 historical buildings/structures and an abundance of antiques and such. Buildings are mostly mid-19th century to early 20th century. The 1913 Schoolhouse is considered a highlight. You'll likely think of a place like Conner Prairie when you visit, though truthfully I thought more of a place like Chesterfield (minus the alternative spirituality focus). There are three covered bridges (all on the National Register of Historic Places) Billie Creek has an interesting history. It has closed at least a couple times due to financial issues. It was purchased in 2022 and is currently free to visit the buildings (though there are events that do have a price and there's a general store and a cafe in the Gaebler building now). I will note that you can visit from 8am-4pm daily, however, the cafe is 6am-2pm. Buildings include an 1830s cabin, the general store, a village bank (was a 19th century post-office), a blacksmith shop, Burr Mill, Chataqua Pavilion, a doctor's office, Governor Wright Home, a maple syrup camp, refreshment stand (built in 1911), St. Joseph's Catholic Church (built in 1886), Union Baptist Church, and quite a bit more. There are events throughout the year - the website has been redeveloped (I submitted the new link) and is quite nicely done with the schedule. Is accessibility perfect? Definitely not. These are historic buildings and accessibility simply isn't always workable. However, it's better than expected. This is also a more casual experience. Don't go expecting all the scenes and scenarios and cosplay that you'll find at Conner Prairie - this is a historic village that for me is more relaxing, more immersive, and pretty amazing to experience in Rockville (which is, in itself, a beautiful area). If you're visiting the area, Billie Creek is a great stop along with the area's covered bridges and Raccoon Lake not too far away. For kids on summer vacation, this is definitely worth a stop!

Newly renovated building to two full suites. We were traveling as a family, with a 4 yr old and grandparents, and it was everything we needed. The finishings were gorgeous and brand new. The space is huge. Pullout couch was comfortable. Full kitchen, stocked with plates, cups, dish towels, soap, sponges, drying rack meant we didn't have to dine out every meal. For a large group, the two interconnecting suites was great, the kid could wander around, we could have family over to visit in one living room while the kid napped in the other, etc. So happy to have found it.
