Spend some time with Trina and you'll have a night to remember and a night full of laughs. Trina had us rolling in laughter the whole time we spent there. It definitely made our weekend. They also have fantastic craft beer and a great wine tasting. Its a comedy show with some drinks! What could be better than that? Thanks Trina. You're the shiznit!

Concrete blocks with names written in marker and smells of a musty basement, but the wine flows and the entertainment is like no other. The wine likely is whatever is on sale at Walmart, but I promise it doesn't matter. The bartender, Trina, will make sure you have one hell of a time. She may sit at the piano and play a little song, tell some jokes, or pose you for photo shoots. I've been a couple times now and it's always a great time! If you're in the area, it's a must stop at place!

The jalapeno cornbread muffins had a little kick to them with the freshly used jalapenos. Of course we had to get the Bama Slaw which was the perfect addition to the meal. Last but by no means least, was the prime beef brisket and Alabama white bbq sauce - thick slabs of brisket that just melted in your mouth. The sauce brought all the flavors together and it was even good drizzled on the Mac and cheese (I might have poured too much sauce on my plate). They were out of the slaw but were more than happy to make it for us if we could wait 5 minutes; which we didn't mind doing at all. It gave us time to explore the little room to the far left which has all kinds of fabulous things for sale -- towels, washclothes, wooden spoons, local honey, bbq sauce, flavored salts and more. What a beautiful wedding venue. Parking attendants directed us to park in a grassy field. Golf…read morecarts shuttled guests who didn't want to walk. High heels and the gravel road don't mix well. Be warned--an outdoor July wedding at 4:30 in the afternoon is blazing hot. We opted for standing in the shade on a raised deck with a great view of the entire ceremony. This couple provided guests with fans that had the wedding program on one side and their picture on the other. Amidst a pandemic, I'm questioning the choice of fans. Indoors was air conditioned with seating and a bar on the main floor and upstairs. The second floor is a loft with a single row of tables and chairs looking down on main floor. Bartenders were friendly, some of the staff wore masks, some of the time. The air wasn't cooling the building and after a heavy thunderstorm, outside was cooler, so the doors were opened and a huge fan used to get some cross ventilation going. It was actually nicer outside among the tall trees. There's covered outdoor seating and a paved area where many guests hung out. With a DJ playing it was easier to visit and talk outdoors, perhaps safer too. When we returned to our vehicle at the end of the night, we discovered most people parked by us were stuck in mud and the owner was pulling us out with his truck. A little muddy, but no damage done to my SUV and an exciting finish to a fabulous event. AC not working well, overflow parking in what became a muddy mess were the only negatives. I imagine the deluge was atypical, but AC needs attention, not out of their control.

Turkey Run Inn is, as you can probably guess, one of the state park inns. Located inside the Turkey…read moreRun State Park grounds not far from the main entrance, Turkey Run Inn is one of the smaller inns with a relatively modest 61 rooms in the main lodge. Turkey Run Inn definitely pulls off the rustic lodge vibe with a heavy woods decor. There's a full service dining room, Narrows Restaurant, and five buildings with cabin rooms along with five separate cabins. The inn also has more than 5,500 square-feet of meeting space. This was my primary reason for being here, though as I am a government-appointee to one of Indiana's boards (Trails Advisory) we lingered for most of the day and really explored the place. The inn has an indoor heated pool, though it was closed today. It does have some adaptive equipment for those with disabilities. There's also a gift shop here that I found actually quite nice. I ended up buying a Turkey Run State Park refrigerator magnet. There's a cool lounge area, again very rustic, with couches, rocking chairs, games, television, a fireplace (not used if the temp is over 60), and public restrooms. There's a covered veranda with rocking chairs available on the second floor. They have a unique game room, Gobbler's Arcade, open 24-hours (there are exceptions). It has video games, vending machines, a ping pong table. Satellite TV is available, and despite being quite rural there's complimentary wi-fi that worked throughout my visit. I ate at the restaurant upon my arrival. The menu's fairly basic, however, it should satisfy most. I ordered a simple burger with chips and an unsweetened iced tea. The bill came in at about $14. Because I was there with a group, people sort of knew my presence. People were friendly, and the server in the restaurant was quite nice. I did get my always desired refill. I appreciated the front-desk person as she helped me figure out directions - I'd gotten quite lost going to Turkey Run, but had no issues getting back home. The food was good, but nothing stand-out. I'd probably go a bit more experimental next time. I believe they usually go buffet, but I got there sort of close to the end of lunch hour. Still, they were quite hospitable. The Inn has a very nice concrete ramp at the main entrance. There are elevators and lifts as available. This is a very historic building, so accessibility isn't perfect. The lounge area notes per signage that the floor may have dips, etc. (Trust me, it does. Walk/roll carefully). The Inn does have accessible room options. This includes toilet guardrails and wheelchair accessibility. It is pretty basic, but it works. I did find some of the doors a bit heavy. While I found the drive obnoxious, the reward is quite nice with a truly lovely state park. I could easily see myself spending a weekend getaway here. It's also in Parke County (think covered bridges), so lots to do and see here.
