The older lady who answers the phone is beyond rude and should not have a position dealing with women going through struggles seeking help. She needs some lessons in professionalism and to drop her attitude. read more

I was a patient at this practice for one full pregnancy and birth, and *almost* another full pregnancy. - Dr. McGrinder is an amazing physician: compassionate and competent. By sheer luck he was the attending doctor the first time I gave birth, and he helped me avoid a c-section despite some complications that may have required it. If there's some way you can manage to see just him (unlikely), you should! - Dr. Stier was a perfectly good doctor but I only ever met him once so I don't have a detailed impression of him. - Dr. Mondragon was always rude, far too interested in getting me to have a c-section, and on one occasion, she was outright cruel. I saw her three times, and each time she remarked how absolutely enormous the baby seemed to be getting, and that I should schedule a c-section. But in reality my baby was only 7lb 6oz at birth (and I'm petite, 5 ft & 133 lbs at 40 weeks). Here is how she delivered the results of my 20-week ultrasound, verbatim, "There's [a specific anomaly] in the ultrasound, and it could be [a specific issue]. You have to decide whether you want to abort or risk it. I have to rush now. Goodbye." Then she hung up the phone. It turned out to be nothing, but that's almost besides the point, viz., this is simply not how a doctor ought to be delivering this kind of news to a patient. The worst person in this practice, however, is Bonnie Hermans. She is the reason why I left this practice when I was 38 weeks and 3 days into my second pregnancy. That day, she wanted to conduct an internal exam to see if my cervix was effaced. I did not want internal exams, so I refused. She insisted. I declined, saying that unless it's medically necessary, I don't want internal exams. She pressured me, guilted me, and threatened me for a full five minutes at least. She said, "You could be fully effaced and 6 cm dilated, for all you know! What if you go home and have the baby 20 minutes from now?" I told her that sounds amazing. She made a horrified face and said, "But what if your baby dies? Do you really want to risk your baby DYING just because you don't want an internal exam?" It's absolutely unforgiveable for a medical professional to use such tactics to coerce patients into consenting to medically unnecessary exams. I had no complications or history that would have made this a necessity! Luckily, I was able to find a wonderful nurse-midwife to take over my care (Margaret Holcomb - google her) and was able to have a beautiful, uncomplicated, stress-free birth the very next week -- with NO internal exams. read more

When I was looking for a new OBGYN for my third child I met a very loud an obnoxious nurse who said she worked at the Schenectady office and that I should find somewhere else to go because doctor mondragon is an incompetent tyrant who treats her staff poorly and gets off on demeaning others. Although I had heard that she wasn't very friendly, I was unaware that her own staff has no confidence in her. I'm not sure if this feeling is shared by the rest of the employees of this office or if it's even true sine the nursie in question seemed a bit off to me. But just to play it safe I found a different doctor in a different practice and I'm quite satisfied that I did that. I'm not sure what's going on over there but they need to clean up their act. read more

This place, if judged as a compilation of individuals, would receive a relatively decent score. All of the physician assistant that I've interacted with here have been very pleasant. However, this office is so terribly run that I've finally hit my breaking point and not only am switching to a new Gyno, but made the decision to warn others on here. First off, the doctors here are completely elusive- trying to get an appointment with them is nearly impossible and they don't even offer an email address to send complaints/ concerns. That's the number one way for frustrations to build up over time. Secondly, they never communicate costs to patients to an extent that is seems purposeful and manipulative. The most recent example is: They encouraged me to come in to get a re-do pap because of some inconsequential cell stuff (turned out to be nothing) and I, trying to be on top of my health, obliged. They didn't mention to me that this may not be covered by my insurance or that the pap would be sent to two different labs for evaluation or that they wouldn't send my insurance info along to those labs. This is downright insensitive- especially since I am in my twenties, have a low income and am still learning to anticipate what will and will not be covered by insurance. I payed a co-pay and figured it would be covered like it had been with the original pap. To top it off, they have one of the most nasty receptionists I have ever dealt with at the Schenectady office. My friend (who is also a patient here) and I have started driving significantly further to go to appointments in Clifton Park so as to avoid her. And they have some strange rule that they only refer to the practice as "Doctor's Office" rather than "Mondragon-Mingrinder", so I end up with voicemails that say "Hi this is the Doctor's Office, please give us a call back"... great, which doctor's office am I supposed to call? I have vented about this office for years now, but I'm finally done. I encourage you to avoid the process I went through and choose a different practice from the start. I see Bonnie Hermans in Clifton Park and I whole-heartedly disagree with the other reviewer. She is awesome and I go out of my way to see her. She's patient, kind and always makes time for my questions. I've been seeing her for years in CP and I love her and so do several of my friends; her exams are efficient and she makes you feel relaxed. I don't get how anyone could think she is "evil." Even if she had an off day, I highly doubt she was evil. That's pretty extreme. read more

Patient Beware: if I could give Dr. Mondragon and her entire practice zero stars, I would. I saw Dr. Mondragon personally very few times. in those times, she was unprofessional and even mean and insulting. in recommending a remedy for my anemia, she even went so far as to insult my diet based solely upon my nationality. when I was in the midst of an extremely painful labor, Dr. Mondragon was arguing with my significant other, distressing me even more. Dr. Mondragon was the cause of my worst experiences while being "cared" for by this practice. she was cold, callus, discomforting, and at times intimidating. that isn't to say she is the only bad element of my time as a patient here as more than half of the doctors were just as unpleasant, just not quite as blatantly mean. Bonnie Herman was the island of friendliness in this ocean of diarrhea. if you are a woman held at gunpoint and forced to seek care at this practice and have no other options, I strongly suggest you firmly insist on seeing Bonnie Herman. she is gentle, kind, and comforting. if your sole motivator in choosing an OBGYN is always having a friendly receptionist behind the front desk, go to Mondragon McGrinder and Stier's Clifton Park location. otherwise, you will likely regret your time as a patient here. read more

Have been going to this office for years, and have seen almost everyone that practices there. I have no bad things to say about any of the doctors, nurse practitioners, and other staff. I love when I get to see Dr. Stier, or Tristin, they are my favorites. I've always felt comfortable, and cared for during my appointments! read more

I saw Mondragon, Mcgrinder, and Stier during my first pregnancy. The only time I had a good experience was when I was in the delivery room with Dr. Mondragon. She at that point was very professional. Once I was scheduled for an apt, by their secretaries, during the time when Dr. Mondragon takes her lunch. The nurse told me she would ask her to visit me real fast before she went to lunch to get us out of there. It just so happened the interaction with the nurse and Dr. M happened right outside our door so we heard the whole thing. After the nurse asked she said in a very nasty tone, "No, tell them to go get coffee or something." They demanded that after 26 weeks I have an ultrasound and stress test once a week for the reason that my child, who was born 7lbs 8oz was "under weight." At one of these ultrasounds, I came in alone. It was complete rainstorm outside, hail and all. I had the ultrasound and was waiting in the exam room, when in walks Bonnie in the most nonchalant manor. She says as casual as can be, "your baby is not breathing and we are sending you to Bellevue for further evaluation." Now, thank god I am not an absolute moron, because I was able to calm myself knowing, babies don't breathe in the womb, and I assume what she meant was "practice breathing." However, as any mother would I began to panic that my child had died, and the one person who should have been able to calm me could not have been less caring or helpful as she brushed me off and left the room. So I then proceeded to drive myself in the rainstorm, HYSTERICAL to Bellvue, where it took them 10 minutes to tell me everything was completely fine and on track. I truly believe this practice put me through all the ultrasounds, stress tests, and weekly exams for nothing more than the money. Several times the secretaries booked my appointments in correctly. After the first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was me who entered the times incorrectly. After each appointment I make, no matter the doctor, I stand there as any other person with a smart phone does and enter it right into my phone. On 4 separate occasions, I was given the wrong times. Not only that but they were rude to me. They were not at all helpful, would not take messages or assist you in anyway. They simply don't care about their patients I suggest running far, far away from this practice. It is horrendously run, and in general, chalk full of horrendous people. read more

I am a veteran, and I recently switched to Dr. Mondragon after a bad experience with my previous OB/GYN. I am so thankful I did. From the moment I walked in I was treated with courtesy, respect, patience and compassion - things I look for in a doctor's office (but sadly is sometimes rare to find since everything these days is so rushed). Dr. Mondragon met with me before, and after the examination - and answered all of my questions. For me, Dr. Mondragon is the perfect fit. I will continue to see her, and will recommend her to anyone, especially if you have had a bad experience with a previous doctor. read more

Run, do not walk, away from this terrible practice. They will be on their cellphone during your initial consultation. Treat you like a number and not a person, fail to hear or care about your concerns as Shawna will just tell you "we're a private practice and don't need you". My primary care physician requested a copy of my lab and ultrasound records be sent to her office to monitor my pregnancy independently and they said it was too much to ask for from their practice. Staff will never learn to say or show respect for your name as they simple do not care to learn how it's pronounced. You will have to call multiple times to get an answer to one issue without getting the run around. I'm a high risk multiples pregnancy, with risk of heart defects for my children and currently experiencing gestational diabetes and there was no special consideration for those risks, no referral to maternal fetal medicine. My initial ob dr out of wilton was fantastic but didn't deliver at a hospital with a nicu so i had to switch. They were willing to do weekly monitoring of the pregnancy due to the elevated risks in the first trimester. I was told by a former patient before going here that their Clifton park office was pretty shotty but i could NEVER have expected it to be this atrocious and if their miserable demeanors weren't enough their office is dingy and outdated. Do your homework and stay FAR away from this practice. Their Schenectady location has similar reviews if you do your homework. 10/10 do NOT recommend this place to ANYONE because quality care is NOT what you'll receive here. read more

First of all, Dr. McGrinder is one of the most kind, compassionate doctors I've ever met. He always took the time to listen and answer my questions. That being said, it was a long wait to get in to see him. This left me with having to see the NP. The first NP I ever saw was very sweet. Unfortunately, I rarely got to see her and was stuck seeing Bonnie Hermans. It may be a strong word, but I have no other way to describe her, but evil. She brings her personal judgments into her exam and goes out of her way to demean you with a smug attitude. I'm sorry, but a healthcare provider is not your authority, they are your team member. Bonnie Hermans acts like she knows your body better than you do and has no time, patience, or concern for your worries. I left the practice because of her and demanded a formal apology from the office, which I received. It saddened me because the other doctors (all of whom I saw, except Dr. Mondragon) were fantastic. I also appreciated the staff. But, Bonnie ruins the entire experience. I would recommend this practice. However, I would recommend avoiding Bonnie. Then again, I am one person sharing my experience. Make your choices based on your own feelings-just don't let someone intimidate you when you have legitimate concerns about your health. No one deserves that. read more

Decent practice to receive GYN Care (saw NP Jennifer) but not OB Care (saw NP Tristan). There were some positives. Receptionists in both offices were kind and efficient. The on-call NP answered promptly and gave sound advice. However, the negatives ultimately outweighed the few positives. It starts right off with the nurses rarely introducing themselves or wearing visible name tags. And also their policy of following up on after-hour calls based on when they were received rather than triaging them. When you're told on the weekend that you'll get a call "first thing on Monday" and then you have to call them twice to get a response, that's a problem. I felt like google was better at giving me medical advice than they were. And the ultrasound tech was horrible! We felt so rushed and when there was clearly something wrong with what she was seeing she rushed through it even more. Instead of having a frank discussion with us about what they were seeing, we were handled with kid gloves and then given bad news at a later time over the phone. If you have picture perfect health and need a GYN, maybe you could consider this office. If you want a doctor's office that you can trust in a time of need, then look elsewhere. read more

Talk about Evil...I am sad to say, Mondrgaon is just that. I have had the unfortunate experience of seeing her when my NP was not available. She was curt, abrupt, and does not listen. She has this 'power' issue and speaks so disrespectfully to patients and her staff. Bonita and Paula are the only NP's that I will see. They are professional, caring, respectful, and always take their time. They make this practice successful and I will continue going to see them. I would never see Mondragon again. read more
