Today I bought a dress at Monella for $138 dollars. It was cute, no brand, but I liked it. THEN... i went to the Cambridgeside Mall and found THE SAME DRESS for $48 dollars. I can't believe that Monella is stealing my money like that. Be AWARE almost everything you find in Monella you could probably find either at Forever 21 or at "Item" in the cambridgeside mall, at a MUCH CHEAPER price!!! read more

I purchased a $59.00 blouse at the Northampton store. I tried it on at the store prior to buying it. I brought it home and washed it before wearing. I followed the manufacturer's washing instructions as they appeared on the blouse label. The blouse shrunk which I found disappointing for such an expensive blouse. I returned to the store. The sales person said she was not authorized to take the blouse back. I said I would be happy to take a store credit. She could not do that. She said she would have to speak to the manager who was not there. I asked her to make a copy of the receipt. She did and said she would talk to the manager and get back to me. She has not followed through. My opinion is that this store sells high priced poor quality merchandise. And it the owners do not back up their products. read more

This is a fantastic store! All of the clothing and shoes are very chic. The owner is very professional, knowledgable and friendly. As an LA native, Monella is by far the best store in Cambridge. The attire combines sophistication with a titillating edge. I will be patronizing this store often, and will highly recommend my friends to do the same. read more

If Yelp would let me give 0 stars, that's how I would have rated Monella. I have officially experienced the worst customer service and boutique owner ever! I bought a dress here specifically for a formal occasion. As I was packing the dress for my flight the next morning I realized the sales associate left the censor tag on it. Big problem for me since I was getting ready to leave for the airport to attend a wedding. Upon returning from vacation, I brought the dress to Monella to return. Obviously I didn't need it anymore since the wedding was over and I was stuck wearing something else last minute. The owner proceeded to tell me it was my fault that the censor tag was on it...ummm ok...not sure how that would be my fault especially because the alarm didn't sound off when I was leaving the store with my purchase. He proceeded to tell me he didn't believe me that the alarm didn't go off. Basically the owner kept telling me it was my fault, he refused to take the dress back and he also told me he didn't need my business there. I was appalled at his behavior as he was extremely rude and had no customer service skills whatsoever. He totally caused a scene in front of several customers. You would think he would try to be polite, especially as the owner of such a struggling boutique with less than average reviews. I have also noticed that the clothes are so cheaply made. Before I made my purchase, I had wanted to try on another dress but it had a hole in it. Not sure why they would even have that type of merchandise on the sales floor. I do NOT recommend this shop for anyone looking for quality merchandise or polite and respectful management. When in Harvard Square, I would much rather shop at Mint Julep where they have high quality merchandise and the most pleasant and helpful staff. read more

Went to the Northampton store -- RUDEST service I have EVER experienced anywhere. I was in this store with my teenage daughters. The staff and manager (owner?) followed us every minute and were incredibly rude, even taking items we were looking at out of our hands. When we attempted to pay for our over $300 worth of items they refused my check and said, dripping with condescension, "boutiques don't take checks" (we had been shopping for hours in boutiques all over town, paying with checks and had the bags to prove it) and they then refused to hold the items while I went to get cash. When I returned 30 minutes later with cash and asked them to retrieve our items - the manager (owner?) loudly called from across the store "how are you planning to pay" - I stated that I had cash and informed her I had never been so rudely treated in a store. She then refused to make the sale, and demanded we leave the store or SHE WOULD CALL SECURITY. I will never shop here again, nor will any of my friends. read more

If I could give no stars I would. This store is horrible! I purchased a jacket and only wore it out of the store when one of the buttons fell off. I went back a few days later to exchange the faulty product and the woman refused both an exchange or refund. I held the receipt in my hand which states, exchanges in store with in 7 days. She would not take the jacket back stating it "was worn". I explained the jacket was worn out of the store only when it fell apart, she kept repeating opver and over "she could not do anything" she also said she could lose her job if she took the jacket back (which I found really odd and unprofessional). I then asked for her manager and she refused to call him or let me speak with him. She only would take my name and number. She also refused to make a note ANYWHERE that I had come into the store within the return period to return the item (fearing that I would not be contacted with in the 7 days, I wanted a simple written statement saying I had been there within the return period) she stated she would get in trouble making that note. I am still waiting for a return call from manager. My next step will be to get an attorney involved as this store is not honoring their own return policy. read more

Shop here if you enjoy feeling like a burden! The customer service is HORRIBLE!!!! I wanted to support a local business ( I worked many years in a high-end retail clothing store) and decided to buy a pair of shoes in their store, despite having seen them online for the same price. They didn't have my size, but they said they could order them and have them in 3-5 business days. It's almost three weeks later and I have asked for a refund because the shoes never arrived and no one explained/ apologized for the delay. The manager was incredibly rude when I asked for a refund after he lied about having called me about the shoes (after waiting two weeks with no word from him I called and he gave me a "be here any minute" brushoff ). Why should a customer deal with the aggravation of a business that is bothered by their customers, when you can get the same products for the same (or less) price on Amazon? Quietly, with no one yelling at you because you told them you want the product you paid for. PRO-TIP: listen to your customer, be as transparent as you can during the transaction (don't lie or blow smoke), apologize for delays in service and don't ever call someone rude for asking for a refund. Basically, be a decent human. The manager there lacks humanity. read more

i was just in cambridge for a conference and stopped in this store for directions. while there i noticed a sweater on display - the salesperson naturally said it was a wise choice and so i told her i would take one. unpacking the purchase that evening, i noticed three places where it was unraveling - majorly. when i attempted to return it the next morning i was told they were sorry but they don't allow returns. (so much for the other shopper's experience of just missing their "seven day return policy"). this is the first time in my life i have seen an after the fact no-returns policy, and the first time in my life that a close physical inspection of fairly priced prime goods was necessary, and the first time i have seen a store manipulate policy to (mis)handle defective goods and a good-faith customer. i will never shop there again, will not speak well of them, and hope the business suffers a well-deserved financial collapse. dishonesty and irresponsibility reach new lows in this store. i have marked them beyond pricey because in my case they sold defective merchandise as prime goods and refused to stand behind the sale. i was only visiting cambridge and am not a resident of massachusetts, but i'm fairly certain several consumer protection safeguards were violated. read more
