Few shops today are so high integrity, most prefer the quick sale. The prices are not that high when you factor in the quality of the items and the expected number of uses: the value proposition shouldn't be compared against fast fashion.

I didn't want to do that because A I had just bought a new jacket across the street, which was in the tote bag. And B there's no way I am leaving my tote bag out in the open like that for someone to steal it the minute the sales person leaves the desk. Also treating your customers, the minute they walk in the door, like a criminal simply because they are holding a tote bag, which hello most people do today instead of using in store paper bags is not good customer service to say the least. And then telling them to just leave the tote bag sitting in the open unsecured is crazy. Would they pay for my new coat if someone stole it? I get that shoplifting is a problem but treating a potential customer with this broad brush approach isn't the solution. I've gone to many shops and stores and never encountered this policy. I may have bought something in there but I was so turned off by this rude and condescending approach that I just left. MUJI across the street never once asked me to leave my tote bag because they were afraid I might steal something. They were all super friendly and nice and even let me bring my tote bag in the dressing room after counting the number of items I was bringing in.

Also, they can be washed and dried. Full stop. No "tumble dry low." No pilling or wrinkling or shrinking. But they also sell coats now, which are incredible - the Mercury jacket is heated and can be controlled by an app or by buttons within the jacket. The Great Auk is as warm as Canada Goose, with no down, and it's carbon neutral. They're also selling masks which are breathable and have filters.
