The facility is spacious with an inviting room for children, quiet areas for adults and excellent meeting rooms. The Library is clean, organized and welcoming. There is a full monthly schedule of activities for all, both during the day and in the evenings. In addition, the staff listens to the needs/wants of the public and responds by scheduling workshops requested. I have attended various workshops at the library including yoga, talks and a concert, just to name a few. I am very impressed with this library! The library system has about 20 locations throughout the city, and this location in the Oakland neighborhood is the main location. According to the library's website, this library contains over 2.5 million items, including nonfiction books, fiction books, newspapers and magazines, government documents and patents, genealogical archives, maps, sheet music, vinyl records, music CDs, musical instruments, movie and TV DVDs, artwork, etcetera. This library's other resources include public computers, free Wi-fi, printers, photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, meeting rooms, resume and interview guidance, a RAD pass for free or discounted cultural events, etcetera. Since my previous review, I did obtain a library card. During a recent visit, a very friendly and helpful employee named Isaac helped me to log into two databases about grants and foundations. The computer room was large, had plenty of available desktop computers, and was quiet for me to do my research. I feel grateful that this Carnegie Library gives me free access to these databases. For my most recent visit, I attended a free day-long workshop about grant-writing. it was held in the lecture hall, which was a bit of a challenge for me to find, but an employee gave me directions. The workshop was very educational, and I greatly appreciated that it was free.

Quiet space in which was nice to take a moment and relax. The staff, particularly Dan, were most helpful in reserving a meeting room for me to conduct a job interview. Very much took me back 40 decades to childhood memories of a place of endless adventures and timeless stories. Libraries should be a safe space for everyone to explore the world and themselves. It's like I'm in a rental video store, but wait all the DVDs are FREE (to borrow that is)! They have a great selection of DVDs and a decent selection of CDs. I definitely come here for their DVD selection. In terms of their books, I've always been able to find what I'm looking for. They have audio books available and various programs throughout the year. They also have an afternoon and evening book club. It's great in that the book selections are always diverse and they also provide you with a book to read if you don't already own it. I really like that part - b/c although I LOVE reading books, I'm not a fan of buying them b/c unless they become one of my favorites, I only read it once and then it sits around my room collecting dust and sadness. They have a great space and I think it's laid out pretty well. There are computers set up downstairs and upstairs for searches if you need to know where to look for materials. They also have an online systems that you can place "holds" on books, cds, and DVDs - it's like an Amazon.com but for FREE. Do you notice a reoccurring theme with me and FREE - I love Libraries!

This is a wonderful library with friendly and fun staff. We spend the most time in the children's…read morearea, which is separated from the main library. There are tons of books to read and movies to rent, and they have a nice section with computers for more learning. We recently started participating in STEAM Saturdays, and one of our favorite workshops was on airplane science. My son is now obsessed with learning how to make new models and seeing which ones fly the furthest. We also enjoyed the Christmas party, where the kids got to make gingerbread houses out of recycled milk cartons, graham crackers, icing and all the candy and other goodies. Santa was there, along with a hot chocolate bar. This library knows how to keep kids engaged and make learning and reading fun. I'm so glad we have such a wonderful local library.

The library is nice, modern, spacious, and best of all, it is free-of-charge to use these services, and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
