I was refused a simple envelope and denied access to cash solely because I don't bank with them. The employees were rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. What made this worse was that no one attempted to explain alternatives or even invite me to open an account, which could have easily resolved the issue. Based on the unprofessional behavior and lack of basic customer service, I would never consider banking here. With so many businesses closing due to poor service, this location may want to seriously reevaluate how they treat people.

This review is for the Hawaii National Bank Building (not the bank) which holds many offices that I do frequent for personal reasons and though they do have a decent amount of free parking with the tenants in the building does make finding parking here the biggest challenge as I see no one in the bank and the bank does have reserved dedicated spots for their customers. There is a sign in at the elevators for your car so that they know you are a visitor of the building which I rarely do but if you have a very long visit it is recommend to do so but is a convenience so that you're not gonna get towed. There isn't a security and have never seen one so I'm not sure how it gets monitored but there is a constant flow use of folks entering the building. Thank you!

My wife sometimes travels to Japan, and since the price of the yen is historically low right now…read morecompared to the U.S. dollar, she wanted to purchase a modest amount of Japanese yen. My first thought was to go to our regular bank, but after briefly thinking about it, I recalled how complicated things can become just to try to use their notary services. Upon checking, I confirmed that even for existing customers, buying a foreign currency may take several business days. Customers must visit a branch and "reserve" yen in advance, with the rate being determined on the day of reservation, and this service may not be available at all branches. I searched for a foreign currency exchange service and Currency Exchange International (CXI) stood out by being conveniently located in the International Market Place in Waikiki. We arrived at the Market Place just before 11 am, and having read a recent review placing them between Macy's and Pieology, I figured that Macy's would be easier to locate than the currency exchange. That's what threw off our search. There didn't appear to be an entrance to Macy's from where we were, so we had to go out to Kalakaua Ave. to reach Macy's, and the exchange was nowhere in sight. I did try to call the number but no one answered, understandable if the only person there was assisting customers. We went back into the Market Place and finally found it near the "Customer Service" sign and next to the escalator, and realized we had passed it before in our search for Macy's. When we reached the window, the gentleman was assisting a couple. I gathered they were purchasing currency by card, and that they were being asked to produce ID. After they received their currency and left, we were next, and I noticed someone else waiting behind us. At the window, I announced that I wanted to purchase Japanese yen and gave him the amount. He asked how I was going to pay, and I said "cash," and it seemed to be a straightforward process from there. He quoted the exchange rate he would be using, how much he would charge me for the currency, and the $5.00 exchange fee. I handed him the cash, and he passed back the Japanese yen and the receipt. Everything was smoothly executed. Later I had time to analyze precisely how the exchange worked. We were openly quoted an exchange rate, and by accepting, we agreed to it. The receipt had this disclaimer: "The exchange rate used for this transaction may vary from other exchange rates in existence globally." Using a rate which is slightly advantageous to the exchange and adding the exchange fee is how the business makes a profit. After comparing against other published rates, my feeling is that this was all worth it, given that we didn't need to make an appointment at a bank, for instance, and wait for them to obtain the currency. What might have taken days and involved an inconvenient location elsewhere was accomplished in a few minutes by going to CXI and paying cash.

Jesica was super fast and efficient about opening my new checkings, downloading the app & making an online account, and helping me get a new personal loan! Entering the drawing for a YETI cooler at any location - one entry per member per location. I realized that I had never been to this branch inside of Safeway... and it's been here for about three years now? I made a deposit at the ATM and completed an entry blank. The friendly employee made sure that I was a member of the Credit Union... yes! This is a convenient location with free, shared parking! It's clean and bright, too!

I originally opened an account at their booth at the Filipino Community Center when I was there on 5-4-24 for a Yelp Event (Celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month). I saw the purple umbrella, purple tote bag, and purple pen! I was sold! It was free to open accounts! There's a $1 minimum for checking and $25 minimum for savings. The nice staff told me that I could get temporary checks at the King Street location. (I've passed by many times. It's on the right side of the street, before and across from Straub Clinic.) I finally got a chance to visit and get temporary checks! Four checks were printed up right on the spot! I made a cash deposit, so I have some money in my account! Easy! There's a free parking lot in the front of the building. Inside, the purple furniture, air-conditioning, and clean environment is much appreciated! I might bring my cousin here to open an account. You don't need to be an employee of any company to join this Credit Union. It's open to any resident of O'ahu!

Have been a committed customer when I opened a loan through their branch. Granted the fact their business is not feasible to most employed customers with regular working hours, any individual would have to take a special trip to bank at their facility since they are only open Monday - Friday 8AM - 4:30PM, Fridays at 5PM. What bank does that with no weekend services as well. They don't have 24 hours teller services. But I've accustom myself to it because I didn't want to judge so quickly. There have been a few great moments, SOME tellers are okay. It still doesn't justify that their Manager sits right behind the tellers and doesn't acknowledge customers AT ALL! Countless of times I've walked in, she's been at that location over 10 years... NOT ONE HELLO! HOW ARE YOU DOING? Yes, customer service is 2nd rate! Reason for my review is, they've started accommodating mobile banking. Which I thought it was wonderful. I don't have to make a special trip to bank or mail my check to the branch, I can FREELY do my banking by mobile. I had one check where it was address to me & my husband. I assume since my name is on the check it's okay to endorse it and cash it into my account. There were few instances where it was rejected due to not endorsed correctly, but it was accepted okay and I was able to divvy up the money to both of my kids account. Another check comes around address to me & my husband again and this time they flag it, advised it's been rejected because my husband's name is not on the account. He would need to endorse and bring proof of ID and give authorization to deposit the check into my account. It's the IRS check from the government providing funds to the Stimulus program. They treated it like I was depositing a Million Dollars into the account. They advise the first deposit it was a glitch in their system. Do you know how many glitches I had to encounter with their branch and no apologies whatsoever! Just take my business and money, but loyalty is out the door! Although it's also address to me, I'm still not able to deposit. No instruction at time of mobile deposits, no honor system for being a longstanding customer of their Institution, no free pass for this one time service. There is no justification to keeping great customer relationships, especially when i arrived back to their branch and indicated I wanted to close my account. No recourse to apologize, just OKAY! So So in essence, I want an institution that would fight for me, ensure that I am a valid customer, and would go above and beyond to service me. My husband told me it was the right thing to do and leave. He wholeheartedly believed that his own institution treats him with great loyalty and he's ecstatic I'm switching over. Please note: you are nothing but a number. You are never a great customer in their eyes, because you don't yield enough revenue for their company. Their customer service is never ever great. They have teller turn overs constantly. (I should know, I've witness few new faces over the course of the years). You are basically a VOTE which you did not freely give into their Board of Members. Your VOTE is their gain. But hey who cares if they lose customers, like myself, cause they get recognition by using Social Media Influencers who provide content for their advertisements. Ask yourself, will they ever get 5 star review? I mean their list is pretty short. I had very big plans to stay afloat with HCFCU. This was serendipity to connect with their competitors.

I said never mind i would take my monies and go to the other FCU as i had planned! All of sudden this woman, branch manager, told me she would do it as a 1 time rollover. Then she proceeded to lecture me how she was doing me a "favor" because interest rates would probably go down! I know that since i was moving my hefty monies elsewhere! I was doing HOCU a favor by leaving my monies with YOU! What happened to the newsletter? You used publish all pertinent information and hours!

I recently opened a CD at HOCU Moiliili Branch, and was excited since I heard they have great CD…read morerates and customer benefits such as free shredding. However, this was a unhappy customer service experience and a big mistake. I did not feel appreciated nor thanked for the CD monies I deposited. The interest was 4% for 8 months, but not worth the frustration and poor customer service I received. I called on a Monday and left two messages for someone to call me back. The first message was to an oversea customer service representative, the second message I left at the airport branch and someone finally answered after over five rings. I informed this person that your customer service is terrible and nobody answers the phone. He said he will message the branch to call me that Monday. A HOCU representative from the Moiliili Branch called me back on Wednesday at 5:20 - two days after I left my message. This type of call back and customer service is totally unacceptable. Unfortunately, the number for the HOCU is connected to all branches, and I cannot believe that no HOCO representative could of called me back that day or the next. When my CD has matured, you can rest assure I will be taking my money out from HOCU and going to Hawaii State FCU or Aloha Federal Credit Union - where I know I will receive superior customer service and a representative will answer the phone in a timely manner.

This brand new Territorial Savings Bank is located in the Ku'ono Marketplace along Waialae Ave,…read moreacross Kahala Mall. A very welcomed upgrade compared to the previous location one block away. There's plenty of parking. The inside is clean and cool. This is your typical neighborhood sized Territorial Savings Bank with just a few tellers at the window and the branch manager. The teller who helped me was friendly and efficient. No issues. Just a quick in and out. It's very convenient to get to, especially if you're heading out. You just take the off ramp before the freeway and the H-1 on-ramp is just on the same road, a couple of blocks away. Overall, all these Territorial Savings Banks are similar. Convenience is a strong factor for me in choosing which one to go to, and the Kahala branch is very convenient.
