I write this with a heavy heart because I am moving and am pregnant with my second child so Dr Kim…read morewon't be my OB much longer. I love Dr Kim and all the doctors in this practice. Even the receptionists are great, hold times are non-existent, nurses take the time to message me back or call me with all my different questions during my pregnancy. If I get there at the recommended 15 minutes before my appointment, I am seen right away. If I get there 10 minutes late (hey, city traffic) I wait max 10 extra minutes in the room. They tell you up front that this is a shared practice and to visit the other OBs for one of your check ups to get to know all of them. I have met most of them and they are all good, great bedside manner. Dr Kim I really enjoy because she always greets my husband by his first name and never rushes us. Dr Ulrich ultimately delivered my baby at CPMC (which is THE place to deliver in the city) and she was great too. I am so sad to move and finding a new OB for this second pregnancy has been so challenging.

I came across this Yelp page when I did a google search for my doctor's office (needed a phone…read morenumber). I was sorry (shocked, actually) to see a few bad and so-so reviews for her, hence the reason for my post. I'm not going to sit here and discredit other people's negative experiences (believe me, I've had my fair share at other places), but I have to agree with my husband and say that choosing a doctor, especially THIS kind, is a lot like dating. You vibe with them or you don't. And if you don't, you cut your losses and keep searching. I find Dr. Kim to be super attentive, quick (without ever making me feel rushed), on time (so important to me) and genuinely concerned about my well-being. I think she has a great bedside manner that is sweet and comforting, and most importantly, I trust her (with my life? sure, why not.) *Easy parking in this area, b/c you can park at a meter and no, you will not get a ticket b/c your time will not run out.

I am 7 months pregnant and have been coming here for my prenatal care. During that time, I have…read moreseen a number of providers because every time I try to schedule with the same person, they are already booked or otherwise not available the following month. Initially I tried to see the bright side of this, thinking that if I want to deliver at Mills, then I should meet as many of the doctors as possible prior to my baby's birth (in case one of them is on). But I have been pretty disappointed with almost all of them: 1. Devoy: my first provider and the reason I chose this clinic (she was recommended). The visit was fine and I would have seen her again, but she never had any appointments available - and now she is out on a long leave (I was not notified about this even though she was my assigned obgyn). - Storwick, NP: a bit more compassionate than the others, but she doesn't do deliveries on L&D so building a relationship with her wouldn't help much on the day of delivery. I also complained of fatigue early on to her and she wasn't very responsive. - Quinn-Chen: nice enough, but dismissed my fatigue issues as being due to having a toddler at home. I asked if I might be anemic and she said no, based on lab results that turned out to be out of date (she should have ordered new labs!) She also told me I could use the NICU as a nursery after delivery, which I know is not true. - Jurow: awful bedside manner. Honestly, he gave me the creeps! My appointment with him was about three minutes long but I couldn't wait to get out of there. He, too, dismissed my complaints of fatigue and shortness of breath. Oh and he was 30 minutes late, plus he admitted he hadn't reviewed my chart. He ordered labs for me but didn't tell me what they were and acted condescending when I asked a basic question about scheduling my gestational diabetes screening. - Siddik Ahmad: the best so far. She listened to my complaints of fatigue and shortness of breath and was the only person to take them seriously (turns out I have severe anemia). She did not rush me, had reviewed my chart in depth before the appointment, and ordered a bunch of tests. Unfortunately, I did have to follow up with the office multiple times regarding my suspicion of anemia in order to finally get the treatment I needed. Overall I am pretty disappointed with this practice. I have had to be a strong advocate for myself, requesting my own referrals and my own orders (that I was told would be placed, but weren't) and scheduling my own non-stress tests and ultrasounds (which I was told to get by CPMC specialists that this clinic sent me to). There is basically no system in place to take care of patients with higher-risk pregnancies; many times I have had to resort to googling the phone numbers of testing centers where I have been referred, because no one provided me with information about how to get my appointments there. Finally, I had an especially frustrating experience today with trying to get an order placed for my anemia treatment. I had been considering delivering at a different hospital than Mills-Peninsula - a CPMC location. I was told that I should schedule an appt at that hospital's obgyn clinic so the medical records would transfer. First of all, this is absurd because Mills-Peninsula referred me to CPMC for high-risk pregnancy appointments and the records transferred fine, but ok. Also all the systems are owned by Sutter and use the same electronic medical records system. But ok. So today I had one prenatal appt at the CPMC clinic. When I called Mills-Peninsula obgyn office to follow up on that anemia treatment order (apparently they failed to schedule it for me), they said that since I was transferring care to a different clinic they could not help me. A manager got involved and I was told I needed to be "transparent" with the clinic because I couldn't get my prenatal care at two places. First of all, I just had the appt this morning. I hadn't decided if I wanted to transfer care. The clinics are all Sutter; they use the same app and medical record. And second of all, how does this absolve Mills-Peninsula obgyn of their responsibility to finish the job of scheduling my treatment?! This latest experience just goes to show how little concern the clinic has for their patients and it makes me reluctant to continue my care there.

Dr. Dupont is a gem in this office. I absolutely love her and highly recommend her. She gave me…read moreincredible, thorough and conservative care during my pregnancy and I always looked forward to seeing her at my appointments. She is bright, positive, kind, listens well and always took the time to answer any question I might have. She even hugged me when I had been given some scary news (which turned out to be fine in the end). She's wonderful and her bedside manner is fabulous. If only all OBs could be like her. I've since moved to Sonoma Co. and I have yet to find a Dr as wonderful as Dr Dupont. She really sets the bar high.

The Dr. quickly listened to my complaints before prescribing me birth control which, in my experience, seems to be the only thing gynecologists know how to do other than deliver babies. I came away from the visit no closer to understanding what is causing my symptoms and what my options are to improve them. When I asked the doctor "so the plan is to just have me on birth control for the next 15 years until menopause?" She said yes. I hate this option but I currently have no better ones. I'm sure she's great at caring for expectant mothers, but women have a whole host of conditions besides pregnancy and while I understand that our modern medical system does not teach how to treat many of them, I'm hoping to find a doctor who will at least try. I should also mention that after they started me on birth control, they had me come in for a visit to "see how things are going" and this visit lasted under 5 minutes (probably closer to 2 minutes) but you better believe they billed me $257.
