I went here twice on my trip to Denver and both times was very impressed. The amber latte has rich flavor from the spices, but is not too sweet. The inside looked like a cute place to do work or catch up with friends and the service was extremely friendly and helpful. What a cool little spot to hit up. I flew into Denver and took a not cost friendly Uber over to this place to meet my sister. I am so grateful that the latte was good! Lattes are what I always order the first time somewhere. It's just so I can get a feel of how their espresso is and how they make things. If you mess a latte up, I normally don't come back often. This one with almond milk and vanilla was quite smooth and flavorful. They suggested a honey blossom latte. The honey bees collect pollen from the coffee bean flowers and they are using the beans and honey from the same coffee bean shrub/tree. It was perfect! Because it is located under apartments, there is a sense of community. The patrons knew each other. They even knew the lone tree police officer who came in for coffee. They roast their coffee and create different flavors. The flavors taste fresh not the over done coffee shop menu. What a gem for the residence. Such a cool and posh place. Super simple and elegant. A perfect menu with not too many choices. It is not about complicated drinks as the place proudly display a hand picked selection of sustainable coffee from different parts of the world. I get to visit this spot 2-3 x week and really enjoy the cleanliness, the precision of the staff and the taste of the Java. It is good as are some of the sweets they offer. Now, the gripe - late (hot one) only comes in a 12 oz size, sadly I want a bit more ..... welcome to America, land of the "would you like a large for a few dollars more"! The second gripe - it does not matter if you ask for extra hot, super hot, temp is always the same, it's never really truly hot. Overall still a very good spot and I do recommend it! I've come here several times in the past just ordering simple espresso or an americano. Unfortunately the strong flavor was a little much for me. I tried the chai tea latte last time and it was one of the best I've ever had! I also tried my friend's lavender latte which tasted exactly like a lavender macaron. It was unreal. I cannot wait to go back and get that drink. Just know you're going to pay a ton for some really great specialty coffee. The syrups are all house made, including the (gluten free!) cookie butter syrup that tasted incredible in my matcha latte. This review is not a knee-jerk response to a single visit; it is the culmination of a decline in customer experience over time. Eventually, as much as you want to support small businesses (and I do and go out of my way to buy local and from small businesses), if they repeatedly fail to meet their mission statement, you say, "No more. Not worth it". And that is where I'm at. That said, M&M has a 4.5-star rating, which means there are many very satisfied repeat customers, and depending on the time of day, the line is long. I'm happy that others are enjoying M&M, because I want them _-to succeed. So why 1-star? Customer service is a choice. Their business is "crafting" coffee drinks and they have forgotten that. When you are asked to pay $7.65 for a large mocha and then add a 20% tip, it's over $9.00 for a coffee drink. One would think $9.00 would allow you to get some level of customization within reason, but NO! I asked for 3 shots and was told my choice was either 2 or 4. I didn't push back and said 4 shots. I did not point out the obvious that they could simply not let all of the second double-shot flow into the cup. Next, they don't offer 2% milk. It's either non-fat or whole milk. Easy enough to solve, I requested they fill the cup with 1/2 skim and 1/2 whole milk. The two milk containers are right there, waiting to be poured. Sounds reasonable, doesn't it? They had done it in the past, and I'm paying $9.00. The answer was an emphatic NO! Customization "crafting" is not allowed anymore, but the tip screen is still there. What am I missing? Their business is "crafting" coffee drinks. What does the customer receive in return for the 50% premium and the tip? Stymied and feeling that I was becoming more of a nuisance than a valued customer, I left and got exactly what I asked for at the Lone Tree Starbucks (which I was trying to avoid because I love local small businesses, and I am one). I never had any issues when I first started going there a few years ago. The coffee and food were great. Then, the food started to decline. They no longer slice their own banana and pumpkin bread. The food is now average but at a premium price. The coffee experience and customer service as noted above, a possible casualty of their success, has noticeably declined over the past year. It is not worth the 50% premium over what you pay Starbucks. This is especially true when Starbucks will cheerfully customize a coffee drink to your desire, and M&M chooses not to. Customer experience is a choice. read more

Zero stars. I gave this place a second chance after the first bad experience. It blows my mind that this place stays busy with their business practices. If you get a terrible tasting drink, they will NOT remake. But when you try to order one, two, three things that you know you like, they're out of something that belongs in it. When you ask what is in a drink, the employee will point to the menu rather than engaging in conversation. If you ask the wifi password, the employees point to the sign - and don't mention that you have to be on monk public, not monk guest - so if you put it in wrong, they'll act like you're the dumb one (I'm dumb for spending my hard earned money here not once, but twice.) They also don't have changing tables in the men's restroom, an added annoyance. This is such a great location with big windows, it pains me that the employees aren't kinder and customer service oriented. I wanted to like this place so much, but now I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to go here. read more

Got a 22oz iced americano, half decaf, with a splash of oat milk and their "amber" syrup. Had I not gotten the "amber syrup" which is a glorified mix of cinnamon and something else, I feel like I would have liked the actual coffee better. The ambiance seems really nice and a lot of business professionals/students stay posted up here to get work done. The staff was very friendly and approachable. While the coffee and pastries are good I nicked them a star for being what I consider over priced. They only offer one coffee size 12 oz. As an example I ordered a mocha which I was told contained 2 shots of espresso. It cost about the same as Briccys in Castle Rock for a large 6-espresso mocha. So while Castle Rock is a long way to drive from Lone Tree for a coffee I have to say the Mongoose is taking overly advantage of being the only coffee shop in the area other than the corporate coffee of Starbucks. read more

I've been the to the other Monk & Mongoose a bunch of times but first time into this location, tucked back behind the hospital and some nice condos/apartments. A few things are certain at both locations- a hip vibe with this rustic-modern interior, kind and friendly baristas, fresh roasted and ground coffee and in-house made syrups. I stuck with a fresh roasted coffee. A simple cup says a lot about a place- well balanced, perfect temperature, not burned but smooth. They didn't disappoint. For my daughter, she goes for the more traditional big brew drinks and paired a cold latte with 1/2 mocha and 1/2 caramel syrups. It was flavorful and not overly sweet, rich and delicious. **This location has a variance to be open under the state's new COVID rules, as of 12/29, and also has two outdoor igloos for outdoor eating/drinking. read more

I love this place! The atmosphere is a little loud and it's usually pretty lively. The decor is a mix between industrial/modern and a touch of rustic. They've got tons of seating, a cute fireplace indoors and igloos/ fire pit outside. They also have a great selection of drinks and some pastries to choose from as well. You can find your usual drip coffees, lattes, americanos and cold brew here along with some different in house made flavors like butter pecan, lavender or amber. FINALLY! Lone Tree has a legit coffee shop serving up a solid cup of joe. The shop is clean, super crisp and minimalist which is my type of shop and they're serving Sweet Bloom beans which is another reason to check this place out. There is ample seating and a nice area in front of the fireplace to keep you warm and cozy during the winter. The cortado is damn fine and goes down smoothly. The iced latte served with their house made vanilla syrup is flavorful and has the perfect amount of espresso and vanilla. Gourmet Coffee...yes indeed. I cannot tell you enough that the coffee here is phenomenal. A coffee shop is only as good as its baristas, well they are all amazing here and make your drink with care. 4 stars because the morning I went, regular Tuesday at 9am, seating was very full and I couldn't find a place to sit. I wanted to get some work done, but unfortunately I couldn't find a seat. I'm not sure if it's always like that, but was bummed I had to run in and run out. Prices are also a bit high in my opinion, but it's gourmet so I guess it's worth it? I already feel like Starbucks is a rip off knowing that it only costs them cents to make a late, so when a place is even pricier it's hard for me to justify paying more. I wanted to buy a bag of coffee but was also surprised the price for just a half pound bag. Overall, I'll be back and I'm not sure I've had a better cup of coffee in the Lonetree area. Stumbled upon Monk & Mongoose Gourmet Coffee and it is a trendy little coffee shop in a nice town center. Admittedly, we chose this one over some other coffee shops because of the name. Good on ya, branding folks. The shop itself is super cute inside with a ton of space for those needing a place to work, study, chill, etc. They had some patio seating as well and it looked like there were a couple of garage door type of walls that can be opened up on nice days. A nice space with some good coffee too - I went for a nice cold brew on the first semi-sunny day that we were in town. That perfect subtle cold brew flavor was exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking for a perfectly brewed tea ranging from white to black, come here! They take it seriously with pots that brew to specific temperatures and brew times! You will not get a burned white tea here as you where almost everywhere else. Only reason I couldn't give them 5 stars is the baked goods and lattes were hit and miss. First vanilla latte was perfection: strong with a deep caramel-vanilla flavor reminded me of creme brûlée. The second was lukewarm, watery and had little vanilla flavor. I felt awkward about requesting a remade one because it was really busy at the time I was served but I got the vibe they'd remake it. One note is that when this place is busy it gets L O U D. My Bose Noise Canceling headphones could barely block the edge of volume. But the people who work here are friendly, great, and enjoyable! read more
