DO NOT RENT SPACE FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!
Especially if you are a calm, respectful, dignified person who wants to be treated in the same fashion that you present and not be JUDGED. I rented space there to conduct a fitness class on 10/26/2019. Both my client AND myself experienced being spoken to by Dena in a condescending and passive aggressive tone. I also was physically threatened by hand gestures from Dena
The day of my class, my client was little confused locating the room where the class was held. Dena saw her and directed her to the correct location however was not pleasant in her tone or verbiage. After the rude interaction with Dena, my client expressed to me that way she was spoken to by Dena made her feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed.
Once Dena escorted her to the room where i was, I saw the look of dismay on my client's face as Dena walked her into the room. Once Dena saw me, she then greeted me in which she spoke down to me with clear disgust. Which in turn made me feel unappreciated as a CUSTOMER who paid to rent space and but as a subordinate who works for her instead. Which definitely is not the case.
Shortly after I went to the main room to ask Luke if Dena was available so that i can talk to her about the verbal exchange. Luke informed me that Dena was teaching class. I told Luke that if she was teaching it would be fine i can contact her another time. I continued to teach my class as planned then made sure the space was in the same condition as it was when i found it once my class was finished
After class, Luke came outside in the hallway and asked me what was wrong--suggesting that it possibly was about him that was the reason i wanted to talk to Dena. I reassured him that, he was wonderful and i wanted to speak to Dena about the verbal exchange her and I had prior to the start of my class. Luke looked worried and stated he would get Dena out of class---i reminded him again that it was ok, i would contact her during the week. About 2 minutes later, I saw Dena come outside her classroom, which is when i took the opportunity to speak with her.
As i approached Dena, she was immediately on the defense and appeared annoyed. I calmly and politely explained to her my feelings about the verbal exchange she had with my client and myself. I explained to her as a customer of hers and a customer of mine --WE should not be made to feel less than what we are. There is a way to speak to people. A proper tone to address people. Dena in an aggressive tone abruptly cuts me off and said to me "what do you want me to do? kiss your feet" along with other inappropriate comments. This is an UNACCEPTABLE response if someone is having a conversation with you. Everyone has the right give feedback and receive responses that are respectful.
After realizing that Dena was not approachable, defensive, disrespectful, condescending and patronizing in a way that was disgusting to say the least. I asked her to check the rental space to make sure that it was back to their standards bc this was going to be the last time i rent space there. Dena still speaking many unpleasantries checked the space and looked as if she still wanted to argue with me. However, i remained calm. Dena continued to be aggressive with her tone. When Dena saw that I would not engage in an argument with her she then proceeded put her hands in my face..... SEVERAL times which proved to be a physical threat to my face.
In conclusion, there seems to be a certain demographic that Dena perhaps likes cater her business to. As a small minority business who treats everyone with respect and speaks to people with couth and tact---i can not see any other reason why I ( and my client) was treated the way we were. The explosiveness that Dena exhibited was immature, emotionally unstable and crass. Customer Service 101 totally is lacking with this woman. I hope the $50 she made off me renting the space spreads widely bc i am going to write on every social media platform and rating site that i can get my hands on bc what i experienced today was unnecessary and extremely uncalled for. read more
