We had our kiddo…read morethere (he started a little after 12 months), and there was a range in the quality of teachers like at most other daycare. I did notice some teachers in the older kids' classrooms sharply yelling/screaming at kids from time to time (not what I wanted for our kiddo, but he wasn't in that room, so it was a "cross that bridge when we get to it" situation). The problem was the purposeful lack of communication and withholding of information. The director and company knew their lease was up. They knew their new space wasn't finished yet (literally not built, and no occupancy permit). They knew in January it wasn't going to be ready and ended up asking for lease extensions for about 4 months. They never told parents about this tenuous situation; it was always just, "oh, we'll be moving in [insert new month]." Not a word that construction wasn't even going on at the new place because BUILDING PERMITS hadn't been issued, and that they had no other backup plan. Well, the lease extensions ran out entirely and the building owner told them they had no more extensions and had to vacate. Did they tell parents? No. They waited until there was just 2 weeks before abruptly telling parents their only Pittsburgh location was closing. Oh, but we could request to be put into one of their suburban locations, the closest of which was 30 minutes+ each way with traffic (and at least 45 minutes driving near the end of the day because of rush hour). So, at least 2 hours each day of driving to/from daycare; out and back, out and back. Even getting a straight answer from them about which suburban location they'd place my son at was a nightmare. We had no other option, because they purposefully waited so long to tell us parents what they had known for months. We did the 2 hour drive for two weeks to see if it would work, while frantically searching for other daycares with open slots. The suburban location also treated anyone from the city like a second class citizen. Suburban staff acted like the Pittsburgh kids weren't their problem, they were just taking up space; it really seemed like there had been no planning or communication about the Pittsburgh kids coming. NO PLAN for parents to sign kids in and out; wouldn't let us use the electronic sign-in/sign-out system the suburban parents got to use, wouldn't give us door codes like we had at the other location and like they had for their suburban parents (until Pittsburgh parents repeatedly complained), no bins for kids to store stuff like extra clothes (and they literally had empty bins in my son's room; I heard a Pittsburgh teacher politely ask if they could use them for our kids since they were empty, and she was VERY FIRMLY shot down, "No. You CANNOT use them." No explanation.), not enough hooks, etc. for coats/hats/mittens, and they crammed all the Pittsburgh kids into one classroom regardless of age: infants, one year olds, and older toddlers all in the same room. Napping was a nightmare. I felt so bad for the Pittsburgh teachers. All in all, I wouldn't trust this company or the Pittsburgh Director (Maggie) again. The two stars is only because we had one excellent teacher who we really liked and miss. Hilarious note: the company employee's five star post was posted AFTER they closed this location.

Her communication is absolutely horrendous and extremely unprofessional. An alleged abuse incident involving my child and his behavioral tech occurred at the facility and was reported to DHS by daycare staff. Yet, Maggie - the director - never called us to tell us this happened. We only found out because DHS called us to come to our HOME and investigate. When we questioned Maggie about it she said, "I didn't want to bother you with it". Are you kidding me?!?!? Whether this report was unfounded or not, we - the parents - should have been notified. That's communication 101. This is just one example of her poor communication but I have an entire list. *Also... people who have been accused of child abuse work here. Leadership will tell you it's unfounded / retaliation between disgruntled teachers and maybe that's truebut I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

When he came down with a respiratory infection they checked on him daily to ensure he was okay. I am elated to see other parents walking out happily with their children as well. The teachers have always been very warm and attentive to both our daughter, and all of the other students. We receive pictures and videos throughout the day to update us on how she is doing, and a daily report soon after we pick her up. The only complaint I have ever had is that they do tend to respond to calls or e-mails relatively late, but that's because they're attending to children all day. On top of that, the staff is available to talk anytime you pick up or drop off your child, so response times really aren't a problem, at least for me. The building is also very secure, which is great. Nobody from outside can get in without a fingerprint scan or the parents contacting the school in advance, and the administrators are good about making sure the door stays secured. I really can't say enough about the teachers though. Our daughter is in the three-year-old classroom, and the teachers are always incredibly welcoming when she comes in. If she's having a slow morning and feels shy, the teacher sits with her until she feels comfortable. And when the school does events with parents, which I'm sure can be stressful on the staff, they never let that show; they're always as warm and attentive to the kids as ever. After moving to the area over the summer, we spent several weeks touring different facilities before coming to this one. It's a little bit out of the way for us, but we have no regrets whatsoever. I would highly recommend them.

I am 110% pleased and satisfied with the exceptional level of care here. My kids are ages 2 and 4, and I have been at Allie the whole time. The teachers genuinely care about the kids, and Allison is extremely accommodating to parents' schedule changes and needs. There is a personal touch here, which often lacks in the corporate franchise facilities. Seasonal festivals and late nights are offered regularly and allow for parents to either enjoy socializing at the school with their children or enjoy a few hours of adult time. New housing developments are exploding in the area. If you are relocating or moving to the area, don't let a bad review keep you from checking this place out and seeing for yourself. You will FEEL the difference the moment you walk through the door of this locally owned and heart filled center.

C&M daycare is bright & cheerful, clean, modern, well staffed, known as the daycare of the…read morePittsburgh Pirates. The staff is attentive & caring. It follows state laws carefully. But is it right for your child? My grandson did not hit, kick or bite others, didn't call names. He just didn't always listen. He was 2 going on 3 when C&M marked him as an issue. He was very "busy", into everything. If this is your child this daycare is probably not for you. If your child is a little more active or curious, in other words, a little more "work", take note. He was this active child. (Note: he only attended 2 days a week) C& M told my daughter they needed to have him evaluated for ADHD when he was 2. My son-in-law took him to his pediatrician when they suggested there could be developmental issues. The pediatrician found him to be a busy 2-year-old. After turning 3, and after episodes of "undesirable" behavior, they again suggested 2 doctors. If they did not comply he could be expelled. They took him to one of the doctors, a pediatrician, and was told by this doctor he was "not impressed" with what he saw meaning he did not think he had ADHD, that he was typical of a boy at his age, albeit busier than most. They also were told a good evaluation couldn't be done until he was at least 4. His "undesirable behavior" continued, from trying to remove a screen from a window, trying to exit, ñthe classroom, and not always participating in class activities. Things got fast-tracked when near his 4th birthday he stopped napping. He had to sit quietly on his cot during nap time if he wasn't going to sleep.5 It was an issue because if he was out of his cot, one of the two teachers couldn't take a break as mandated by the state. His parents met with the owner and a behavioral specialist at the school, to come up with ideas to keep him occupied during nap time. This time C&M told his parents they had to take him to a child behavioral psychologist, again with the same explicit threat of expulsion. C&M provided the doctor/practice name and warned that they likely wouldn't get an appointment for 6 months. In the interim, my grandson had his 4-year well-child visit. My daughter told the pediatrician what had been going on. She asked my daughter which daycare he attended. My daughter was shocked to find out the pediatrician had considered sending her child there, but after having received so many behavior evaluation requests from parents whose children went there she decided against it. The parents then were told that C&M was not the place for my grandson, that they hadn't done what was recommended and failed to keep C&M up to date on what was being done. Note that my daughter had just delivered a new baby (they probably were a little busy, right?). They further accused my daughter and her husband of speaking badly of the daycare, but wouldn't say who accused them. They were shocked to hear this. Essentially they expelled him because his parents supposedly talked badly about them. Even though his parents kept the appointment with the psychologist the psychologist was bewildered as to why they were there as he did not specialize in ADHD but autism. His ruling: My grandson definitely is not autistic. He has some ADHD characteristics but at his young age it is difficult to diagnose. He can be re-evaluated when he is older, like 6. He now attends a Christian daycare and is doing very well. He is not labeld. They simply re-direct & work with him. He is at a place where children are not problems, but blessings. Update: after this review, my daughter received a letter from C&M's attorney threatening a lawsuit if I did not take it down within a week because of inaccuracies/misinformation. When asked for what inaccuracies/misinformation were in the review it has been over a month with no answer. They took very little time responding to my post but very slow in the follow up so I am going to assumew, after a month have still not heard., the letter was a tactic they used to handle a partly negative post.

There is a large room, divided in two. One side had tables set up, the other was free rein for kids to jump on a trampoline or bounce house along with many other toys. Something for all ages. We don't attend this daycare but it looks like a great place. The staff was nice and very helpful. Plates, silverware, napkins and tablecloths were all included.

This is a highly dysfunctional and verbally abusive environment. The staff do nothing but yell at…read morethe children to enforce a structure that is not healthy for a child's development. The children are forced to sit in squares next to each other, and are yelled at if they play with one another or chat with one another (something that is extremely important for a child's development). They have limited playtime, during which they are forced to go from one station to another (a station might be legos/blocks, pretend kitchen, etc.) and they get no more than five minutes to play before they have to clean up and move on. Consequently children in this environment have poor conflict resolution skills (because all the adults model to them is yelling at them). Do not send your children to these people.
