The SFS city rep helps you with every question you have. They also offer a lounge for junior high and high school students to hangout. There's all kinds of activities for them to relax and hang out with friends after school. They always have a staff on floor to monitor them. That's pretty cool. Wished I had that available when I was a kid. They offer a lot of classes for resident and non-resident. I can't express how much I love this city :)

We saw a rare Gloria Swanson silent film along w a talk by a brilliant film historian. Every show opens with a little performance but we were lucky enough to see a silent film which means that the organist live scores the entire film just as it would have been done in the 20s ! Such a special experience, and a must for any fans of music, film, and LA history.

I'm constantly going to revival and old theaters like The Egyptian, New Beverly, and Aero theatre and wanted to add this one to the rotation. Essentially, they transport you back in time to the early 20th century when movie theaters started taking off! And not just about the old films they show, we're talking OG Dr. Pepper in a glass bottle and lobby cards and photos on the wall. A giant Wurlitzer organ where our organist started off the night's festivities with a few words of history and a few songs on the organ. We even did some sing-alongs lol. Everyone in the red vests are volunteers keeping this running. You can sense the deep passion they all have for preserving this history and a deep love of cinema. Got a brochure calendar for showings through June and will now make sure I come out at least once a month.

This is regarding the Building Section. We purchased a single family home in Azusa and want to do…read moreeverything permitted and to code, which we expected the City would gladly support. In the Fall of last year, it took multiple calls to get John out to the residence to inspect. He kept canceling or not showing at all. We seemed to be putting him out whenever we asked for documentation. Finally, we had to go down there in person and talk to the Building Official to get anyone out. I figured it was a one-off and moved past it. Now we have a wonderful subcontractor who has installed a central HVAC and we're reliving the same hell from Fall. And yes, we have Inspector John again. He makes an appointment and then claims at the last minute "we're not on his route." WTF? After scheduling time off work and childcare for the two young kids AND the subcontractor who is present to answer any technical questions. I'm writing today because it is evident that a) this isn't a "one off" and the City truly needs to do the right thing and make it less painful to be code compliant, and 2) it is evident that the Building Section has forgotten their fabled mission statement. Perhaps this level of service remains allowable because being code compliant isn't a choice. It is unfortunate that they practice striving to the lowest standard of service. Let me take the time right now to remind them of it... It is an honor to have lived in Temple City for so many years and be the first to review my home town. Yes, every little city has a little bit of crime and rift raft but compared to most cities in the county, this is one of the safest cities to live in. I can't say there are lots of things to do here but that's better in my opinion. Less traffic running through my town so I can get to my own destination. Just don't speed through my town or you would sure to meet a Temple City Sherriff. They aren't traffic cops but they will write you a ticket for your wrong doing. Also, one last tip, there are no overnight parking on the streets of Temple City. You'll get a warning the first time, a parking ticket the next time, and your car towed after that. They do have overnight parking permits at the little City Hall for sale 24 hours at a vending machine.
