Well, whenever I walk past Next's flagship store in central Manchester I imagine him ranting and chuckle out loud. It's not that Next is worse than other global brands, it's that this gigantic shop aims to sell everything idyllic couples and families could need from beds, comforters and lamps to dining tables, chairs, sofas and rugs. The majority of it looks bland and forgettable but the fact it's in neutral colours and restrained patterns means it probably flies out of the store. For those desperate to buy into the whole Next brand / lifestyle, there's also two floors devoted to casual, smart and evening womenswear, menswear and childrenswear. If I was the kind of girl that looked at catalogues and imagined buying a matching dress and kitchenware, I'd probably enjoy shopping here. As it is, I find it a soul-less and ungratifying experience. To paraphrase Tyler: "I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say....let the chips fall where they may."

I loved the fact that they do not buy in bulk and you view each garment as a "piece" rather than simply clothes. Prices are moderate, slightly more than high street chains but you don't mind paying £60 for a unique Nood creation as opposed to £45 for a high street clone. Colours are bright and fabrics are great quality. Recognisable names such as Religion get into bed with new designer wares. This is no run of the mill ladieswear. A new range of gorgeous dove grey vintage inspired oilcloth bags and cute jewellery are also available to compliment your outfit. Open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am -6pm, Nood also opens its doors on a Sunday (12-5pm)- very handy for weekday nine to fivers. So did I buy the butterfly dress? This longevity is testament to the enduring talent of owner Alison, who has continually offered an eclectic mix of clothes, accessories and shoes from her own portfolio as well as interesting ranges from other designers like Religion, Gash and Get Cutie. It never feels stagnant in here, she keeps it fresh and all the accessories, bags and belts are so different to what you'd find on the high street. The ground floor was actually pretty organized this go round but it's really hard to find an employee to assist. One issue is possible because the employees look just like a regular shopper so you are unsure who to ask except the cash register individuals. The escalator going to the second floor was broken, so you will have to walk unless you can get on their elevator. On the second floor they also have self checkout and exchange and return registers. When I was asking an employee a question that was at the exchange/return counter, she was really on edge which I am unsure why. She finally just dismissed me and told me to go to another counter to check out since the self checkout machines cause so many issues. All I needed was an employee code to proceed with taking the locks off. Went up to floor three and the cash register employee that assisted me was so sweet and helpful! Normally I love Zara's for odd and end pieces but this one could work on customer service and working with finding a way to help the layout more shopper friendly.
