Factoid of the day. My mother bought me a dress from Monsoon when I was thirteen years old. I still have it, thirteen years later. Not only is this proof that I don't have the tendency to gain weight, it's also proof that Monsoon is a quality clothing store. If you're a fan of boho chic like myself, Monsoon will be right up your street. For high street clothing it can get a little pricey, but the sales are never disappointing. The children's clothing is simply adorable, in fact a good friend of mine who got married recently had three little flowergirls, all of whom wore Monsoon dresses. The reason I mention this particular branch is a) the King Street location (King Street tends to be quieter than the Arndale and thus makes for a more pleasant shopping experience) and b) the building in which it resides is very attractive. It might not be the largest of Manchester's Monsoon stores but I certainly think it's the prettiest. For hippy-esque looks with a sophisticated feel (which considering the kind of hippy I claimed to be as a teenager seems like something of a contradiction in terms) Monsoon is definitely your best bet. read more

There kind of similar in nature to body shop, it's multicultural theres lots of colour, theres lots of patterns, nice fabrics. People and products are ethical so the right people are treated correctly. You see far eastern flavour in most things, its all about the Indian style. They don't just do clothes you'll be pleased to here!! Yes monsoon trades in bed sheets and stuff like that as well!!! Monsoon is one of those feel-good companies that started small and has slowly grown into a much bigger company with literally hundreds of branches. Throughout their boom years however, they seem to have stayed true to their roots producing and selling ethical and environmentally friendly fashion for women. For the last 15 years they've also been supporting disadvantaged women and children in Asia through the Monsoon Trust. This branch is the original Manchester branch of Monsoon and is housed in a charming building a short walk from Deansgate. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful and the clothes are modern and colourful with a strong Indian / hippy / bohemian style. I've only bought a few pieces here but regularly pop in to see if there's anything new my mum or auntie might like. This is a beautiful store. The Facade has original features in black and white and the three storey building retains the character and windows. Inside there is a sea of colours and currently a fantastic range of dresses, beachwear. accesories and footwear. I love the maxi dresses that are in fashion now. The staff are really helpful and nothing is too much trouble. read more

To me this is a bit of a hippy style shop! They sell clothes and most of them are floaty and tye-dyey with colours mixed together. The clothes are very nice don't get me wrong, but I do find the prices a bit steep sometimes, although im sure it is a case of you get what you pay for, you can buy cheaper and just as nice elsewhere. There are always lots of nice dresses, suitable for summer or parties equally. It does also sell accessories like scarves, shoes and jewellery. read more

This is one of the worst shopping experience we had. Since I have a little girl on a buggy, the door was half open when we tried to drag ourself in. And there is two staffs gossiping near by , and no one is willing or even noticed us, to open door for us. When we find out the baby and kids wear are downstairs, I just said to the girl, 'that is not helpful' at all, and she replied, 'we are a listed building...etc' What does listed building got to do with the convience of a store? I asked why can't you merchandise the baby and children's clothes upstairs instead, and she said it's a matter of opinion? So if you got a pram, just don't go there, cos you are not welcome there. And to top it off, the staff who were gossiping in the corner, they are still gossiping. So if you wanted any help in this shop, just don't go. read more
