I have visited several times for alterations and have not been disappointed by the work of the seamstress there. The tailor asked me if I wanted a hand-tailored suit. I was reluctant to say yes because of the reviews of others on this site. I finally relented to have him do a blue blazer for me, which he offered at a great price. I was not disappointed. It fits better than any other suitcoat that I have. He also added a faux pocket handkerchief in the breast pocket and put my name inside the blazer in nice script (I had requested neither so these were nice surprises). read more

Mo and his father are disreputable businessmen I've been to their store three times during their posted business hours and no one is there. It is a horrible experience! They will either tell you that you gained weight or lost weight that's why your clues do not fit. Also be very careful about shirts being custom-made they will take your money and a few weeks later you will get low quality shirts or not what you specified! Ordered from them twice. One time just got a suit and the other time got a suit with 3 shirts. My measurements were taken and I picked out exactly what I wanted as they have fabric pieces to look at. Takes 3 to 4 weeks for the clothing to come in and they had a seamstress there in case minor adjustments requested but everything fit well. I'm reading the other reviews and now I'm scared to go back, honestly. Still, I had 2 good experiences and although expensive are the best shirts that I have so far. read more

Very dishonest people!!!! Monroeville Location behind Apple Bee's I needed 3 shirts custom made that were a different color from the one I owned. I paid half of the total price for the deposit, They shipped my original shirt to their tailor to duplicate in different colors. After about a month they called and said the shirts could not be duplicated exactly like my original. I tried to cancel the order and asked for my deposit back. They would not give me my deposit back and talked me into ordering something else and they would give me a good price in return. I ordered 3 pairs of pants for 210.00. About 2 months went pass and I haven't heard anything from Montaj. I went back to the store and was told they have no record of me ordering the pants. Lucky for me I had them write it down on my receipt from my shirt order. They finally ordered the pants. About 3 weeks later they called me to come pick them up. When I arrived they handed me 2 pairs of pants not hemmed. I told them I ordered 3 pairs and stated that the two they gave me were not hemmed. They said no problem and measured me so they could hem the 2 pairs and they would re-order the third pair. After a week I went to pick up the hemmed pants and inquired about the third pair. The 2 that were hemmed were wrinkled and the third pair wasn't ordered. I was told to take the wrinkled pair to the cleaners and have them pressed, and that I could get a different color for the third pair. I declined and ask for a refund for the third pair. I was offered a check for $45.00 for the third pair. They could not remember the priced they charged me originally. After I explained everything and had the receipt to prove it. They said they deducted $25.00 for hemming the 2 pair that I received. I told them to keep the remaining $45.00 and they lost a customer for life!!!!! Delete review read more

I had numerous problems with the fit and workmanship of my purchase. Their customer service was rude and threatening. I would not send anyone here. I ordered a custom made tuxedo. On my first fitting, the jacket and pants were such a poor fit, I actually asked if they had accidentally had me try on someone else's tuxedo. The pants were so big they were falling off. The legs so long I was standing on them with no foot visible. The arm holes and arms were unreasonably tight. If I moved too much, I felt I was going to tear the tuxedo. I returned to this store five separate times for alterations to the tuxedo. Each time, promised it would be the last time, however, I would return and none or only part of the promised work was done. For example, 1. I ordered a tuxedo with suspender buttons and not belt loops. It came in with belt loops. It took three visits and three requests for the belt loops to be removed. 2. It took multiple visits for them to hem the pants to an appropriate length. 3. It took multiple visits for them to adjust the fit of the waist, seat, and rise of the pants. 4. It took multiple visits for them to adjust the jacket to an appropriate fit, including length and fit. The whole point of ordering a custom fit tuxedo was that the fit be right. Despite several fittings and attempts at adjustments, they never got it right. Eventually, after four months of trusting them, I was forced to take a garment which did not fit correctly as I had no alternative. I was a member of a wedding party and was required to be in a tuxedo. I was promised that, when I returned from the wedding, they would finally fix the fit. When I got dressed for, and attended the wedding, I encountered several problems: 1. The hem of the pants came apart. This was due to the hem being unfinished. The stitching was so far apart that one could actually insert a finger between the stitches. 2. The lining at the hem of the jacket came apart and is hanging out of the coat. This was due to the hem being unfinished. The stitching was so far apart that one could actually insert a finger between the stitches. 3. The waist button to secure the pants fell off before I even wore the tuxedo. 4. The seams of the lining of the jacket came apart, and the inside of the jack is showing through a large opening inside each side of the jacket. 5. As I was putting on the suspenders, one of the suspender buttons came off. 6. The suspender buttons were not put on evenly. They were too far back on the right and too far forward on the left. All of these issues became apparent as I was dressing for the wedding and through the day, as wearing the tuxedo caused more of the stitching to fail. It was noticeable and extremely embarrassing. Later that week, I brought the tuxedo to Montaj and attempted to discuss these issues with Moe. It is my understanding that the business is owned by father and son; Moe is the son. Before I could even finish showing Moe the problems, he became very angry and defensive. His volume, tone, and physical demeanor made me fear he might become physical. I stayed calm and tried to diffuse the situation. I told him that the tuxedo fabric and lining were very nice, I just had issues with the workmanship. I told him I work in a small business, and so I understand nothing is perfect, mistakes happen. I told him that I was not questioning his integrity or the general quality of his merchandise, but that, in this one instance, it did not seem like quality standards were met. He did not like hearing that and responded angrily that, "In all my years in this business, I have never had a customer question the quality of our suits." I asked him to have the tuxedo remade up to the high standard of quality and craftsmanship I was promised when I ordered the tuxedo and which he was professing. He refused. He offered to resew the hem of the pants and reattach the buttons to the waistband and for the suspenders. He refused to take responsibility for any of the defects to the jacket. He refused to continue working to correct the fit, as he had promised when I took possession of the tuxedo. I told him that his offer to fix the pant hem and pant button was unacceptable; that I would only accept a remake or refund. I refused his offer to fix the pants for two reasons. First, he refused to fix the jacket; an incomplete solution is no solution. Second, if the tuxedo fell apart in ways I could see after just one wearing, what was going on "underneath" that I could not see? I am not an expert in tailoring, but is seems obvious to me that if what I can see is defective, surely what I cannot see is also defective. Additionally, I had ordered three shirts from them and paid a deposit on March 30, 2016. About six weeks later the shirts came in; they were too short and were to be fixed. I have heard nothing from them about these shirts. I have given up. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I bought 7 custom tailored shirts for over $700 on 7/30/2016. He took all of my measurements and told me they would take a couple of weeks to come in. Since I live in another state he agreed to mail them to me. I received them in the second week of September. (Much longer than a couple of weeks but sometimes things happen.) They were enormous! The collars were way too big, the shirt was really baggy and the sleeves were huge. The monogram on the cuffs were not well done either. I called him and he told me to bring them back. I brought them back and he took my measurements again and said he didn't know how it happened. He said the seamstress would take the shirts in so they fit. (In my opinion this is no longer a custom tailored shirt. I might as well have bought a shirt off the rack and had someone take it in for 20 bucks.) On 11/26/16 he told me it would be a couple of weeks until they are in. I called at the end of December and he said they just arrived and he will ship them out tomorrow. I called again in the middle of January (2017) and he said the same thing. I called a week later and he said the same thing. (Starting to notice a trend?) I called today and he said he mailed them to Virginia but they were returned to him. Too bad I don't live in Virginia. So again he said he will ship them today. Here we are six months later and I still have no shirts and am 700 bucks in the hole. Not one apology or offer for compensation. Avoid this place at all costs and find a real tailor. read more
