I returned home after living out of state and needed to open an account at a local bank. I have heard great things about Montana Federal Credit Union, so I trusted what I was told and opened an account. It had been a nightmare ever since. They pull a hard pull credit, which took my score down 13 points! They have the rudest employees in all three branches and absolutely horrible customer service. From the person who rudely answers the phones to the Manager who opened my account, service is HORRIBLE. Their website and app has constant issues and is down more than it is up and working. You can't re-name your accounts, the account number provided is confusing, you can't make a mobile deposit for the first 90-days after opening an account. I regret ever opening an account here and it's a huge pain to change everything again and go to another bank. every time I go to get on my online account the system has a shut down. I have zero access to my money, they couldn't even tell me the amount in my account. now I can't make a withdrawal from my account BUT I can make a deposit? I think not! I'm pulling my money and closing my account as soon as I can. absolutely horrible. Side note, every time I'm in the bank, they make a mistake when I deposit money... had money get deposited into someone else's account. would NOT recommend. read more

This bank sucks. I bought my car almost 6 months ago and now all the sudden they call and say my payments are short even though I am on automatic withdrawal that they set up. So I pay the shortage the gal says that she is going to fix it and yet I get another call today saying my payment is short and now they cannot find my automatic payment information. Based their decision solely on the fact that "people from between Helena and Great Falls have been coming in, opening accounts, writing checks with no money in the account to cover them, and then leaving town never to be heard from again". They may get jam packed during lunch hours, but they are very helpful and understanding. A better way? The credit union should come up with a new slogan unless they believe their performance can only go up. It took me four calls to the credit union to get access to their website. Part of the problem is that the prompts on their website issue the incorrect instructions initiating the user to logon with MTCU on one screen and then instructs the user to use MFCU on a subsequent screen. If the bank is striving for a better way; maybe they should correct these type of frustrating details and have all their ATM's operational on the weekends (or at least provide information for the location of the one operational one) before they continue to build big office buildings and go through all the costs involved with rebranding. Once I had access to the website there is a disclaimer stating things are going to continue to change. I noticed right away that some features once available online are not available any longer. Where is the notification to credit union member end users? The only item I have received is a new ATM card. I wonder how difficult it will be to use that when the time comes .. read more
