We were visiting our friends in Montana and we came across Montana River Guides through their recommendations...we had a blast1 This was our first River Rafting experience and we didn't know what to expect other than what we've seen on YouTube. Amy was our guide and she was fantastic. We put on our helmets, life vests, had our brief but important safety class and we were off on the river. Our half day tour was a blast. The views magnificent and something out of a wilderness movies. Amy was very knowledgeable of the area and was armed with some cool history and facts of the area. She was filled with positive vibes all day, great energy and was hilarious with her humor. The rapids section of the river were a blast! The class got as high as class 3 but none of them felt overwhelming or unsafe in any way. It was a major rush paddling through there and we had a blast as the chops got more intense. The staff is fantastic and all their rafting equipment is high quality. I wish I could give this whitewater raft tour company 10 stars! We had so much fun and felt really safe the whole time. Our guide was Caleb and we were in a two raft caravan with Sarah as well. Caleb greeted us and made us aware of all of the safety precautions. Everything was explained simply and thoroughly. Then we were off in the water. There were some easy rapids and more challenging ones. Caleb guided us through them expertly and it was so much fun! My 11 year old had the best time and I felt that he was completely safe despite the somewhat rough water. At the end, Caleb and Sarah were true pros, and directed us how to help to get moving back to the base camp. I loved their teamwork. If you have a chance to go on this fun, thrilling, adventure...I highly recommend it! read more

I stayed at Alberton Orchards and Christine recommended this place to us for whitewater rafting....My cousin and I were a little apprehensive as we had a gnarly flip in the river the day before. The guys were very thorough with safety instructions and fitted us with helmets and life jackets - just in case. Adam was super laid back and friendly, answered any questions we had and made sure that we were comfortable. We had a great time, the packed lunch was amazing and you can tell a lot of time and thought went into it. Also, the pictures that Mike (from Montana Photography) took were beautiful and well worth the price for a visual reminder of an awesome experience! Would highly recommend! read more

This operation is the best! I have done two trips this summer and we were thrilled. I have five joint replacements and they took great care of me. The river itself is sufficiently exciting. Safety and comfort while in a real adventure is terrific. Guides are very experienced and confident. I would emphasize the spirituality of the experience. I can't speak highly enough about this company. We were in Missoula for a few days and didn't plan ahead. Mike at Montana River Guides fit us in last minute when all of the other companies were full. We ended up in our own boat with our own guide, Caleb. Caleb was amazing. He was kind, polite, patient, funny, knowledgeable and super safe. I was very impressed that the company had safety swimmers in the water at the biggest rapids just in case anyone fell off of the boat. We took the scenic raft tour on the Clark Fork River. It was beautiful. Our 5 and 7 year old girls enjoyed it too. We stopped halfway and they served lemonade with chips and salsa on a sandy bank. We saw a heron, deer, bald eagle and tons of crayfish on our tour. We really liked our guides. Only suggestion would be for the tour guides to brush up on their knowledge of the flora and fauna or history of the area. read more

These guys are so friendly. We showed up at about 6pm the evening before we wanted to go out. We are both former river guides, so we knew exactly what they must have been thinking when clients show up out of nowhere at the end of a long day. The staff was all very courteous, and took time out of what they were doing to help us get a trip booked for the next day. Mike even suggested a great place to camp that night. We went riverboarding with Mike the next day, after getting us all set up with gear at the ranch. It was a blast. The Alberton Gorge is beautiful. Will definitely be back. read more

We went down the river in mid-July and everyone, including our very nervous six year old daughter had a great time. The company is located right on the river at the exact spot you start the float. It is easy to find and a quick drive from Missoula. We were met by the owner Mike and his very friendly guides. The safety speech was entertaining, professional and memorable. We were suited up and on the river in no time. Our guide Cory was professional, knowledgeable and entertaining on the river. He was great with our daughter who was definitely anxious. He has 17 years of experience and was definitely a great guy. I would definitely recommend the full day trip, which includes a very nice lunch with appetizers while the guides prepare the meal. We had great waves and a great family day. Montana River Guides also sells some very cool hats and T-Shirts at their office. There were no dry bags for clients, so bring your own small bag for personal items and phones or buy one at the shop for $15. read more

Great family adventure with fun, professional guides! We had 11 family members in our raft guided by Cory, who made the trip down the Clark Fork fun for everyone, ages 8-68! He helped us spot bald eagles, gave us some history of the gorge and greater area, and told jokes to keep us going. We stopped for lunch along the way and afterward were able to jump over board to swim alongside the raft for a stretch. Great fun! read more

Went on 1/2 day trip while on vacay, set it up day before for a Saturday. Mike the owner made it happen even with short notice. Our boat guide was Mark, a knowledgeable guide. Also on the trip were guides Ellie, and Noah. All 3 boats were fun. The rapids in the Gorge were only 2 & 3 but for our kids that was enough. The whole experience was excellent. Only drawback was that Mike is a safety guy so even on 2's & 3's helmets were mandatory, now had one of us hit our heads I would be singing his praises but since we didnt -- it was a hot day to be wearing a helmet. Due to his customer service attitude I absolutely still recommend highly. read more
