The manager tending to some guests.

The manager was standing at the table next to us with her mask down and leaning over the table while she talked, not to mention she was there for a majority of our visit and we're were there for over an hour. We felt this to be very disrespectful and unprofessional. The food was okay, I would give a 4 if the management was more understanding of the rules and regulations regarding COVID-19, but sadly she was not.

The Woodstock, Ontario location served me, quite possibly, the best bacon cheeseburger I've ever had. Smothered with bacon, cheese and their applebutter bbq sauce, this burger will not disappoint.

Inside is very big and can accommodate large groups (best to reserve in advance). You can also sit by the bar if you like. Typical bar and grill setup - I like the little pieces of decor to spruce up the vibe. Staff were very nice, I'd really like the bartender who gave recommendations for first timers and explain the menu. Food Menu has a lot of typical bar & grill items, but with a Newfoundland twists since it's Newfoundland style. So definitely try dishes that are more known on the east end - like Newfie Fries, Lobsters, Cod au Gratin, Newfie Steak Dinner. The steak is a maple leaf bologna and not you're typical meat - more of the saltier and drier side. Newfie fries is a type of dressing that uses bread crumbs and yellow onions - again more of the saltier side, but it matches quite well with gravy as a poutine. Food pricing overall is very standard and not overly expensive. Portion sizes were very generous, had to pack it to go. Overall a good find if you're in the neighbourhood and traveling, great to explore and learn more about Newfoundland food.

I ordered up a quarter chicken diner with the upgraded Mac and cheese as a side. My order came out promptly and all was quite good. They have a condiment basket at the table with their various BBQ sauces to try. The only thing I would comment on was that the food was just barely warm and that the sauce for the mac and cheese was kind of clumpy. Would have been nice if they put it under the broiler for a minute and added some green onion on top. Will come back in the future to try some more on their menu.

You try to do pick up and they have no "take out" spots left and refuse to make an extra sandwich for pick up. Literally every time I go there there is some issue and they are very unapologetic. Last time we were parked in front trying to get 2 sandwiches, a woman hobbled in on a cane and came out 2 min later saying they wouldn't seat her because they "had no room at the counter." This place does everything to discourage customers. Message received. I don't care how good your bbq is, chasing away customers is a silly marketing strategy. I'm out.

Lunch was perfect with lots of soups, salads, and sandwiches to choose from. They even had a soup flight! I opted for butternut squash soup and a small Greek salad. Everything was delicious and portions were perfect. Husband had a chicken pita and decided on tots for his side. I stole a few tots and they were delicious. Nice and crispy. Service was excellent. The place was a cute one-room area with a little bar in the back of the room and booths and tables throughout. The bar had a big screen TV which was showing a baseball game. It looked like they have live music on certain days. It's part of a strip mall so don't miss it.

The waiter never did come back to see if our meals were ok. Had to get a hold of him just to get the bill. Left half the food there. My chicken was stringy and not cooked right. My fries looked like day olds just barely warmed up. They were hard as twigs. My wife's chicken wasn't good and her baked potato was raw on the inside. Our friends had ribs with the consistency of leather and taste about as good. I should mention this restaurant used to be good but recently taken over by East Indians. I got a view to the kitchen and a lot of old people back there. Cooking I guess but I use the term cooking loosely. Do people think when they buy a restaurant that maybe someone should know how to cook? Last time we will go there. Hopefully Paris is still good and hasn't changed hands. Thats where we will go next time.

I've only tried it myself once, and honestly, it wasn't quite to my personal taste. But food is very subjective, and I'm clearly in the minority in my family! My kids both when they were teenagers and now as adults--have always loved it, and my nephew and niece are big fans as well. The portions were good from what I remember, and the restaurant always seems busy, which says a lot. Just because it wasn't my favorite doesn't mean it isn't doing something right. When so many young people keep coming back and ordering from the same place year after year, that's usually a sign that they're doing a good job. If you're into this style of food, there's a good chance you'll enjoy it as much as the younger generation in my family does!

It was a chilly in there, the only criticism would be that it could use some personal touches, the restaurant itself seems a little bare. But the food made up for it.

The appetizers included a nicely crusted and very hot French onion soup, and creamy and rich lobster bisque, and a side salad with Italian vinaigrette. The two soups were particularly nicely flavored; the mixed green salad was solid though some of the leaves were slightly darkened and/or lacked freshness. The mains were excellent; the trademark steak (NY strip and filet) were nice and juicy, with a decent texture for their respective cuts. Also appreciated that the cuts weren't overseasoned (though perhaps I would have preferred more pepper). The vegetarian shepherd's pie was oversalted, and in general the potato top was mostly untextured. The dish itself seemed a bit paltry as well. It came with a salad accompaniment, which was odd, since the salad was being cooked as it was placed next to the cast iron dish containing the shepherd's pie. Also worth commenting on was the plating; the NY strip came with a garnish medley of green beans and carrots; both were cooked to perfection, however, they were presented in a haphazard manner. The mushroom medley accompaniment tasted decent, but they were unevenly cut and came in different sizes. The cauliflower mash was decent; however, there could have been more of it. It was also presented in a rather dull manner. I also think that some coloration of garnish could have helped the presentation; how about parsley or cilantro on top of the cauliflower? A bit of spice as well? The plates themselves were rather dull as well; usually a plain white plate. They could use a trim, or coloration. These details might be passed over or ignored in a lesser establishment, but given the reputation of The Keg, it would be worth making small modifications which would elevate the experience commensurate with the pricing of the menu items.
