Three of my friends left the next morning and wouldn't even sleep under the covers. All the buildings had a musty smell. we were having a reunion here and I drove three other people or I would have left the next morning. happy Hour didn't have a bar tender. the food was meh. All that would have been no big deal, but there is no way around biotoxin illness from mold. Everyone in the cabin left sick. We were offered a different cabin but they all stunk! The real kicker? I was offered $25 off my entire bill which is a slap in the face for what we endured. STAY AWAY from this pace for your health!

Kayaking, tubing, horseback riding and hiking are the way to go if you come down in this direction. Fishing is a little more difficult but if you look around you'll find a spot just right for you. Council Bluff worked great for us . Also check out the Elephant Rocks and visit the highest point in Missouri. Check out this neat little place; totally worth the drive .

I've probably been there 10 times over the past 20 years. Prior to Echo Bluff being built, we stayed at various places in Eminence (Rivers Edge, various B&Bs). The accommodations were always Spartan and it was almost impossible to find any restaurants that offered anything more than "Fried something" or hamburgers. All that has changed with Echo Bluff State Park Lodge. The Lodge has accommodations that are orders of magnitude better than what can be found in Eminence and the on-site restaurant has really good food and a menu that is large enough that one could eat several different meals at the Lodge without having to repeat and entree. There is a beautiful creek behind the lodge (about 150 yards) that you can put your lawn chair in, sit back and enjoy the cool stream water and the absolutely gorgeous view of the Bluff.

Last year we splurged and upgraded to the a 20 person cabin and for the little bit extra you get A LOT of value. The views amazing, the cabin beautiful and brand new and although camping is fun, the dedicated bus pickup and drop off and a cool cabin to shower and chill in after a hot float is top notch relaxation. We'll continue to go every year. The staff is great, efficient, and its well oiled machine that delivers every year. If you're going to camp, camp by the bathroom, it's totally worth being by the bathroom but it's not so close it smells or anything. Depending on the amount of rain the floats usually 4 to 6 hours on rafts. Enjoy!

The water flow was good and the stream was deep enough to not require leaving the canoe. I had heard the Piney was very slow. We did not find this to be true. The route we took was very remote. We only observed one home. Cell phone connection was mostly nonexistent. If you are looking for a wilderness type float of a beautiful waterway with great fishing I can highly recommend this resort. They also offer many other options on the Big Piney. The couple running the resort were also very nice. Be sure to contact them before you travel to the resort so they can prepare for your arrival.

On Saturday they had a live band thank goodness the rain was in the forecast and they set up indoors so that dampened the noise. Other than that, the atmosphere is honky tonk, near fishing spots and super close to the Piney River.
