Pretty solid Metrolink station. I've had the pleasure of stopping off here a few times in the past month, visiting friends close by here and in Downtown Upland. The parking lot is very spacious with plenty of complimentary parking in a gated area. The ticket machines are always in great condition and easy to use. I really admire the architecture at this station highly as well as the wide open layout. The station is always in top condition free of liter and the security is pretty friendly as well as on top of things. Definitely recommend boarding here whether east or west bound to avoid any issues with parking at stations nearby. There are some nice stores and small businesses close by in the area to explore and/or pass time between trains and services. read more

Calling the Montclair Metrolink Station a station is generous. It is essentially a massive sea of parking where it is possible to catch a bus or a train with some effort. There are zero services (hope you don't need to use the restroom), zero buildings, and zero personnel at the station. You cannot walk to anything nearby, because there is nothing within walking distance. Since you can't walk anywhere, your only real option is sitting on a hard metal bench and hoping you can leave as soon as possible. read more

This is the Metrolink Station I use the most. I live in Upland, but that station is on the southeast side and Montclair is closer to the tip of southwest Upland. I call this the major hub between LA and San Bernardino counties as Montclair and Upland are the first cities just inside SB County. So anyone coming from LA that has to bus anywhere here or anyone from SBD that that needs to bus towards LA County and city, this is your stop. This place has really cleaned up and they do have security here. If you are going westbound on track 1, it is pretty safe as you are on the same side as everyone coming in and out of the property, vehicles, etc. However please be careful if you have to take the steps under the bridge to track 2 going eastbound. This side of track is a bit secluded and you never know what or who can be waiting in this area. Better if you do go in numbers at least 2. I came in and out of here yesterday without incident. If you miss a train going to LA the Silver Streak bus should honor your train ticket. This station has an architectural difference in that it looks like a giant colorful spider. I left my car here in the free parking for the day, no issues. For now, this is my #1 Metrolink station! read more

Today is my second day taking the Metrolink from the Montclair Metrolink Station, after having tried the Upland and Claremont stations. Upland is the most convenient and closest to me, but I stopped taking the train from there due to some parking fee mishaps (refer to my Upland Metrolink Station review if you'd like to know more, lol). I only checked out Claremont because I was intimidated by Montclair (yeah, I'm still too used to driving and only starting to get used to public transportation), but I'm glad I finally did! I love that you don't have to pay for parking (unlike Upland and Rancho), and parking is actually ample! I read another review that there is no parking, but in my experience of the past two days, parking has not been an issue (and I am writing this as I sit on the Metrolink to LA during peak hours, AND the train is extra crowded today... probably because of the rain?). Anyway, this station services the Metrolink and buses, so it is a busy hub, though nothing terrible. read more

I've heard of some investment being made here for this station but years later, we're still waiting for the changes to be applied. It's a scary place to be at night and there are no security personnel and the station itself lacks a lot of basic amenities other train or bus stations have. read more

Well-located station for commuters with convenient connections to Metrolink trains and the Foothill Transit "Silver Streak" bus to downtown Los Angeles. Plenty of free parking, and quite safe, with roving, round-the-clock security. However, I need to dock them a point for those repulsive porta-potties. Note: if you're taking the FlixBus, it does not board here, but rather slightly south, north of the Montclair Place mall, on Moreno Street at Monte Vista. There's really not much in the area. I took a bus from Downtown LA from Foothill Transit and got off here to meet a friend. I wonder if I should have taken Metrolink. Well, I paid bus fare, which is cheaper, so maybe that's economic for me since I'm not in a hurry and I get to chill. At the station, there's really nothing there. When you walk some blocks away, you'll hit some familiar fast food joints and some more you'll hit some restaurants. I did that because it was pretty warm. read more

.., I used to depart from here towards Union Station 5 days a week for 3 1/2 yrs. I miss this station dearly for I have fond memories of it. However it is a bit inconvenient in some aspects. First of all there are no bathrooms. I used to walk to Taco Bell down the street to use their bathrooms when the time came. Luckily I lived in Chino which isn't too far. There is no staff to assist you, which may cause frustration sometimes. My dad & I would drive to the Claremont Station to purchase bus tickets occasionally since you couldn't do that @ Montclair. But this station has frequent & consistent bus lines that stop every 15 minutes or so. The parking lot is HUGE. They have machines on the premisis where you can purchase train tickets/passes. I haven't been here in a while, but they do need to put real bathrooms in, as opposed to port-a-pottys on site. Located off Central Ave. & Richton St. ... Check it out! read more

No This is one of the more rundown and unpleasant stations on the SB Line, but there's a lot of bus connections to take you beyond yonder. Ample parking for you commuter types, and some funky iron work to make the station not as unhappy. Noticeably few shady spots however, and you get to watch the mobile concrete factory at work while you wait for your train. I've been using this station regularly for a few years. I've never really had any problems, but I have noticed the lack of security over the years. A couple of weeks ago the catalytic converter was stolen from my car. It's a very costly repair. I filed a police report and the police officer pointed out that there are no security or cameras in the lots. I'm now making a point to park in spots that are more publicly visible. I hope I don't experience anything like that, or worse, again. I don't know if there are a lot of thefts or other crimes committed in these parking lots, but I had a pretty bad experience and I'm not confident about what's in store for the future. read more

Tired of being stuck in traffic, I have decided to use public transport for the first time in my life after a decade of driving . This review is more or less information for patrons interested and/or considering using public transportation more so than on the Metrolink station it self, which is nice and clean but does not have real bathrooms (only portable potties), but it makes up for it in parking spaces. It took me a long time to figure out my route with the appropriate and fees, so this is more a public service to my fellow yelpers. So I started a new job in downtown LA and being that I refused to move I decided to utilize public transport. After a thorough review I realized that coming from Rancho Cucamonga, the most cost effective and efficient way to travel was by way of bus. If I used the Metrolink my cost would be upwards of $300/month, and I would have to drive to the train, take it all the way to Union station and then transfer to a bus. I am too lazy for all of that, ideally I wanted to use a straight route with no transfers, that way I am not dependent my main bus being on time to catch the appropriate transfers. So these were my options along with the one way prices: Route 1: Montclaire Foothill transit (FT) Silver Streak to El Monte FT 481 to Downtown Route 2: Montclaire FT 699 to El Monte FH 481 to Downtown Route 3: Montclaire FT 699 straight to Downtown Route 4. FT Silver Streak straight to Downtown Cost One way: Route 1: Silver Streak $2.45 + .50 cent transfer+ $1.50 for FT481= $4.45 Route 2: FT 699 $4.90 + .50 cent transfer + $1.50 for FT 481= $6.90 Route 3: FT 699 $4.90= $4.90 Route 4: FT Silver Streak $2.45=$2.45 The first week, I tried all routes not really paying too much attention to the cost. I wanted to see if I could even stand the bus, especially since this was my first time using public transport. The fastest route would include a transfer to the FT481, but that bus due to its' route has a whole different fee. So if you purchase a monthly pass for $170 for the FT Express 699, you cannot just use the FT481, you have to pay full fare ($2.75), or buy a completely different monthly pass for $105 in addition to the $170 to use the FT481. That would make the monthly commute around $275, a little too pricey. That is not worth the extra $105 because I would only save 10 min on my commute and still I had to worry about a transfer. The Silver streak was very cost effective and with a monthly pass of $105, I could even jump on the FT481, and my commute would only be about an hour in the AM and an hour half on the PM, but the cheap fare is truly reflected also on the condition of the bus (and the passengers). Plus, the Silver Streak has a lot of stops off the freeway which slows the commute down. The FT 699 Express has very few stops until it gets to Downtown, and even then all the stops prior to downtown are right off the freeway. So the winner for me being that I value, clean environment, fast commute and no transfers, was the FT 699. It's a commuter EXPRESS bus, it drives fast with as few stops as possible. It's clean, the seats recline and the passengers are all professionals. With no transfers I can get to and from Downtown in 1 hour 15 min in the AM and 1 hour and 30 min in the PM. I have not experienced any delay thus far, and monthly pass is $170. Totally worth every penny. After using the bus, it has become increasingly harder to drive myself again and deal with the traffic, so I totally recommend FT699 to anyone driving to Downtown from Montclaire, you will not regret it. read more

Well I've been riding the train for about 4 months now every day during the work week. I've read a lot of reviews about Metrolink and here are some of my thoughts on this service: 1. For all you people who complain the trains aren't on time and you're late because you're on a strict schedule....leave earlier! It's public transportation and public transportation is rarely exactly on time. Yes I know that trains breaking down sucks but this is not a norm. Take the previous scheduled train and shut your traps! 2. For people who complain that tickets are too expensive...with gas at 4.00 a gallon plus the stress of traffic it's worth it both fiscally and emotionally. Here's a tip. The the monthly pass is cheap per day. For me, it averages at 11.60 or so a day! Cheap! 3. Stinky people on the train? Again. This is public transportation and you just don't have a cocoon around you to notice all the stinky people around you when you're driving into work in your car. Deal with it, it's not a norm. Most people are kind respectable folks. So, LA train haters, give it a shot and learn the game! Do you get to sleep on the way to work? I do! read more

I have been at this train station many times in 2018. That year, I was finishing my last courses in Cal Poly Pomona. I would usually get out in this train station to catch a bus, that was going straight to Cal Poly Pomona. I can only say, that it is a nice train station, located adjacent to the Montclair Transit Center. Wohoo! You get your choice of how you want to get to LA while avoiding traffic! Cheapest to most expensive that I have tried. Silver Streak - at $2.75 one way, this is by FAR the cheapest way to get to LA, but the catch is, it takes roughly one hour from Montclair to West Covina Mall. While the stops don't show on the schedule, there are MULTIPLE mini stops which really make this bus a drag to take when it takes easily 1.5-2 hours. It is the easiest to spot because it is the only double bus. Park on the east side lot because the both the west and eastbound leave from that side. 699- it's $4.90 one way and it's a little bit of a heartbreak to pay that much for public transport, but it's still well worth it. This bus ONLY stops at the Pomona Park and Ride (Fairplex), then goes straight to Cal State LA, continues on to USC Medical (aka general hospital), then to Union Station, then slowly makes it's way through various stops in downtown. Note: the schedule on the website is a little off. It isn't faster than the Metrolink, but it's 5-15 mins off. The bus does get a little crowded, it's not unusual to have every seat filled (unlike the silver streak) but it is well worth it to not take an extra 45mins-1hr to get to work or home. Metrolink- From Claremont it is about $8 one way $14 daily. I'd imagine Montclair was about the same. While the train is MUCH more comfortable, 5-15 mins faster, and most of the cars have some outlets available for use with computers or cell phone chargers, it's just a high cost to pay for daily commute. read more

Sleazy and poorly maintained, but a vital Inland Empire transportation hub. From here, you can go all the way to Downtown L.A. (take the Foothill Silver Streak) or Riverside (take the RTA Route 204, weekday mornings and evenings only), both in about an hour. You can also ride a single bus (the Silver Streak or the Foothill Route 187) that connects with the L.A. subway. read more

I got to use RTA buses for free with my college ID, so I would take RTA's route 204 and arrive at this station on a semi-regular basis to get home. This is a major transportation hub for the region. In addition to RTA, this is the terminal point for several Foothill Transit and Omnitrans routes, and there is daily Metrolink service to Los Angeles/San Bernardino. There is also plenty of available parking at the station and across the street. Despite this place being a major transit hub, there is very little in the way of amenities, but this is usually the case at most Metrolink stations. Also, there is a creepy vibe when arriving after dark. read more

My husband has been taking the Metro Link for over 25 years. It used to be the best mode of transportation in the Inland Empire, it still is to some degree. But I want to know when are people going to start paying attention and saying something? There was a dead rat at the bottom of the stairs in Montclair for over a week! If that isn't bad enough they are now not checking for tickets in LA and the homeless are taking over the trains. I will be the first to tell someone how terrible it is for the USA to even have homeless let alone NOT having facilities for them. Defintely worth trying out if you are looking for an alternative to driving. You can take both a bus or Metrolink out of this station to many places. I utilize this station Monday through Friday for my commute to and from LA where I work. Sometimes I take the Metrolink and other days when I'm running late I jump on Bus Line 699 which is the express bus route to LA. Cost is $4.90 (One-way) for Foothill Transit Line 699 and $8.50 (One-Way) for Metrolink. read more
