We had done quite a bit…read moreof research and looked at three or four other communities in the region that were nice, but we ultimately chose Chestnut for a variety of reasons. First and foremost were the staff and residents. They were all some of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met. Not only were they warm and friendly but extremely helpful and very competent, as well as accommodating. The food was excellent, and the entire building was very clean, well-maintained, and quite attractive. There was plenty of programming and amenities both at Chestnut Square, as well as a short walk away in The Glen Town Center. Just across the street is a beautiful natural area with paved paths, a lake, shops, and plenty of places to explore. During her time at Chestnut Square, Sandra made many close friends and even developed a wonderful, close, and fulfilling romantic relationship with another resident who lived down the hall. The most important thing, however, was the dedication the staff had toward the happiness and fulfillment of all the residents. It really showed how happy everyone was in the community. Pretty amazing! When Sandra's health declined and she needed more assistance, Chestnut Square was able to provide additional on-site support through its phenomenal sister affiliate, Partners in Healthcare. The caregivers from Partners treated her and her loved ones like they were their own family. This was all available in Sandra's original apartment with a very thoughtful aging-in-place model, so she wouldn't need to transfer to another floor or facility. The care was exceptional, providing her with warmth, dignity, and respect. It comes as no surprise that Chestnut Square (a non-profit organization) is driven by their dedication to residents as well as staff--who all seem to really enjoy working there. Our entire experience with Chestnut Square was wonderful and provided the whole family with tremendous peace of mind!

I am so glad i chose to move her when i did. I have progressed to needing a walker and 12hrs a day private caregivers. Both are accommodated enthusiastically here. I know that this residential community has extended my life actively. The activity calendar offers something for mind, body, and spirit every day. Location is the best with shopping and medical care within a mile or two. The decor and residential suburban settings is superb. As is the residence itself. If you need it come join our club. Choosing The Sheridan was our BEST decision. We had toured many other facilities, always leaving feeling depressed. Then we visited The Sheridan. What a difference! The environment was so beautiful, as if you were walking into a high class hotel. Our father wanted to live at home, but he was so impressed when we brought him there. We were welcomed so warmly by the administrative staff. And when he saw his apartment, he said, this is all mine? Our CNA's and nurses not only took excellent physical care of him, but treated him so lovingly. Our needs and concerns were always taken seriously and met instantly. Our family and Dad developed such a close bond with them. Each person who works there, in every capacity, is so dedicated to giving the best compassionate care to each resident. They go out of their way to make everyone feel special. It is always difficult to watch your loved one decline, and our hearts are broken to lose our precious father and husband. But, we will forever be grateful that the remainder of his life was spent at The Sheridan. With gratitude!

Having her return home was no longer an option; which led me to quickly get to up to speed on senior living options,mostly on my own. I found her a place & moved her in all before her release. While I ensured her safety, I second guessed my decisions as she vocally struggled to adjust; it was a lot of change particularly for someone who rarely left her home. Almost 6 months in, a different set of doubts & worries took over. Did I make the right call, could she live somewhere more affordable, would she outlive her money, etc. I don't even recall what search term led me to Senior Living Experts, but I'm grateful. Rebecca listened to my story and made me feel less alone. She thought where my mom was at was the best option in terms of cost, desired location and care needs addressed, but would do the research and circle back. We also discussed the care she received currently and provided a few suggestions. As promised, Rebecca followed up and confirmed her initial assessment. Yes, I'll still worry about her finances, but I now have a better understanding of the landscape and what comes should her care needs increase. If I had a do over, I would have started with Senior Living Experts, they are amazing!

Large turnover in permanent staff as well, as they all left after the good admin did. Program outsources for many nursing and caregiving shifts because of consistent staff vacancies. These temp staff are not well trained to the health and safety guidelines of the program or individual resident needs, and are not at all well supervised. Residents walking around with no pants on, soiled from urine or feces. Some haven't changed clothes in multiple days and smell like it. Many have visible bruises or cuts from falls and accidents bc of low supervision. Room doors are locked to keep residents out of their room during the day, and in them at night. Look at the pictures on social media- always the same small group of happy looking seniors while the facility itself houses very many more. There are a small number of really kind and caring individuals who do very good work with residents or at their role at Emerald, but they get overshadowed by those who are just collecting a paycheck- and the negative experiences that stem from that. Overall the program is not structured, staffed, supervised or equipped to provide high quality care for seniors.

They heard the residents like cattle into a common area and except for a few activities, let them sit alone and mostly unattended while the staff stare are their phones or talk among themselves. The food in memory care is bad and not nutritionally balanced. For example, they will bring a meal without ANY carbs, often neglecting to provide plastic eating utensils, a drink or napkins. If you're not there for every meal, you have no idea if your loved one is eating or not. If you speak to management, they will promise to do something, but they never seem able to resolve even the simplest of issues. Moreover, they NEVER follow up with status, no matter how many times you report the same issue. Management is generally unprofessional and pathetic! They don't clean the rooms properly and will make excuses or blame your loved one if you complain. Overall, most of the staff are indifferent at best. Most of the staff don't know how to deal with hearing aids so they usually sit in the charger. You would think this would be easy for a retirement home, but nothing is easy there. Again, if you're not there most of the time you'll have no idea what's going on.

She is warm, efficient, smart, compassionate, and a true professional. Everything she does is thought out and in her patient's best interest! So much so that you the patient work harder to improve as not to let her down. I can go on and on about what a wonderful experience I had working with Nina. She is the absolute best PT in the Northshore. And, she is one of the best people I have ever met in my 70 years of life.

I had problems with range of motion, frozen tibia, etc. that could have been prevented if someone at Aspire cared. After my poor previous review, the head of Aspire/PT did call me to apologize but also defended that this was not typical. Well, if someone had cared enough to look into my complaints when I first called we wouldn't have needed a poor review. I suffered the results, not Aspire, even with my poor review.
