Large turnover in permanent staff as well, as they all left after the good admin did. Program outsources for many nursing and caregiving shifts because of consistent staff vacancies. These temp staff are not well trained to the health and safety guidelines of the program or individual resident needs, and are not at all well supervised. Residents walking around with no pants on, soiled from urine or feces. Some haven't changed clothes in multiple days and smell like it. Many have visible bruises or cuts from falls and accidents bc of low supervision. Room doors are locked to keep residents out of their room during the day, and in them at night. Look at the pictures on social media- always the same small group of happy looking seniors while the facility itself houses very many more. There are a small number of really kind and caring individuals who do very good work with residents or at their role at Emerald, but they get overshadowed by those who are just collecting a paycheck- and the negative experiences that stem from that. Overall the program is not structured, staffed, supervised or equipped to provide high quality care for seniors.

The physician I usually dine with calls the meals outstanding. I agree. There is a large gym with a decent sized comfortable swimming pool and a large number of physical therapy machines at different levels of skill supported by knowledgeable trainers. Free transportation is provided as far as 12 miles for medical/dental appointments and 8 miles for other trips. My main criticism is the absence of adequate tech assistance. Since there is one tech helper, it can take at least three days before you receive any assistance. While the techie is outstanding, he cannot serve roughly 200 residents. This is not the mid-20th century when most residents were not computer literate. I first thought that imposing a surcharge for access to a techie would work, but then a surcharge would need to be imposed on all activities that a minority of residents use.
