In terms of the facility it was easily 4 star level. But you can't leave out Location, Location, Location. The Morris Plains Community Center is in the middle of the Morris Plains Community Park! That means it is next to 5 baseball fields, 2 batting cages, 2 basketball courts, 2 tennis courts, 1 playground, 1 gated sand box, a covered picnic area, a pond, and a community pool. This place gets the 5 star rating because it is surrounded by so many options to have a good time outside. No voters were harmed during the writing of this review. And if there were, FUGETABOUTIT!!!

The Baird is the fourth "part" of Meadowlands park (See my review of Meadowlands park). The Baird…read moreis like the central hub for the park serving as the community center for not just the park, but really the town, handling pretty much all recreational affairs and park usage. For my job for example, if we wanted to use the field we had to select a time to reserve it for practice with whatever sport we'd be preparing for. I like this because it's organized and fair. The Baird is also where you purchase and renew your badge for the pool which convenient. The building hosts other things such a book drives and classes for kids but also houses the Pierro Gallery where many exhibits and events take place on the second floor and are too well organized. Surrounding the Baird are basketball courts and tennis courts making feel very much a part of Meadowlands park.

It has served the public brilliantly ever since, providing an impressive range of books and services, despite its small size and limited funding. Its employees are kind and attentive. We especially enjoyed the room dedicated to Philip Roth, one of Newark's most famous former residents, who has written compellingly on his upbringing. Library membership is open to those who work in Newark as well as it residents.

If you are into graphic novels, the library has a decent selection, too. The library sponsors various kinds of events for patrons and the community. I've gone to one of the library events in Centennial Hall featuring the Arts High School Jazz Ensemble and it was really cool. Lastly, along with Newark residents, people who work in the city can get a library card. In short, NPL is a wonderful library with a noteworthy vision and mission. Its employees and volunteers work to enrich the lives of people in the community. I'm a fan of the Newark Public Library and recommend you visit it at least once if you are in the area.

I had my wedding here. The catering and everybody we hired to put together the event did a great…read morejob. We wanted to have an outdoor party. I assume this mansion is owned by somebody who rents it out. There was an older lady hanging out in the background at the venue. Because of the creepy photos, I thought she may have been a ghost but my wife saw her too, so I'm pretty sure she's real. Anyway, I was able to go out through the kitchen to sneak a smoke while our guests were enjoying cocktail hour before our entrance for the ceremony. Anyway, I go to sneak back through the kitchen, and the owner refused to let me in though the back door. Our wedding was the only thing going on there that night and I tried to convince her to let me in and pointed out that I was the only person wearing a tux. Anyway, I had to go through the main entrance and everybody knew I had been smoking. I wasn't ready to make my "entrance", and instead of "congratulations".... it was "Brian were you smoking? " Now when I look back at my wedding, all I remember is the embarrassment I felt after I was allowed out the back door and this mean old lady would not let me back the way I came. if you are considering this for your venue, yes it's a nice place, but consider how uncomfortable a mean old lady hanging around in the background watching your party because it is her property may make you and your guests feel. She was totally real.

With that said, you have to be mindful and vigilant of timelines and plans. Be prepared to stay on top of them in regards to communication, it was a hassle to get answers or finalize things. (It was honestly the most stressful part of planning my wedding - just the lack of timely communication and confirmation) Be sure to keep documentation/copies of everything. Despite the communication hiccups though, it all worked out beautifully in the end. Remember that It's an old mansion, with lots of history and character. Play those details up!

I've been inside 24 Commerce a few times to get blood work done at Quest Diagnostics. The inside has been renovated with lots of marble and gold plated fixtures. In the lobby, there is always a security guard on post, who can direct you to where you need to go. It's in a good location in the city, right in the center of downtown. It's easy to travel there by car or public transportation. There are a bunch of paid, parking lots in the area. Also, it's within walking distance of Newark Penn and nearby light rail and bus stops.
