We had this Korean traditional ceremony where our parents gave us blessings with chestnuts and dates. Chef Andrea customized hors d'oeuvre to be roasted chestnut crostini. We also had desserts with them - chocolate chestnut cakes & a family-recipe date bar. It was awesome. Many people complimented our food, and it made me very happy because food is such an important factor in our lives (I am Korean and we live in NYC - food is all we care about haha). Students of culinary school prepared and served our food - it was such an honor to have those enthusiasm and joy on our big day. The venue comes with the day of coordinator - Chrissy. I stay at the hotel from time to time when I do remodeling. This hotel is a quarter of the price of Pebble Beach, and I like the views better at Seascape. We did not buy one but looked nice. We enjoyed breakfast at their restaurant and also one evening had a cocktail at their bar and there was live music which was very nice. The room had a gorgeous view of the ocean with a fireplace, a large closet, comfortable bed, with stocked and full kitchen. The negative :( Our bathroom , sadly it was very tiny and the shower head was horrible. The connection between shower and toilet was one door that barely fit in the space. Bathroom needs a remodel! Loved the big bath (whirlpool, if you like). The 'full breakfast' is fantastic. Jen is a wonderful baker (a breakfast bread pudding one day; mini churros another day), and each morning we had a varied and hearty breakfast that was delicious and well-balanced. The house itself is big and inviting with hip old timey jazz pipedor more modern-day chanteuses gently piped in. Enclosed porch for reading or just relaxing. Our room had a private porch, too. So much here. So many ways to really unwind. Walking around the grounds is inspiring. I ran into Derek a time or two who was relaxed but busy on the many projects that keep him focused here. The whole place looks perfect for a wedding, or a family gathering, or even a business get-away. Or, of course, just a simple, lowkey retreat. Lovely hidden (but easy to find) gem. Can't wait to return.

The hall itself was perfect for our needs - roomy enough for 20 seated banquet style with an area for crafts (wreath-making), food and drink stations, and gift tables. The heater worked well and the kitchen was clean and worked well for re-heating. We had great support from Patti Anderson (through SC Parks) in the booking process and on the day of the event. I would highly recommend Valencia Hall for a similar event. One tip: we had no cell reception at the Hall (though there is a land line); make sure to have guests print directions/map in advance.
