I have been coming to this hotel for many many years. The staff gets 5 stars and they keep me coming back. Not the hotel or the restaurant. I live in the neighborhood. I stay at the hotel from time to time when I do remodeling. This hotel is a quarter of the price of Pebble Beach, and I like the views better at Seascape. A lot of the staff has been there for many years. I rate the hotel rooms a strong 4 stars. I like the fact that there is no air conditioning. My Husband planned a surprise get away for us for Valentine's Day weekend and it was wonderful. The staff upon arrival came out and opened the door for me and while my husband checked us in right then , no wait. I enjoyed the lobby fire pit. They let us know about the amenities (pools and hot tubs) , their restaurant and bar and other activities for the weekend. We loved that after a day of hiking their golf cart drivers took us down and back to the private beach for sunset. You can rent a bonfire they tend for you with s'mores. We did not buy one but looked nice. We enjoyed breakfast at their restaurant and also one evening had a cocktail at their bar and there was live music which was very nice. The room had a gorgeous view of the ocean with a fireplace, a large closet, comfortable bed, with stocked and full kitchen. The negative :( Our bathroom , sadly it was very tiny and the shower head was horrible. The connection between shower and toilet was one door that barely fit in the space. Bathroom needs a remodel! Let me start by saying the resort is gorgeous and the staff at the bar set a great tone for New Year's Eve. My husband and I had drinks, enjoyed the appetizers, and spent time on the patio -- we were genuinely having a 5-star experience... until we weren't. We ordered DoorDash to the room. After finishing our drinks outside for about 30-40 minutes, we came back to our room and were met with a full-on ant infestation. They were everywhere -- counters, walls, corners. It was beyond disgusting. There is no sugarcoating this. The room was not habitable. We called the front desk immediately. The response? "We'll write it down." No empathy, no action, no urgency, and no offer to move us to another room. No manager contact. No help. Nothing. I have a phobia of ants, and this experience triggered a physical and psychological reaction. I could not stop feeling like ants were crawling on me. It got so bad that I slept in the car -- not because I wanted to, but because I felt unsafe, unheard, and unsupported. On New Year's Eve, no less. At sunrise, we checked out extremely early and left immediately due to the disgusting nature of what transpired. We still have not received a single follow-up from management. Amazing for a staycation, beautiful property with a private beach, a playground and a sports center. The fireplace in the lobby is so cozy and gives such a vacation feel to the whole atmosphere. The rooms are well designed to maximize space and comfort. Kitchen is well stocked with all the needed cookware and dishwater. Added perk, they have golf carts to take you around the property as needed. The views from all points across the property are simply stunning. Really enjoyed the sunsets once from our room and once at the beach. If you are looking to stay in the aptos or Santa Cruz area, this is a great choice. Very family friendly too. read more

Planning a weekend getaway trip to Santa Cruz/Aptos area with kiddos? We recently stayed at the Seascape Beach Resort and it was so fun. Here's a few recommendations and things to take note on. Upon arriving there was an Aloha Friday taking place (reservations required even for guests of the resort), so recommend asking during the summer months when booking if there are any events you can take part in. There are two pool/hot tub areas to enjoy, and if you're staying by the pool next to the bar/restaurant, you can have your drinks & eats delivered poolside. Also to note, you can take a golf cart (driven by staff) to the beach with your party/and beach gear, and text when done for pickup. With a kiddo who was experiencing sand and water for the first time, this was an amazing opportunity and asset to have. Other notes: Capitola isn't too far from this location and we did a walk by the water, shops, and grabbed dinner/ice cream the night of arrival since the Aloha Friday was booked. If you need anything for your room or want an early morning coffee, in walking distance essentially across the street is a shopping center with Seascape Foods (cute grocery store with knickknacks, fresh/warm to-go breakfast/lunch foods, beach gear, and the grocer essentials), South Point Seascape - Taproom & Coffee House (brews, live entertainment, coffee/teas, breakfast pastries/etc), and I heard there were a few restaurants like a pizza joint you could order and bring back over to the pool/room. The resort landscape is stunning ~ highly recommend taking in the beauty of Aptos. We did a Saturday morning walk on the premises and it was gorgeous. We did dinner one night at the resort also and that was fun..we brought a bottle of wine and enjoyed sunset eating outside. They do have experiences like s'mores and renting cabanas, but we decided we could enjoy the amenities without the extra steep fees. Checking out the beach at the resort vs going to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk was a win for us, so can't speak highly enough about utilizing a ride in the golf cart. All in all, would go back for maybe an annual trip? While some things may need a bit of updating for Seascape, it's a great spot with fun staff and epic views centrally located to beach vibes & tides. read more

I don't think I have never had a worse stay in my life. It's death by a thousand cuts. At face value it's beautiful. I've scrimped and saved and we paid thousands for this weekend, reserving the ocean front spa suite. The spa itself had a huge chip in it, but the rest of the suite was clean. Except for the black widows (multiple) in the bathroom. There's no sound proofing, you can hear every step of the floors above you. Including a cute but energetic toddler running back and forth for an hour. Expected at a motel 6, surprising at a 4 star resort, not the end of the world but notable if you want something peaceful. My husband emailed the hotel about the black widows (we killed one and another would appear) and they moved us to a "better" room. A room that the floor below us, diagonal to us, and next to us are all doing renovations all day long. And the new suite doesn't have a spa. Not relaxing and definitely not a 4 star experience and feels like a downgrade, but I'm desperate at this point to enjoy my weekend with my husband. You have to wear plastic club bracelets if you want any resort amenities, like a cart ride down to the beach that is deceptively far away. Nothing on the website tells you that it's a 10 minute walk minimum with a steady incline/decline. And again if you don't feel like wearing a bracelet like you're at great wolf lodge, you're walking. We ordered one of their en suite spa treatments for me, a massage. The massage therapist was a lovely woman who mentioned I could start in my robe. I didn't have a robe and she said there should be one in the closet. There wasn't. She suggested to call front desk to provide the robe and after waiting a few minutes, we just continued with the massage. They never showed up with a robe, which was disappointing. Our final night ended the lower neighbors starting a fire in a fire ring and smoke pouring in our slider door to the point I had to close it and not hear the ocean or enjoy the fresh air. They then left the fire unattended. The whole suite smelled like smoke and the front desk didn't offer a solution. The weather was perfect for an open window to listen to the waves and that couldn't happen. The restaurant food is good but the service was non existent. We tried to order room service breakfast and were told they don't do room service until 10am. Ok so we go to the restaurant where staff is so vacant that we don't even have a server, don't get a water refill or the drinks we ordered, and had to walk up to pay after waiting 20 minutes after someone took our plates. The restaurant supervisor took my payment without a word, didn't ask how the meal was or seem concerned that I had to walk up to pay. The second time we tried to order food (room service) I was told the room service cart was broken down and it had to be in Togo containers, and it would be 30 minutes. After waiting an hour I called and was put on hold for 10 minutes. I then was told it's another 30 minutes and the hostess hung up on me. I called and canceled the order and we ordered door dash. I called the front desk and was told that the restaurant is separate from the resort, so keep that in mind if you plan on just staying in and trying to enjoy the area. Ohhhhh! I think I am getting spoiled! Seascape Beach Resort is the bomb! Located in quiet, sleepy, and off the grid... Aptos, CA... just down the road from Santa Cruz. It has always been my, have a glass of champagne on the patio, hang out for years. I finally booked a condo and OMG... what had I been waiting for. Seascape Beach Resort has it all! It first opened in 1993 as a conference center and resort. Today the resort features 285 suites and villas, conference rooms, Sanderlings Restaurant, an 18-hole golf course, 3 outdoor pools, 12 tennis courts, fitness center, and spa services. My condo was beautiful. Updated... thoughtfully and elegantly decorated. Amenities, including kitchenette, fireplace, private balcony, room service, high speed internet access, and the best view on the Monterey Bay. Waking up every morning, brewing da cup of joe, and walking out the door was the highlight! Because a mere 7 minute walk took me to my favorite spot over looking the big, blue Pacific Ocean. An additional 5 minutes and I could be strolling on the sandy beach. How cool is that? All that walking (haha) makes a body hungry. Back to Sanderlings Restaurant to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch (yes, evening dinner is served too), on the patio with an ocean view. I have had my share of eats here. The service is impeccable, the food on point and that view is killer. A great bar is steps inside the restaurant with any libation you may desire. I love how big the property is. Huge! Condos and villas all spread out. A feeling of space awaits you. You could certainly get all your daily "steps" in... or not. Golf carts are at your beckoning call. They provide a phone number and all you have to do is dial:). Seriously! They will pick up from anywhere, anytime on the property and drop you off anywhere on the property. Even from the beach. Pretty cool amenity for sure! Every night, the lobby fire place called my name. A night cap before retiring was special and I am missing that. There is so much to do... or not! Entirely up to you. Families definitely welcome and they were all having the times of their lives. I know I did. So make that reservation. Park the car. And dive into fun, fun, fun! Our stay was fine but the place is old and tired. We liked that our unit was 2BRs (1 for my wife and me and 1 for our 18 y.o. who was with us) but for what we got it was still expensive. I guess our townhome suite could have made more sense if we had a group of 5-6 - and we saw some high school and college-age kids packed into rooms so maybe we're just not the demographic. Plus when my wife went to our patio for some vacation-style peace and views, she had a lady taking a loud real estate sales call on speaker on the other side of the patio wall. So much for serenity - whether or not the ocean was in the distance (not nearly as close as we expected). When we checked in we asked about the s'mores on the beach which my wife had heard about but it was fully-booked and did y'all know that starts at $200?!?!? I guess it entails renting one of the fire pits at the end of the beach path where you can't even see over the dune where the waves break. Color me skeptical. If they wanted a cheaper option all they'd need is a communal fire pit somewhere and a kit with the fixins. I guess that would compete with the premium individual fire pit experience - for which the pits looked pretty mid to us in the daylight. This resort seemed worn out to us and with the units individually owned I don't know how they'll ever make this place nicer. Seascape Beach Resort was everything we needed and more. Honestly one of my favorite family vacations ever. The property is beautiful and works for whatever vibe you're going for--family-friendly or a peaceful getaway without the kids. The bar is great, all the pools are great (yes, all of them), and the service? Immaculate. Riley and the rest of the team at the front desk were incredible--so helpful and kind, made everything easy for us from check-in to check-out. We stayed in a few different spots and every room was perfect. The villas are amazing--we did both the two-story and single-story - one on the south side, plus one on the other side of the property. We also stayed in a suite right by the main lobby and pool, and that was such a nice spot too. No matter where you stay on the property, you're winning. And pro tip - Tortilla Flats in Soquel... so good - we went twice out of the three days! We had an amazing time and we'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! read more

We were looking a local not too far getaway and this place fit the bill! We stayed in the two bedroom villa with the ocean view and it was such a great experience. The rooms were spacious for a family of 5, the kitchen was nice to cook in and hearing the ocean waves at night and in the morning was so lovely! We were right by the pool too and they had a hot tub. I appreciated that the pool was heated!! It's a short walk down to the beach. The only thing to be aware of is there is a LOT of poison ivy around the property so stay off the beaten path. The walk to the beach was nice and the kids got ti play in the sand. Make sure to bring running shoes, and not just flip flops like me There's a small village nearby where you can get groceries and do some shopping. However the local market is pretty pricy so I'd recommend driving a few minutes away to the grocery store. Overall it was a lovely stay and I'd totally come back! read more

First off I booked a partial ocean view room in which unpaid extra for. My view was a dirt lot. My wife and I were woken up at 7am by loud drilling, construction trucks, large truck reverse back up beeping, hammering which went in for several hours. I reached out and they told me it was out of their control. We then get out of bed to find ants all over the counter in the room. Overall the property was pretty and the facilities were nice. Just dissapointed I paid almost $700 a night to look at a dirt lot with absolutely no ocean view whatsoever. Great place for families. We enjoyed our stay and all the amenities. The golf cart service up and down to the beach was efficient and easy, especially with kids and toys for beach play. The onsite restaurant and bar were fine as well. There were a few menu items not available during our stay but we were able to pick something else. For kids it's your general kid food items (pasta, chicken nuggets, etc). We did not visit the sports complex and only used the main pool at the hotel. Kids enjoyed it and had fun. There is a park down the road which the golf cart service can take you for littles to play and burn energy. It is walkable as well, took us about 15 minutes I think to stroll back along the path. Staff were friendly. Nothing felt like a bother to ask anyone. We plan on booking another stay here next summer. read more

My husband and I came to Seascape to enjoy a weekend "staycation" and the resort is amazing. We were greeted at check-in with cookies and sparkling wine, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our studio spa room was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. I loved the concierge feature to be able to connect with the front desk via text. The one issue we faced was a LOT of noise from the room above us during the second night of our 2 night stay. We called the front desk to report loud stomping and running and they said there was nothing they could do until quiet hours, which was a few hours later at 10pm. No problem, we waited and called again at 10pm and were assured it would be addressed. I am not sure if they just never got in contact with the room above us, but the loud noises continued off and on until 2am, which was very obnoxious and made it hard to sleep. I received a text in the morning reminding me of the checkout time and telling me to check out via text, and when I made another complaint of how late the noise continued I received no response, which was off-putting. I understand that there's only so much they can do about other guests, but a big part of that is being responsive and caring. We have loved Seascape our two stays there but I am not sure we will stay again due to this lack of care. read more

The only thing going for it was the location. The suite that we used for 2 days as a group of 6 was a postage stamp of corporate America that shows no hospitality or care for comfort. There was no welcome book telling us about the space. The door cards stopped working within the first day, shades for privacy weren't working, inadequate supplies of soaps and no air circulation throughout the suite. It was stuffy and hard to sleep. Our first night was spent being upset at the poor accommodation for all the money we spent. I do not recommend this resort. Please look elsewhere. read more

Disappointing trip to Seascape (we've been here many times but not for several years). First, we had to keep our windows and sliding doors shut because neighbors were smoking and it permeated into our unit which is unacceptable with young kids - when we reported it upon our checkout, front desk didn't care and the young kids at the front desk laughed when I walked out. The kitchen faucet leaked - also front desk didn't care until I mentioned that it we realized it leaking under the sink, toiletries were out, we found a spider nest in one of the bedrooms, the lower bathroom toilet seat was broken: all in all, disappointing. If I owned a condo there that Seascape was responsible for maintaining, I would be furious. Oh, and a firepit for 4 is now $250! Views through the closed sliding glass door were beautiful. read more

Great customer service! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The resort offers golf cart rides to and from the beach daily until 10pm. There's a little villa right across the resort, however, not much options there plus everything closed early. The seascape resort comes with complimentary visit to the seascape sports club, which has pools, playground, tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball court, and indoor gym. We enjoyed our stay there very much. The rooms were nice and clean. Didn't expect our regular room was like an apartment instead of the regular 300sq ft ordinary hotel room. It was a nice surprise. It has a balcony and a fire place with sofa bed if needed and a couch. A small child will fit in the couch as a bed if comes in need. Otherwise, the four of us (two adults and two kids) had plenty of room inside. read more

For this being a resort at over $500 a night a lot more should be included in the resort fees. You have to pay extra for almost everything and nothing is really included. For the s'mores by the campfire at night it cost extra, to ride the bikes it cost extra. The electric charging vehicle station was not in service (which is one of the reasons I booked my stay here) and one of the ice machines were not working. Had to wait over 2 hours for them to bring extra linens to my room. The restaurant on site does have amazing food and the golf cart service to the beach is included which is nice. I rented two villas for my family to help me kiss my 40's goodbye. All I wanted was to wake up to the ocean and Seascape checked that box in a BIG way. From the initial reservation over the phone to checking out, the customer service was OUTSTANDING! This place isn't cheap so having great customer service made it WAY less painful. I was able to nab a Fall Rate Special so scored again. Two nights, 2 two bedroom ocean front villas for under $3k. Yes that's still expensive but way less than peak season and well worth the splurge. Although both units were 2bd 2ba oceanfront and in the same unit, they felt very different. Luckily I got the better of the two. Ha! My parents unit was dark with older styled furniture while mine was light and bright with a white kitchen and beachy furniture. We spent most of our time in my unit. I'd list the unit numbers but hey! Some things need to be kept secret and less sought after. Since we brought all our own food, it was great to have full refrigerators and ovens to make meals easy. The units did show a little wear. My toilet roll holder was broken and the shower door stopper was detached so one morning I actually got trapped in the shower and had to forcefully push the door hard to get out and the deck overhang was a little torn up due to rot I'm guessing. Other than that it was perfect. I went to sleep and woke up to the sound of the ocean which makes my heart just so happy. Although it was a splurge, it's one I'd totally do again. Close to Capitola which was awesome because we drove over to watch their October fireworks show and not to far to Monterey if we felt ambitious. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant this time but even with all the negative reviews, the place was packed with happy diners. We did stop at the bar for a celebratory birthday shot and the bartender was great! Thank you Seascape for making turning 50 a memorable one. I'll be back! read more

Best mini getaway. Came here to celebrate my anniversary and it was nothing short of amazing. Julie at the front desk was very kind and welcoming. Upon arrival there was a sweet card from the staff and a bottle of wine while also being surprised with some yummy cheesecake left chilled In the fridge! Josh was also very accommodating and made the booking process so easy. Customer service is top tier. Suite is also up to date and clean. Enjoyed the ocean view! 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone who is considering their stay at the Seascape Resort. Will definitely be returning soon. read more

This is in a really beautiful location with amazinf access to the beach. You can probably just relax here no not have to leave. There are a couple pools, a bad and restaurant. Nice walking path along the bluffs, overlooking the ocean. The on-site restaurant is not as good as I'd like here, and there is no fitness center. read more

She responded to my many questions in a very timely & helpful manner. She made all of our arrangements for a special celebration of our son's engagement. She followed up as needed. My family (myself, wife and two girls ages 6 & 8) returned to the Seascape Beach Resort for another 3 day getaway. This time we rented one of the villas via VRBO. Our previous stay was in October and this time we came in July. Pre-check in: They offer a service where they will build a bonfire on the beach and provide food, beverages and ingredients for S'mores (there is an additional fee for this). This is highlighted on the "Things to do'' section of their website. If you are interested in this you should reserve this in advance of your stay as they only have a limited number of firepits. Room: We had a two bedroom Villa. The rooms were very nice and were much larger than we expected. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen area had all the basics (plates, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, etc.) and it was equipped with all the appliances that you would expect. The living room also had a fireplace and nice balcony area that overlooked the South Bluff pool (there are 3 pools on the property). Property: The grounds are beautiful. The South Bluff pool was very nice and well maintained. There are trails with beautiful views on the property. The beach is just a 2-5 minute walk from the villas. There were not many people on the beach so it felt like we had the beach to ourselves. The beach was very clean and nice. Restaurants: There is the Sanderling restaurant that's on the property but we ended up getting take out from Village Host Pizza and Palapas (both were very good). Weather: Though it was July, it can get a little chilly at night and in the early morning. Extras: You can also reserve an evening beach bonfire with all the fixing for Smores. For ours we opted to add a pizza so we could have dinner by the fire while watching the sun set. It was just 4 of us but they provided enough pizza and s'more fixings for 7-8 people. The hotel staff picks you up from your room and drives you down to the beach. This ended up being the girls favorite part of the trip. If you have kids, or you are a big kid, I would recommend it! I have stayed here a few times over the years and I have always enjoyed the stays. The location is fantastic and the view of the ocean is spectacular. It's a short walk to the beach and you can walk for miles in either direction. The hotel itself is nice. The rooms had a great view of the ocean and were well equipped and clean. The staff is super nice. I wish they had more activities on-site to stay busy, we ended up going offsite a lot. Make sure to get a fire set up by the beach in the evening which the hotel will set up for free. read more

The view speaks for itself but the team at Seascape really puts it over the top! We recently hosted a large company retreat at Seascape, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we started planning, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The onsite teams were equally wonderful and so incredibly helpful. A special shout out goes to Aurora, whose enthusiasm and expertise were a deciding factor in our decision to choose Seascape, as we were seriously considering several other venues. Her attention to detail and commitment to making this an amazing experience for our guests made the planning process a breeze and the event days smooth. The bellhop, front desk, catering, and bar staff were also incredibly warm and helpful and made the entire resort feel so inviting. Oceanfront coastal dining. It was enjoyable & service was spot on. We enjoyed our halibut & salad along with cheesecake desserts. Visit if you're in the area for a nice dinner especially outdoor with the view. read more

So disappointing. Paid 800/night for a family getaway and won't be back. Facilities have been totally neglected and are in disrepair. Staffed by frat boys. Despite the advertising...There's nothing beachfront about it. You're on a cliff so if you think you're walking out onto the beach you're wrong. You'll need your walking shoes or to wait for a golf cart (have a tip ready). Exterior hallways are gross sticky and dingy, like they haven't seen a power washer in ten years. No housekeeping (except for me, good ol mom of course. So much for the getaway!) Fireplace in our room didn't work (we paid extra for that fireplace). We had to walk by this nasty loading dock every time we walked to our room, trolling with maintenence staff vaping and blasting music on their phones. Pools have no towels even if you beg. The pool where supposedly you "can order food" is a joke. You have to dry off, walk into the restaurant, get a menu, order with the host, then they call you when it's ready and you go back in and pick it up in a bag. Newsflash: There's nothing poolside about that, guys. Thats called takeout that you're *allowed* to eat by the pool. No service about it. The room seemed semi recently updated and decent. TV was a blast back to the 90s where movies cost $9.99 or you can watch a few channels in SD. I'm so let down by this "vacation" I want to cry. Save your money or fly to Hawaii. read more

This didn't feel like a resort, more like a basic hotel with really expensive extras. The hostess at check in told us how nice the rooms were we wouldn't be staying in! There is no air conditioning and when I opened the screen door it fell off. The TV had the most basic cable I have ever seen even worse than the cheapest motels. There were coffee packets in the room but no coffee maker, I called the front desk and they said they would send one over, it never came. The beach access and the pools were nice but at $600 a night there just needs to be more. Beware of hidden resort fees. And don't get me started on the bring your own towels to the pools issue! read more
