Keypoint Credit Union Review I recently relocated and…read morepurchased a home in another state, and during the move I accumulated more than $35,000 in credit card debt. With today's ridiculously high credit card interest rates, I was paying over $1,200 each month in minimum payments--payments that barely made a dent in the balance. Years ago, Kelly Heargreaves helped my wife and I finance our first home in Santa Barbara. Since then, she has also assisted us with car loans, refinancing our home, and other financial needs. Because of the trust she has earned over the years, I reached out to her for advice on how to tackle this growing credit card debt. Kelly patiently walked me through the process of obtaining a loan that allowed me to consolidate and pay off my credit cards at a much lower interest rate. I recently made my first payment on a six-year loan that would pay off the entire debt. It was less than half of what I had been paying each month just to cover the minimum credit card payments! The relief has been tremendous. I can't say enough about KeyPoint Credit Union and Kelly Heargreaves. Their professionalism, honesty, and genuine commitment to helping their members have made a lasting difference in my financial journey. After many years of outstanding service and sound financial guidance, I am truly grateful for everything they have done. I highly recommend KeyPoint Credit Union and Kelly to anyone looking for trustworthy financial advice and exceptional customer service.

We weren't delighted, but, you know, inertia... and we stayed put. Now Union Bank has sold out to US Bank. Have you noticed how the new model for banks is to open local, drum up some customers, and then sell themselves to a bigger bank that wants to open up in that region? That's what's happening here, and I am really NOT happy this time. The new guys take over, and within a couple weeks they start charging fees for the checking account that used to be free. That's the other new model: Fee your customers to death. I told the teller at the walk-up window I didn't like the new fee, and she chirped "Oh, the lady right before complained about that, too!" Does this sound like good customer service to you? I'm going to look around for a nice LOCAL credit union and move our money (a substantial sum, by the way) there. Do you think the CEO of US Bank has hiked Rattlesnake Canyon trail? Do you think he's gone to the Solstice Parade? Has he strolled up State Street and pondered the empty storefronts? Does he give a hoot about SB? Nope. He has no connection to our town whatsoever. Again: I'm going to find a LOCAL financial institute where the guy in charge CARES about SB, and knows that I do notice, and react, when they jack up my fees without even telling me. I told this story to a friend, and he'd just had an even worse US Bank experience. He tried to pay his dentist with his debit card. It was declined, even though he had thousands of dollars in his account. His US Bank branch (in Ventura) was right across the street. He went in (with his walker, by the way), livid, and they couldn't explain why it was refused. He's going to move his money out, too. Bye-bye.
