I recently had a colonoscopy at Westmed at Ridgehill. While my physician and the staff were overall…read moreexcellent, I have to say I was extremely upset and distressed at the lack of privacy for the procedure. The room I was in for the actual procedure had at least eight beds in it, all separated by cloth curtains. There were both men and women patients, and the doctor and the nursing staff were running in between patients for their procedures and for their recoveries. I was required to undress completely while separated only by cloth from the next (male) patients on either side, probably a maximum of 6 feet away. We could hear everything from each other's anesthesia instructions, to the results of the test, to the follow up instructions about recovery and passing gas. It was really an unacceptable lack of privacy. I felt like I was in a cattle corral. I've been a Westmed patient for many years. I've had several colonoscopies and I've never been in a public area like that during the procedure. I am 76 years old, female, and I'm increasingly appalled at the corporatization of the care there. Summit management should be ashamed and should reconsider their lack of concern for patients since their takeover of Westmed. There is so little regard for a patient's dignity or privacy when everything is sped up and organized to maximize quantity and profit. I'll be going somewhere else for my next colonoscopy.

Horrible experience. This was my first and last time visiting "Summit Health" as they are referred…read moreto now. I called on the phone, as well as asked in-person how much a small procedure would be out of pocket. They told me the price and quoted a little less than what they told me on the phone. When I asked the receptionist twice if she was sure of the price and if that was all it would cost and she said "yep, that's it!!" I received a $200 bill in the mail two weeks later. They also tried to have me sign forms stating that I was given and read certain policies, yet I was not given them. I had to request the policies that I was told to sign and acknowledge that I read!! They are a bunch of unprofessional, unethical crooks. Oh, and maybe finish your personal conversations out of ear shot of patients next time.

I'm a regular patent at WestMed in Ridgehill but it's my 1st time coming to this location because…read moremy child had to see the Allergist. 5 days ago, my child saw him at Purchase. The dr prescribed meds , and if the condition doesn't improve, call the office or send a e-mail through Westmed app. 4 days later, condition worsen and the teacher send an email, that afternoon, I called Westmed and email the Dr. few minutes later, they called me back and schedule an apt the next day. Driving to Boyce is easy sailing because it's right off the saw mill park way, not much traffic , the location has a lot of parking, there's an apple bee restaurant, Starbucks , taco and sushi place, even a gym is in the facility; the real estate is growing , I like the location, after, checking in, I was in the dr office with in mins. Dr increased the Dosage and added more medication. After the visit the registration scheduled the next Apt. the staff are great , friendly ,polite. Great atmosphere to be .

After experiencing nonstop bleeding and having an ultrasound done at their ridge hill location…read morewhich confirmed I had a fibroid, a friend recommended Dr. Alvarado. During my visit I expressed that I had been bleeding for almost 1 month. She prescribed me brith control and sent me on my way, said it was going to help stop the bleeding. My first encounter was really great and I left her office wanted to have her as my OB. When the birth control pills did not stop my bleed I began to feel a little concerned .. I decided to then reach out to Dr. Alvarado and let her know that the bleeding was still happening and that my pain was unbearable. She proceeded to tell me "Hi Genesis, Are you on the placebo or still on the regular hormonal pills? Long term, we can try other contraceptive options, but we can treat this surgically. Something to consider is whether or not you are considering children in the future. Of course, let us know if you are bleeding, 1 pad/hr or feeling lightheaded/dizziness. - Dr. A" I proceeded to reply the following "Hi Dr. Alvarado,I'm still on the hormonal pills i have a week left. I have cramping and changed my pad twice. Can you please explain more the children part because i do plan to have children" a bit confused because it seemed to me that fibroid would lead to this immediate decision. She then proceeded to call me because she could tell from my respond that I needed more clarity. She then proceeds to tell me that the surgery can result in me not having children because she previously had a patient whom she did the surgery on and it went wrong and now that patient is unable to have children. I can not express enough how this conversation affected me for weeks and for weeks I sat and really thought I would not be able to have children. Dr. Alvarado should've known better and she never say something like that to ANY patient ever again. I cancelled all future appointments with her and have found treatment elsewhere, I advise you do the same. And next time, please refer your patients to a specialist if something is not your scope of work.
