I signed up both my daughters (ages 4 and 7) for swim instruction at this facility. It was a best decision I could make for their water safety! Starting out, my 4 year old was afraid to put her face in the water, but fast forward four sessions later....she was kicking her feet, head down in the water and "ice cream scooping" the water with her hands to swim across the width of the pool.....THEN flipping over to her back to take a big breath...AND then flipping back over to continue swimming. Trisha and her staff (my daughters LOVE Kaitlin and Raquel) are simply amazing. They are endlessly patient, gentle with their instruction, no pressure, and so incredibly supportive. My child has been going here for over a year now. She is on the Autism spectrum and started out having zero idea what being safe in the water is. If my child saw the ocean and was unsupervised she would have simply run into it and enjoyed drowning .... So you can imagine that we were nervous for swim lessons. I have a history of being a year round swimmer until college but trying to teach my kid was a nightmare without the proper knowledge. Thankfully we found Monterey Aquatic therapy center. They are confident and have a great design for curriculum when it comes to improving skills. Triss is knowledgeable, encouraging, motivating and has made my child improve so much. My child has worked with numerous different instructors at this location and all have been so helpful. Tristan helped her form the beginning foundations for swim safety and swimming which was built upon by Irving and his sing songy tone and instruction that helped my child learn to follow instructions. Now Triss is taking this further and my kid is swimming across the pool because she has been taught so much and feels so safe with this group. They are fantastic when it comes to keeping my kids safe and providing education and advice to us as parents in ways to keep her safe in water and keep improving. It is very obvious how helpful this program is for my child. My child is on the Autism spectrum and because of Monterey Aquatic Therapy Center we not only have noticed her improving when it comes to water safety but in all other aspects of her development to. My first visit and what a lasting impression I experienced. Tristin was a great instructor for the arthritis class. Pool is comfortably warm and it's a workout! Don't let being in a pool and moving muscles with ease fool you. I felt it by the end of the day. I love how it's decorated with a spiritual flare and kid friendly. I think it brought out the child in me and I'm 61. I'm new to PG so this location is a hit on my top 10 list. I had to pull my child out from this place. The swim instructor PATRICIA SILVA is an absolute nightmare to work with. My son cries all the time and begs for me not to take him to his swim lessons. This lady should not work with kids. She is rude, unprofessional, and unsuccessful at her job. I'm surprised a place like this hasn't fired this lady. Never again will I step foot in this place, I'd rather have my child never learn to swim than ever bring my poor son here. Honestly I would give this business 0 stars if possible... Let me clarify. It's a great business with a really good cause. The instructors are fantastic. They work really hard, they listen to our child's needs and make this place welcoming. The instructors are what I believe the only thing keeping this place open. We were introduced to a new instructor recently and she's amazing with my son. She works with him and makes it fun. It's not just a job to her as she genuinely cares about how my son learns and makes me feel comfortable with him in the water. My issues with this business is the owner, Trisha. Trisha is very self oriented and only cares about the money she is paid and being in charge of everything. From what I have seen, she is incredibly rude to the staff and belittles them when they don't do things her way. Trisha has worked with my son once or twice and when I tell you, I am so uncomfortable with her being in the water with my son. Her thoughts on teaching is that if they aren't listening or doing what they are asked she lets them sink and figure it out. In multiple occasions, my son was crying or telling her no he didn't want to do that and she shoved him underwater and held him there. My son has left crying because he was terrified of having Trisha as his instructor and being in the water. It took us many lessons to get him comfortable again. My son was sick one day and I called to reschedule and she told me I couldn't. I brought my son sick to his swim lesson and he was miserable the entire time. One of the instructors had him and worked with him while he was sick and it was very calming for him not to be forced to do something he didn't want to do. While we were showering getting ready to leave, Trisha made a statement that "I don't think they will be going here much longer, the mom is too high maintenance and doesn't know how to be a real parent." The instructors are always happy and cheerful when they are in the water. When they get out of the water and are talking to Trisha they look exhausted or like they are about to cry. Trisha over works them and honestly I fell like they should be paid more. I have heard her talk badly about certain instructors to other employees, talk badly about them to their face, make inappropriate conversations etc. These instructors are in the pool for hours a day with little to no breaks. While the owner is out running errands for her hair or nails, doctors appointments etc. This business would be fully functioning and booming if Trisha was not in charge. Within the next year this business will be abandoned. Please don't work with Trisha, ask for Breanna, Sam or Sky. They are the real ones who keep this place up and running. But hey if you like being talked down to and told your opinions and invalid about your child because you aren't a instructor then be my guest to have Trisha. I try to leave a tip or gifts with the instructors because they truly deserve more than they are treated. I know she isn't the only owner and I hope the others see our complaints and realize there is an issue going on here. She is not the right fit for this business and needs to step down. I will be sharing my opinion with others and I really hope they do something to fix this before it goes more downhill or worse a child is hurt. I will be contacting my lawyer to see what legal action can be taken against Trisha. read more

This place has been a godsend. My son is on the spectrum and has other neurological challenges as well. He was not able to learn to swim in a traditional swim class, and requires adaptive techniques. Our IEP coordinator recommended Monterey Aquatic Therapy Center, and though we have just started, half the battle has already been won. My son had developed a fear of water and refused to get into a pool for over a year, but no longer. They have been SO patient with my son, allowing him to stop by and visit often so he can feel comfortable with the pool. They offered to play his favorite music, offered a multitude of toys and activities, and created a swim book to track his progress. They even sent us photos of the pool and instructors so we could create a social story book with his ABA group. I cannot stress enough how their patience and understanding has made all the difference in my son's attitude toward swimming. He is excited to go, and doesn't want to get out of the water.
