My daughter and I took my granddaughters here for the first time today. It was 1 hour of free play. The kids loved it. The staff was friendly and they answered all of our questions professionally. No complaints about the business at all. The place is big and there is plenty of things to keep the little ones busy for an hour. We will for sure be back. The only thing we didn't like was the way we were treated by other parents (not all of them). Being our first time there, we were unaware of the "rules" of play. Absolutely amazing . I would absolutely without hesitation recommend this gym to anyone. I had nothing less of an amazing experience since my granddaughter has been attending. The coaching staff are like older siblings to the students . Very friendly. There's a reason why (in my opinion) that Rising Star Gymnastics is the BEST gymnastics gym in the County. Only commenting on the weeknight Adult Class! Former gymnast and competitive cheerleader, long-retired but I still like to go to a gymnastics class/open gym every once in a while if there's one in the area. When I visited this was not an actual class and more of an unstructured open gym. There are instructors there that could help spot if needed, but they seem to be there more for general safety/liability instead of coaching. Overall $30 is a bit much for just an open gym. read more

It's one thing getting see your child get a banged up leg but face damage like my son suffered a black eye sometime after his leg injury. My son love lessons here, but many parents stay in their cars with little kids in a parking lot during their lessons cause they don't let parents or sibling stay inside the building. They don't let you do make up if your kids miss a class due to traveling or being sick. read more

I went in there for the first time I thought I'd be able to tour the place they wouldn't even let me tour the place they only let me go upstairs. The other lady didn't know that they were allowing me upstairs she kept yelling at me across the way in front of her students which is unprofessional. I told her well. The front desk said I could go up there and tour. Then they were telling me that I could pay the $15 fee but however the child can't be on the four hour because I have to sign some forms and then I was told that I could pay the $15 fee and I can take a tour and be on the floor with him so it's like they wanted me to pay but then I couldn't be able to have him do the class. This makes no sense I would not recommend this business unless You wanna run around in circles with them. I think they should comp a lesson because they were so rude. read more

I have so many wonderful memories of going to this gym when I was between the ages of 10-12. I was not only taught how to control my body and perform gymnastics skills in a safe manner but also learned how to become mentally tough and persist even when things were hard. All of the staff were always super helpful, positive, kind, and passionate about their work. I am currently 18 and would not be the person I am today without going to Rising Star Gymnastics during my formative years. My coaches and the owner of the gym have inspired me to always work hard and be optimistic. I was so sad when I had to move away when I was 12, but I appreciate my experience at this gym. If I could give this gym an infinite amount of stars, I would. Even if your kid does not get first place in every competition, they will still walk away with important life skills. read more

I wish I could of put 0 stars but there is no option. I'm extremely upset at was this place has become. We were loyal to them for so many years since my oldest daughter was younger to know that my little one also was going. They have changed the teachers up and it's not the same to many years ago. Besides the fact that both of my daughters were changed to male teachers with out any notice to us the parents. My oldest daughter stopped going for that reason. And know my youngest daughter also because she felt uncomfortable around him, and the teachers were not helpful when she would make a mistake. They would be rood instead of helping. We had our 5 year old's birthday there. The staff was great: super energetic, personable, and awesome with the kids. They ran and jumped non-stop for 60 minutes. Very grateful for their positive energy. We only wish we had more time for the party slot as the pizza/cake/etc was so rushed! Oh well. read more

You will not find any level of competitive coaching in the Monterey County and this gym is at the bottom. If you want competitive coaching you will need to go to San Jose. They can not and do not hire coaches with any actual gymnastics skills or ability. Most have gone as far as level 5 at most. The military keeps this place going as locals know they can't coach. Just don't expect much and you wont be disappointed. read more

My husband and I visited this establishment when we went to Monterey to visit our son and his family. My daughter-in-law stated she enrolled our grand-daughter in class at Rising Star, so the family went to show our support at her weekly session. To my surprise, the place was undesirably and disgustingly dirty. The mats had layers of chalk on them, which leads me to believe they do not wipe them off frequently. The air quality had a terrible odor of musk. My husband had to step outside to get some fresh air. The stair case that leads to the viewing area upstairs was filthy. I visited the ladies bathroom and the condition was the same, filthy. There was trash on every stair and dust accumulation so thick you could see it with the visible eye. Once upstairs, I looked around the bleachers and on the floor was fruit, stains from soda or coffee cups. The floor appeared as if it had not been swept or mopped for weeks. I looked behind me, on the ledge behind the bleachers, at the large number of trophies which were displayed. They were completely covered with layers of dust and many spider webs. It was clear to me the owners, nor the workers at this gym cared at all about sanitation and cleanliness. It was obvious there was no pride of ownership. I also had a concern for the instructor of the 3 year olds and under age group. There was only one instructor assigned to these little children. Several times during the visit, I viewed a safety hazard for this age group: children climbing up the ladder without immediate supervision (the instructor was in another area showing another student how to flip). Only one child should be allowed on the ladder at a time. As a matter of fact, only one child should be allowed on the mats at a time. There were several children flipping, tumbling, and jumping all at once on the mats. This happened because the instructor was at another station, while the children are allowed to move to the next activity. On one occasion, the group moved to the long trampoline against the back wall. For about five minutes, the instructor did not notice she was missing a student. The child was off playing by herself at the different stations. The classmates completed the trampoline and they and the instructor moved on to the next station, when finally, the little student found her way to the trampoline. Once she was on the equipment, she ventured off into an area she was not to be. The instructor had to quickly mount the trampoline in an attempt to catch the student before she exited the steep stairwell...all the while leaving the other students unattended. I was very frustrated after this visit, especially after watching these small children go up the ladder (several feet off of the floor) unattended, with at least three children on the ladder at one time; clearly an issue of safety. I advised our children to take a complete tour of the facility before enrolling our grand children in any program at an establishment. I also explained to them to watch how the staff interacts with the children and to be vigilant when it comes to safety. The ladies conducting the classes were good instructors. The issue at hand at Rising Star Gymnastics is improper manning for the small children's group and cleanliness. The establishment "Rising Star" DOES NOT exemplify the characteristics of the name of the establishment: heavenly, luminous, radiant--bright with joy and hope, or influential. read more

I enrolled my daughter at rising star when she was 2.She is now 5 and knows how to do a one handed cartwheel.The trainers are very experienced and careful about safety during training.I know some readers may think its biased to write a review because weve been there so long but honestly If it wasnt so great I would have been gone long ago.When the kids are young they really dont do anything too risky,its mostly about building streangth to begin practicing more advanced skills.Everything is padded and age appropriate.The trainers have been teaching gymnastics for years and it has been generational for them. I dont see how anyone whos only been there once can write a negative review.It is my experienced opinion that Rising Star Gymnastics is a great gym with all the ammenitys.It is very clean and nice.Ive never smelt anything bad but after all it is in fact a gym.People sweat so if your expecting a rose garden you need to go to a nursery not a gym.Gymnastics is a high impact sport and one needs to prepare themselves for that.You will need to sign a waiver.At least your child wont be morbidly obese like the rest of them playing video games. There are different things your child can participate in if your not ready to completely commit.Rest assured your in the right place if you have a passion for gymnastics.Rising Star gets high scores and the trainers are incredibly devoted to these kids.I continue to support this wonderful place which DOES exemplify thier name ,a soaring sparkle in the sky that keeps us all inspired to do great and wonderful things. read more

Rising Star Gymnastics has been a gracious, welcoming host. Not only it is an amazing facility (top-notch equipment, clean, safe, well organized) but the staff and administration is fantastic at all levels of the business (friendly reception, knowledgeable instructors, clear classroom management and gym traffic patterns), creating an awesome environment for kids to learn, explore and expand their athletic horizons. We from Ohana Gymnastics competitive team (Santa Cruz) have been taking regular field trips to Rising Star for months. It started when RSG generously welcomed us in a time of great need (while we changed locations) and continued as an act of amazing sportsmanship and camaraderie. We're enjoying our time here, so much so, that our athletes look forward to their trip down the coast to visit with our "neighbors and friends". The kids (from both gyms) have formed strong bond/friendships. The coaches have benefited from the exchange too, sharing tricks of the trade and learning from one another. Love this gymnastics place. The coaches are very attentive, supportive and shows genuine concern and interest for each child. Front staff is very friendly too. We really enjoyed this gym while my daughter went here (she recently quit.) We had visited another local gymnastics business first, and were turned off by the instructors. She went to this gym and instantly loved it. The instructors are great, and they have fun Parents Nights Out (for an additional fee) pretty regularly. We also liked the option of a free class on Saturdays. The main lady at the front desk is very friendly and efficient. We also had my daughter's 9th birthday here, which was a great experience.
