I bought my first home about 9 years ago, (2003), and got financing through Monterey Bay Mortgage, (Forrest). Great experience, Forrest and his team made the process very easy. Not only is Forrest very knowledgeable, but also very freindly. So when I decided to to" refi" about two years later, (2005), I used Monterey Bay Mortgage & Forrest again. Another great experience. Fast forward to 2012. It came time to refinance again as the mortgage I had chosen was a 7 year adjustable. Due to the current economic conditions I was concerned that i may not qualify for a new mortgage ,or that my interest rate would adjust to a payment I couldn't afford, (even though my credit and income were still good). I was incredibly relieved to find out that the mortgage Forrest had gotten for me would be adjusting signifigantly downward, cutting my interest payment in half and applying much more of my payment toward principal. WHOOOOO! This is great, local service. Monterey Bay Mortgage, Forrest & his team demonstrate over & over that they want to have a continuing business relationship, not just a one time transaction. I also have to add that the staff are always very freindly. Every time i've called somebody pleasant answers the phone. When it comes time to refinance again I will be going straight to Monterey Bay Mortgage and Forrest. Forrest Cambell and Monterey Bay Mortgage have been helping me, my family, my employees and many of my friends since 2002. I was lucky to meet him when I was already purchasing a home using a different lender, I asked if he would review the terms of the loan I applied for. He pointed out the interest rate was nearly half a percent higher than the market rate. This was my first time buying a home, the Realtor recommended the lender and I didn't know very much about home loans. Due to the short period left in my escrow, Forrest recommended I negotiate with my lender and insist on a lower rate. I did and it saved me a lot. I recently purchased my very first home this past fall. I had no idea what I was doing but knew enough that I should line up the lender and get pre-approval asap. I contacted Forrest due to a glowing article my girlfriend came across in The Sentinel. It was like 5pm on a Friday and I was going to be shown houses starting that Saturday. Forrest worked with me very efficiently back and forth via email until what must've been at least 8pm to make sure I had a pre-approval letter in hand for my meeting with the realtor the next day. I wasn't even pressuring him for one he was motivated to provide that level of service on his own. I probably could have waited until early the following week to have the letter as it didn't turn out to be as important as everyone made it out to be but I think Forrest could tell I would recognize his hard work and that I would be that much more inclined to doing business with him. If that was his intent it worked. I had contacted another lender but Forrest's attention to detail and hustle secured him my business instantly. The rest of the lending process went very smoothly and Forrest kept me properly informed at all times and never missed a beat. I fully understood all of my options and am sure Forrest got me the best possible rate. There were unavoidable hiccups along the way, as it seems is the case with every real estate transaction, but my lender was absolutely never the problem. If you're like me and very much prefer to do business with email/PDF Forrest is on top of it and can handle almost everything completely electronically. I honestly can not believe that this guy is getting any good ratings let alone multiple. This guy was absolutely the most unprofessional unkind person I have ever met. He never had time for us, never communicated anything to us, never called us back, and almost always missed our deadlines. It's a miracle we were able to close at all. When we were closing he actually told me he wouldn't answer any questions that we just needed "to get through it", he "didn't have time" to answer all our questions". We were first time home buyers and apparently were not important clients to him. I will never do business with him again nor will I ever recommend him. read more
