The evening was filled with so much laughter, fun and support that before I left, I had signed up for classes with Rich Westbrook and Maria Dawson.

As a parent, it is priceless to watch your children express creativity and grow in confidence- which is exactly what this studio allows. The instruction is top notch. The owner is a mother herself and really understands how to create a fun, encouraging environment for your children. The prices are also extremely reasonably. Since materials are provided, you don't have to spend a fortune to create masterpieces that look completely professional. Please do yourself a favor and try this place!

The owner Daphnee made the whole evening and experience very enjoyable. Cute studio with a lovely spread of hors devours and wine, individual painting easel with aprons, paints and brushes. The owner made the instructions basic and easy to follow at a even pace for all participants. There was soft background music and lots of group (all friends and family) interaction with comments, jokes and creativity juices flowing. I highly recommend Roaring Mice Art Studio to others looking for fun and rewarding art experience or just a fun evening out.

Ironically the woman, ElMarie Dyke, who was it's first director and founder was a staunch prohibitionist. The green awning over the front door can't possibly prepare a first timer for what will unfold once the stairs have been climbed. Four galleries, 16 artist studios, a ballet school and an art classroom, The Art Center completely changes all of their exhibits every 7 weeks. It is the busiest gallery space in Monterey County. Run by an all volunteer board and a skeleton crew. If you are thinking about donating to the arts you will get your money's worth here. The Art Center specializes in exhibiting unknown, local and controversial artists. Some of my favorite shows have been by: Hurricane Katrina victims, Center for Non-Violence, Carol Baker's silk paintings, Kira Corser, Kim Weston, Richard Greenberg, The Metal Arts Guild. I consider PGAC the jewel of downtown Pacific Grove. You haven't seen PG until you've seen this place. A testament to the conviction of it's local citizens to the arts who have cared for it over 40 years I am sorry it is not wheelchair accessible. They have tried for may years to get an elevator but they do not own the building.

Attended a Ugly Sweater theme night with my daughter and we had a great time. When we signed up we…read morepicked a project we wanted to work on, along with any personalization eg. family name etc. They had two instructors for 6 of us which was impressive and showed they really care about their customers and making sure they have help with their projects. You start off with grabbing an apron and listen to the instructions. First, you need to sand the wood for your project. Depending on which project you pick will determine the amount of sanding that will need to be done. We then had the opportunity to antique/distress our project. This is optional but make sure you use the earplugs as it can get a little loud for three minutes while everyone hammers. Next, you stain your piece. What's great is there are a lot of finished projects displayed to help you pick which finish and or look you're going for. We then had the option to add a special finish on top of the stain to give it a more distressed look. Then we were provided our stencil. The stencil is created by the owner using the information you placed when booking the event. For example if you wanted to put the Miller Family, a stencil is provided with that name. With your table partner and some help from the instructors you place your stencil on your project. Then you go to the paint wall and decide what colors you want for your piece. Last but not least, you remove hour stencil, allow it to dry a bit from the fan and finish it by adding some wax on it. Overall this was a great event to do with my daughter, but also can be great for friends and family get together, team bonding events, or just a fun project to do and not make a mess at home. Important things to know: Monterey traffic can be unpredictable so make sure you give yourself enough time to arrive at least 15 minutes early. Arriving late may cause you to miss one of the steps. They serve alcohol so this is 21 and up only. Drinks are not included and cost extra. Even with the apron, it can get a little messy. Try to wear things you don't mind getting something on. Try not to wear sleeves unless you can roll them up. I highly recommend Board and Brush and can't wait to come back and do another project.
