My wife has a knack for finding great places for us to stop for meals on road trips. We were just passing thru and she found this place, with the help of yelp reviews. I had street-style tacos and a grilled fish taco. Both were good and also was just how I like it, a medium heat and all the tastes of the ingredients came through as if it was fresh. My wife had a chicken breast with grilled peppers and onions. Both came with sides of refried beans and rice. The staff was friendly and prompt and everything was good. A nice place to stop that was far better than fast food in a more inviting atmosphere. read more

This place is solid for a small town. The salsa and pico seem pretty fresh - which is usually my gauge in a Mexican restaurant. The Mexican fajitas were good as well. I'm not sure they have liquor options for the margaritas (asked for top shelf), but whatever they gave me tasted pretty decent. Nice little spot. I was coming home from camping and we came upon this amazing Mexican restaurant it was one of the best and I wish to come back another day.

Great value! The photos I took to be checkin photos disappeared from my phone when I had driven too far from the restaurant to be allowed to check in and are not available for my review. Lesson learned - I'll take all photos on the camera app from now on. Monterrey Mexican Food Lynnville, Indiana *Tortilla Soup: was not the best but, Tortilla chips as garnish were a nice touch. * Taquitos: consisted of taco shells, slightly over cooked ground beef, cabbage, cheese, & tomato. *Carne Asada dinner: The meat was tough At one point we picked up the meat and used our barehands to rip a piece off. *Service: the servers are really friendly. *The Carne Asada dinner was such a blunder that my sister could not hold back from letting the waiter know that her attempt at eating that Carne Asada dinner felt like trying to eat a leather shoe. I'd also like to mention that my sister (dinning companion at the Monterey Mexican Food) is an institutionalized Marine/war vet who has had to eat some questionably-old MRE's and is ever so polite and professional towards all people (especially those who handle her food). read more

Fantastic restaurant! Spoke with a local who comes at least once a week. Food was fresh and tasty. Salsa was mild, but suited our tastes. Chips were tasty. Came here around 1pm to grab some lunch. I'm from California where I tried many different Mexican restaurants. I was pleasantly surprized with quality of food here! In fact it may have been best salsa sauce I've ever tried, could not get enough of it, even though it was whole bowl of it, like 4-5 plastic salsa containers in chipotle. Enchilada was a very simple and cheap lunch, - some meat, some rice, some beans - perfect for me. Quality of every ingredient was awesome! Chicken, rice and beans were all awesome. It does not happen often even in California! Price tag here is so low that one may think it just can't be that good for that price. But it is AWESOME! And my bill was $4.44! Not joking. 4 dollars 44 cents for enchilada, some chips and bowl of salsa. I highly recommend stopping here! Great mexican food! read more

We were driving through and called to see if they were open inside and they were. The nice lady on the phone said they were busy and ask how many people I said 13 and we are about 10 minutes out, so she held 3 table for us. The food was great! My daughter was excited to see that they had a small taco salad on the kids menu she ate it all. She said it was the beat kids menu she as seen, many options. I had the beef chimichanga which was good too and my son had a cheese quesadilla and was excited about the white cheese in it. Service was awesome! Very nice employees! read more

So glad my husband and I ventured to Lynnville to eat here! I had the Mexican Tacos (Mexicano style) and my husband had the chicken on the beach. Excellent find right off the highway. After driving cross country and spending all day in a vehicle I was really apprehensive on eating Mexican food. But, boy was I wrong! First off both the servers were great. Really polite, friendly and never did we feel like we needed to get their attention. Their food was excellent and large portions. We stopped by Monterrey Mexican Restaurant on the drive from Lexington, KY to Saint Louis, Missouri. The food was delicious! It's a family-owned, family-run business. Stephanie was our server. She was so sweet and helpful. The salsa was really good. It reminded me of gazpacho soup. They had many vegetarian options. For dessert, we had the flan which was filled with flavors I've never tasted in flan before. If you are passing by or live near Lynnville, try this restaurant out, you won't regret it. read more

This is amazing Mexican food at such cheap prices. This is the first place I've found that had vegetarian chimichangas! I was so excited we had shown up about ten minutes before they had opened. So we got everything fresh their chimis were not even pre made so i got it without mushrooms. My mother had gotten chimis with cheese and beens inside. Which to effect they were accommodating. I got the last pineapple jarrito. Which those of Mexican food enthusiasts know is natural sugar cane soda. The beans were slightly dry but had magnificent flavor.
