Thus, we were hesitant...but hungry with little expectations. Upon entry, we were pleasantly surprised to hear Mexican music and Spanish speakers in the back. I had hope! Although the salsa was bland (& I avoid spicy), we shared the taco plate and a nachos. We were not disappointed. However, I recommend skipping the mojito entirely- I had to send it back. And yes, i know mojito is a cuban drink. They knew we weren't from town, lol- so we got to talking and learned they had roots from Mexico, then grew up not terribly far from me in Ca. He admitted they've had to adjust the way they make some items due to the mid-west clientele they have who aren't used to anything remotely authentic.

We just missed the lunch crowd and sat at the bar. Ordered our beers, and they brought chips & salsa right away. Really good chips. I am sure they were not homemade but they were fresh & warm. ( I find, most of the time, chips are stale). We then ordered the Shrimp tacos which were full of flavor. Very tasty. We don't live in the area.... but, definitely worth the stop. The vibe is all over the place. You can either go casual or go for prom/date night! It's got a nice rustic elegance to it that is perfect. There are some traditional items along the wall based off the last time I was in here and it was always nice to look at. Every booth has something unique to it so if you got seated somewhere new you'd either have a new item or painting to really admire. Overall I give this place a 10/10 because coming from Florida this place has the most of traditional Mexican foods here in the Midwest!

The extensive menu contained typical tex-mex fare. I chose the beef burrito plate with rice and beans. The burrito and rice were OK, but the beans were a bit more liquid and soupy. Just OK tex-mex food.

We ended up here as a last minute decision. I noticed the $2.99 blue margarita special as I walked in, so guess what I had? You guessed it. At first I was hesitant on ordering the drink special, because commonly places premix the featured drink special and they end up weak. Not here! I'm happy to report, the blue margaritas were on point. I ordered the Mexicano Burritos and requested cheese sauce instead of the red sauce. Although it was tasty and I enjoyed my meal, the beef inside was more like pulled beef, pot roast maybe. The menu described it was beef tips, so what I received was not what I expected. The worst thing was the service. I was finished with my drink before the food arrived, and still hadn't spotted our waiter even after I finished my burritos. Finally another waiter walked by and I asked for our waiter, instead he graciously got me another blue marg. Then we spotted our waiter walk in with his coat on. I'm not sure if he left, or just went outside for a break. Whatever the case, he went MIA on us.
