My husband and I feel so lucky to have MCC in our lives to help us care for our three little ones (now 6, 3, and 1). We would not be able to pursue our professional callings while also fulfilling our high standards for family life and child upbringing if we did not have such a trusted support system and partner in place. We not only see MCC as partners in raising our children (they are a great force for instilling positive behaviors and perspectives and growing the individual), but we also learn so much from Ms. Rocio and her staff. Both of my children (now 6 and 4) have attended MCC since they were infants. They have experienced all four of the classrooms that MCC offers - and my husband and I have been absolutely impressed with every teacher and every class setting. The Montessori philosophy is a fantastic pedagogy for early childhood education. My children also have severe allergies and some chronic health issues, and the director has been so kind, supportive, understanding, and proactive with our family in keeping my children safe and well cared for. The best experience ever had by my children! Two of my children attended Montessori Children's Community three days a week when both my husband and I were working full time(me working 4 evenings per week). The knowledge my children obtained was immeasurable. My 7 year old is now at the top of her class and my 5 year old son quickly learns and retains any information he is taught in Pre-K. I attribute this to the Children's Community. From the very beginning we had nothing but positive experiences, as the school is very focused on independence. My then 2 year old son was potty trained in a matter of days and learned how to dress himself and do day to day activities so quickly. My daughter learned how to socialize and read without any issues adapting to the literary program at Brook Park Elementary. The staff at Montessori was so kind and thoughtful. They treated our children like they were their own. Both of my attending children even learned Spanish, which is definitely a benefit as I also know quit a bit and would prefer they be bilingual. The experiences my children had were substantial. My daughter started at Montessori Children's Community when she was 3 and is now 6 and spends half her day at MCC and the other half of the day at public kindergarten. My son also recently started at MCC in the toddler program. We have had a such a wonderful experience here. Both of my children have learned so much from the wonderful teachers and students. Well it's taken awhile for this busy mom to write this review so here goes. My twin boys started kindergarten today at a public school after having spent 2 wonderful years at Montessori Children's Community. Their growth and development with Ms.Rocio and her skilled staff has helped shape them into the independent thinkers, imaginative explorers, and the responsible children they are today. My twins along with all incoming children were evaluated early summer by their new school in order to learn of their strengths and weaknesses so that we may study over the summer. Many parents around me even had to write things down they needed to work on. I was expecting the same but instead was told one or two simple things and was told to have a great summer. This evaluation was clearly a reflection of Children's Community and our commitment as a family to re-enforce the montessori principles at home. Watching my boys at the many "secret in-class observations" encouraged by Children's Community, I was able to see and learn first hand my children's unique learning styles and behavior in a school setting and in turn was able to encourage their learning further at home. I am so pleased to say my youngest will start Children's Community next week and I look forward to learning his unique learning style. As for my twins, I know they have the necessary foundation and confidence to navigate through a much bigger school setting even though I know they will miss their small, tight-knit montessori family. This was our first year at Montessori Children's Community, and we LOVED it! My daughter was in the toddler classroom and my son was in the primary classroom. I got an Email from the owner Rocio of this school about my son got bite by another student during school. And I am wondering if other parents like to see this if this happens to you Here is the Email I wanted to inform you that Ethan was bit by a younger child, while at the park. The younger child didn't do it out anger or anything of the like, he is just young. Unfortunately, young children sometimes do unexplainable things for unexplainable reasons. The bite did leave a mark on his back which is wanted to inform you of what happened If you have any further questions, please let me know. From the short Email, I only received three messages 1, I am telling you your son got bite by another student with some teeth mark. 2, You should be fine with it because that kid is younger and younger kids do unexplainable things. 3, I don't feel sorry about this even it's happened during school hours. 0 stars! The director is a crook and is not interested in supporting child development. She is suspected of child neglect and a complaint is on file with DCFS. I want others to know what happened to my child. She was put in a separate room from all the other children in isolation during nap time because she is 5 1/2 and doesn't nap, so she sings quietly to herself to occupy herself during the 2 hour nap time which was apparently disturbing the other child. The solution she came up with was putting her in a room alone isolated with the door closed and told her not to come out, and when she did come out repeatedly was told to go back in to the room and lie down after being told this repeatedly, she stopped coming out even to go the bathroom, so she has peed in her bed, laid in it because she believed she could not get out of that room. I was not notified of this arrangement. It was discovered during a family event that was there. There was no admission of guilt and no apology given to me. Please comment if you think this treatment is child neglect. No child should have to be in a room isolated from all the other children for 2 hours and be told repeatedly not to come out let alone a fully functioning 5 1/2 year old. Also, the room had structural damage, ceiling leaking, it was a storage room when I was shown the school and has storage things in there. FYI - All the children sleep in nap rooms behind closed doors without any supervision either inside or outside the rooms. They are "checked on" I was told when I found out the doors to all the rooms were closed and that when my daughter did leave the room the kindergarten students (who she isnt allowed to work with even though they are the same age due to a policy that I have yet to see or understand other than if your child hasnt been at a montessori school for 2 years you cant be in the program which sounds discriminatory and elitist; ive tried clarifing this policy but have yet to understand this policy that put my child in a room alone behind closed doors not allowed to come out while other children her age worked on activities) would see her and tell the teacher which makes me question how close by the teachers are, can they hear 15 feet away and through a door if there s an issue, how often are these checks, if theres an electrical fire or the ceiling fell as did the room my daughter was in, how soon would you want an adult there to tend to your child? I never thought that a teacher or aid wouldnt be right outside those nap rooms, I never thought that they would close the doors and walk away. I learned my lesson ask questions even if you think they are dumb because you never know. read more

My older son, now in kindergarten at MCC, has been at this school since he was 2 1/2. He has learned so much, both in traditional subjects and how to be a good friend and citizen. My younger son is also a student there and started in the toddler class. He is learning so much and loves going. We have been nothing but happy with their experiences. MCC has been great at helping my daughter develop as an independent human being. Not only is MCC clean, but very orderly and peaceful. My daughter made good friends there and learned so much. She was making world maps at age 4, learning about world cultures, and is reading well above grade level due to the fantastic teachers Ms. Karla and Ms. Rocio. Not to mention my daughter's ability to clean, cut veggies, prepare food, work as a team with other kids and explore the world with field trips every single month. As for negative reviews: I have never witnessed any neglect or abusive behavior or even heard of it in the 3 1/2 years that I sent my daughter there. My daughter always came home full of energy, happy and content and loved her teachers. I highly recommend this school to anyone who has interest helping their child grow and blossom as an individual. read more

We absolutely love this school! If you are looking for an early education school that will foster your child's growth, independence, social skills, creativity and happiness, look no further. The staff here (the owner/director, teachers, classroom helpers) are all amazing and incredibly kind and caring. We have had children enrolled in all of their programs (toddler, primary, full day kindergarten, summer camp) and have had nothing but positive experiences. Our children LOVE coming to school each day and have so much to share when they come home. As parents, we couldn't ask for more! We have sent our two daughters here for summers and love the place, our older daughter is planning on volunteering to help out next sumer since she is now to old to be a student. The owner of the school is so wonderful and you won't be able to find someone who will care more about the environment and education of your children. I wish our girls could have stayed here until college. We actually met the owner at a Montessori school in the city she was working at and followed her all the way out to Brookfield because we loved how she worked with children so much. read more

For the past ten years, we have been a "Montessori Family". From the time when we found out we were going to be parents, we researched which path to take to their education. Every time, we kept coming back to the Montessori Way. Based on the development of our first two older children, we feel our beliefs have been validated. For our younger two kids, we decided to try a school a little closer to our house, Brookfield Montessori Childrens' Community, and the trouble started. The Toddler house was run by a great teacher. But. Our daughter in the 3-6 class came home with less work content - and more craft "busy work". There was no list of goals stating our daughter was completing kindergarden work and was being prepared for first grade. At the Brookfield Montessori Childrens' Community, the student was allowed to do things at will and without limits. At our previous Montessori, each child had a list of things to accomplish in a set timeframe, goals the teachers kept track of. At the Brookfield Montessori, the kids were just let loose. She was not taught the phonetic reading as traditional Montessori schools, and her reading is a struggle. She was taken away from a "clock exercise" (traditional Montessori exercise) in order to draw a picture of a tree. These are just a couple examples. The 3-6 year group, led by the owner, is being treated as an overpriced daycare. Our daughter wasted a year of development there, and we are still trying to catch her up to her public school first grade classmates(our previous two are well above their grades' standards). Further, the owner lost a bunch of paperwork on our children, making the transfer of our kids a last-minute scramble. If you believe in the Montessori Method, don't go here - they don't practice it! A little research will show there are 3-4 Montessori schools within 10 miles of this one that have all received rave reviews. read more
