When we first started looking for a daycare, I wanted a play-based non-chain environment. DLC was super close to our house, and I loved the philosophies I read on their website. DLC has been more than I hoped. We were there before pandemic, during pandemic, after pandemic. All the time they had a warm and professional staff, helping all of us navigate zoom-school. The teachers are wonderful and caring. The outdoor play area is huge. The school-age kids in the summer do a ton of field trips. They are very communicative. I feel well-informed. They are constantly evolving and improving. But most of all, my son loves it. He is sad he doesn't go there anymore. I think he would love to be a kid at DLC forever. He has made memories and friendships that will last him a lifetime.

I'm confident that my children are in the right place and grateful to have this opportunity. On top of all that, the community at DLC is wonderful. I've recruited every parent in the vicinity to join DLC, and, if you are in the market for a daycare, I want to recruit you too.

Naomi is truly an artisan when it comes to creating beautiful, imaginative spaces for young children. I was completely blown away by the setup, the activities, and the thoughtfulness that went into every detail--and all at such a reasonable price! I had asked for a Frozen theme without the overly commercial feel, and wow, did she deliver. The space was enchanting and perfectly tied into our theme in the most tasteful way. The mud kitchen, sensory station, painting area, customized scented play dough, potion making station, fairy garden, child-sized table with custom mushroom stools, teepee house... there was something special for every single child. Even my ten-year-old had a blast exploring the sensory play stations! What I loved most was how intimate and personal everything felt. Our guests couldn't stop talking about what a wonderful venue it was. Absolutely perfect for a three year old's birthday party. This day is something I will cherish in my heart forever. Thank you for making my girl's birthday so incredibly special and helping us create memories we'll never forget.

We noted that their alternate language training was to provide them with a Rosetta Stone account and...well that was it. No follow up or guaranteed exposure in class. Then they moved to the new campus ...and OMG We would here 'Mrs Kim's' voice mails every night on the phone "Good evening Carmichael Parents...I am the good fairy princess..". They have reorganized their parking loops and traffic flows 8-10 times in the time that we have been there. They even began controlling the way you exit the parking lot...yes redirecting traffic on public roads. The administrators cordened off all parking spots for themselves...forcing parents to park a block away if they want to walk there younger child in. They even started making the kids wait in the cold, out in the breezeways until 10 minutes prior to class so that their 'facilitators' had preparation time. Yes...facilitators...not teachers. My daughter was one of 30+ kids in a single class from three different grades, and not one was on the same lesson. The one teacher never had one on one time with her, and very little time to speak to even her grade as a whole. Essentially, the way they have organized it there, is that your kid is in a correspondence course, and with a bit of luck they get a visit from a teacher. They say it works for some.

The school's educational program is excellent, and they've always been flexible and understanding with scheduling. Our daughters have learned so much and built great confidence here. The dedication toward developing the whole child is evident in interactions staff have with children. (Even in moments when I unexpectedly show up for a midday pickup- this is consistent.) Watching the teachers/staff interact with kids is a masterclass in raising tiny humans- it's honestly shaped me as a parent. I truly believe that my kids are better people because of their time spent at MM. I feel deep gratitude for the staff at this school and the community they've built. In my experience, the director bends over backward to meet the reasonable (and sometimes unreasonable) needs and concerns of families- I don't really know of anyone who feels otherwise... and I do a lot of chatting with parents at birthday parties. My belief is that preschool is about little ones exploring the world around them and learning to interact with others (which is a big enough job as it is) so my focus isn't on academics, but I know that's a big question people have: My 4 year old is going to be entering kindergarten extremely well prepared. She knows her letters and letter sounds and can sound out words, and is adding and subtracting at MM! She knows about music (calling out, "Those are drums!" "That was piano!"when we listen to songs) and excitedly tells me about the seeds they germinated in class and how flowers grow. My sense is that teachers aren't pushing kids past what they're ready for, and are instead focused on building a love for learning, but that hasn't resulted in less exposure to pre-k and kindergarten academic content. My only rec is to get on the waitlist early because it's a long one.
