Our son has attended for two years. The small class size, great teacher to student ratio, and perfect play areas and classroom have been a wonderful experience. My son started at this preschool last year and will be returning this year. Like most "Covid babies" he didn't get the opportunity to socialize with other children much in his first 3 years so it was important to me that he be in a calm and supportive environment as he was pretty shy and had never been in childcare. We did have some separation anxiety issues at first, but I stayed in communication with Diane and even stayed with him for a few hours one day and eventually he adjusted just fine. My sons very first day of preschool was today and my child is "traumatized" (Diane's very own choice of words) and as a parent leaving a child at any daycare/preschool for the first time ever and not knowing what to expect, so am I. My son was pretty emotional after saying our goodbyes at drop off as to be expected, again this was a new experience for him. I had been exchanging text messages throughout the day with the owner/instructor and during the first three hours seemed to be a cycle of him playing/getting distracted then back to being upset. Based on her language and the way she had answered my questions, I was never under the impression that he was so emotional that it was urgent he be picked up right away. She seemed professional over the first three hours as she gave me updated on how he was doing. At one point she said he was back to crying a lot and trying to leave the gate but that was shortly after followed by a message saying he was distracted and seemed to be okay again with her. I was never under the impression he was so upset that it was urgent he be picked up. Just before noon i received a message that he wouldn't eat his lunch or drink anything and he was crying again and at that point I said I was going to come get him or have someone else come because I was getting an oil change. We then spoke on the phone and she for the first time sounded concerned about how emotional he was, when I got there to pick him up, she seemed beyond stressed and overwhelmed by him. He seemed immediately ok once I got there and she lectured and scolded me about how he needed me and was traumatized by the experience, in front of her staff and other children. I was beside myself at the fact that she wouldn't have expressed any serious concern earlier on if it was so bad, She said she wouldn't deal with that and that she would refund us and pretty much sent us on our way. For someone who's supposed to be a professional and experienced with young children in this field I am beside myself and beyond disappointed with my choice here. As the professional, especially when dealing with parents who don't know what to expect of their child's first day, it is your job to express serious concern and communicate. Not okay to make a parent feel like they neglected their child. So so seriously disappointed. read more

Diane and the other teachers at Montessori Fun have been wonderful. On the very first day my barely 3 yr old son walked right in feeling excited and a little nervous, but after I left the separation anxiety kicked in and he became very upset. Diane sent me updates as his feelings were evolving and after about 20 minutes she let me know that I should come and get him. For weeks after that we were in regular communication about how he was feeling after drop off, and even came up with a plan together to switch him to half days for a while until he became more comfortable. Since then he has blossomed at this preschool. He absolutely loves going to school and looks forward to it every day. He has made friends, loves the teachers, and comes home talking about the new things he's learned constantly. I've been impressed with Diane's communication and I absolutely LOVE regularly getting pictures from her! We tried a different preschool for a few months before finding MFP and the teachers feedback was that my son didn't really talk to them or to any of the other kids, that he was "quiet". That hasn't been our experience here at all. When I asked Diane and the other teachers if he was talking at school because the last place said he was "quiet" they were surprised because he's so comfortable here and talks to everyone, and I've witnessed this myself during drop offs and pickups as the year went on. MFP has truly made our family's preschool experience wonderful all around. read more

The teacher/owner Diane is horrible and did not take good care of my child. She was rude and condescending. She made excuses of why my child was not cared for properly. She said I needed to put my child back in diapers because pull ups don't work at her school too hard to get off and on. Stay clear of this preschool, horrible. read more

I have had all three of my kids attend Montessori Fun, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The curriculum is amazing, and the kids come home providing information about things ("Mom, that is a cumulus cloud"; "That's the bug's thorax") that you wouldn't expect a typical 4 year old to know. The Montessori method teaches graduated independence and self-responsibility. I love that my kids come home telling me about their "jobs" and are enthusiastic about helping with chores around the home. Montessori also values completion of things, which is wonderful when telling kids that they need to put their toys away! Diane and Ellen help the kids understand the value of pursuing something from start to finish, which is an invaluable lesson. Most importantly tho, my kids feel loved and respected. My older teen still remembers preschool with Diane (and then teacher, Ann) fondly. All my kids were excited about going to school and meeting their friends. I have had experience with 2 other preschools in Healdsburg (one Montessori and the other not), and hands down, Diane's program is the best there is! read more

My son is and has been enrolled at montessori fun for the last 2 years and I cant say enough about what they have done for my son. His confidence has soared, his social skill have greatly improved and he suprises me everyday with new and worldly things he has learned. Both ellen and diane are so patient and treat the children with not only kindness but with a great amount of respect Which for me was very important in determining which school to enroll him in. I will be looking forward to enrolling my other son there as soon as he comes of age as i couldnt be happier with the education they have provided. read more

I have two daughters that attend Montessori Fun, and both love it. They have blossomed socially, emotionally, and cognitively since coming to this school. The teachers are very caring and nurturing. I have been very happy with the care and love my girls receive. My youngest daughter was sent to school one morning seeming fine, but about two hours into the day I received a phone call saying she had a fever. When I got to the school to pick her up I found her snuggled comfortably on Diane's lap in a quiet corner away from the other children. She was given the same love and comfort I imagine Diane would have given her own child if she were sick. The school offers many opportunities for parents to come get involved in special activities (picnics, performances, holiday parties, class trip, parent speakers, birthdays, etc). Families always feel welcome and like they are working as a team with the teachers to give the children the best possible preschool experience. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a caring, happy, fun, educational environment for their child. read more

This preschool is wonderful. The quality of care is of the highest level. Diane and Ellen are wonderful with the children. When I leave my son there I feel he is in safe hands. The kids have a very well organized day which includes play, art, music, Spanish, learning and reading all in a variety of methods. The snacks and lunch that is served is wholesome and mostly organic and all the children eat together and share in clearing their place as well as washing dishes! They make it fun and I love when I pick him up early just to see him eating and conversing with others around the table or him washing his lunch plate! :) The atmosphere is always peaceful and sweet. I love their attention to my son's well-being such as they are always taking care of his layers of clothes depending on the weather conditions. Each week has a designated letter of the alphabet in which the children are invited to bring something in that starts with that letter. My son loves to participate in finding a toy to share during circle time. This has been fun and educational for him and gives me something to participate in as well. Everyday I pick him up there are art projects that he worked on in his cubby, sometimes with words written on it about what his description was when he made it. Diane and Ellen are always open to your concerns or comments. I appreciate the weekly news emails about what the kids did, Facebook updates and pictures! I am very happy with Montessori Fun. read more
