They really love the children and it shows in how happy all of the children are. My son development has flourished here. Besides the usual educational developments like numbers, letters, motor skills, he's learned how to take care of his basic needs, be more independent and interact in a group of children. I love that the school uses the play based learning method & also gives the children ample outdoor playtime. The grounds are beautiful. It's like being in the country with big tree, gardens, and fresh air. BCNS is a great community where the teachers, parents, and children all become friends. They also have a wonderful summer camp program.

I'm not even sure I want my child to go here as of yet. Why would I want to be put on a waiting list for school I wasn't even allowed to see?? Those formative years at Dunham have really created a love of learning in our kids. The teachers, administration, and parents collaborate effectively to run the school in such a way that funds are well allocated to additional curriculum that are fun and educational for the kids. The garden is by far a wonderful addition to the school and really created a community connection between the families and the local agriculture of Sonoma County. Things like apple pressing, seasonal "plant start" sales, and the pumpkin patch where each child gets a pumpkin...these are things that kids remember for the rest of their lives. The end of year carnival is always a blast! It's a close knit community. As a small school, be prepared to face the challenges of kids getting sick of one another. There is only one class per grade so kids stay together. That results in bickering and splitting off eventually with their people. They are like siblings by the time they leave the school. Some kids get along better than others. But the variation of personality types and the inclusion of all demographics really gives these kids a sense of how to treat many types of people in and out of school. in my opinion, this small country school is one of the best in Sonoma County. My son started at this preschool last year and will be returning this year. Like most "Covid…read morebabies" he didn't get the opportunity to socialize with other children much in his first 3 years so it was important to me that he be in a calm and supportive environment as he was pretty shy and had never been in childcare. We did have some separation anxiety issues at first, but I stayed in communication with Diane and even stayed with him for a few hours one day and eventually he adjusted just fine. He's learned to count and sing in Spanish, made so much artwork that he's proud of, and is looking forward to returning.

My older son would come home angry and sad. He was regularly put in timeouts and had his playtime taken away for what they called "bad behavior." They even claimed he had choked another child at just three years old, which was shocking and completely out of character. He would cry and beg not to go. That's when we knew we had to make a change. From the moment we toured KinderCare, we felt a difference. The staff was welcoming, professional, and genuinely caring. They also accept 4Cs, which was a huge help. From day one, my son came home smiling. He has been happy to go every single day since. His teacher, Emily, has been especially wonderful. She's patient, kind, and really understands my strong-willed child. She works with him thoughtfully and helps him thrive in a way that feels supportive rather than punitive. She's been instrumental in helping him adjust and grow. KinderCare also recently welcomed my one-year-old, and again, the experience has been amazing. I could tell from the very first day that he had a great time with the staff and the other children. It gave me so much peace of mind to know that both my kids are happy, safe, and truly cared for. I understand kids get sick in daycare, but it became way too much. I finally got tired of him constantly being sick and took him and my baby out as soon as I was able to. We had been there for almost two years. Lots of ups and downs, behaviorally, emotionally... we just really wanted it to work out, but it didn't. We had visited Learning to Learn twice when we were narrowing down our options. Honestly, we wanted somewhere which would work best with our budget and our work schedules. We just should have picked this place first. My daughter was a student for approx. 3-4 months this year, during the summer. In that time, we saw dramatic improvements with her behavior and personality. I believe the teachers here really do care about the children's well being. All the staff was extremely pleasant and always greeted us with a smile. They offer field trips and family activities outside of the school hours: Pizza park picnic, movie night...
