This institution harassed our family endlessly and was utterly unapologetic. They were smug, unhelpful and so terrible that I was forced to pull my daughter out of schooling. First and foremost, I would highly recommend MLC to any parent looking for a strong academic education, while fostering independence and developing a critical thinking mind. We couldn't have found a better school for our son's educational start! My Son has really blossomed in your care, he has grown and learned so much this year! His teachers help him get excited about learning. All of his teachers have been fantastic! I highly recommend the Montessori Learning Center of Fort Walton Beach. It is a fantastic school located in FWB near the Uptown Station. I first found the school through their website, http://montessorifwb/com/ My son has attended MLC for two years(Pre-k and now Kindergarten) and has loved his teachers. The three teachers/educators at the school are fantastic, dynamic women. These teachers, (Ms. Connie, Ms. Lois, and Ms. Stacey), are the heart and soul of the school. They push the children to excel while giving them the support, love, and encouragement they need. MLC is for children in pre-k 3, pre-k 4, and kindergarten. Tuition is very competitive. The school is located in a house and does not have the look or feel of a public school. Touring the inside, you see that the children are learning in a very comfortable, warm atmosphere. The montessori method is at work in this stimulating environment. For what it is worth, I did not know much about the montessori method previously, but the website for the school provides a vast array of links to explain the montessori method. The teachers truly love the children and WANT to be there every day. They greet the students upon drop off and the principal/director (Ms. Stacey) physically greets you with your child at pick-up. Overall great school!!! We were a Montessori family before my 3 y/o started at MLC. While this school doesn't strictly ascribe to all the elements of the Montessori method, it's a wonderful blend of Montessori and traditional education. Both my children started as 3 y/o's. The MLC has been a wonderful environment for them develop their cognitive, social-emotional, and fine and gross motor skills. They love their classmates, teachers, and learning. I love the physical space, which is in a St. Simon's Episcopal Church located steps away from the beautiful Emerald Coast sound. Who doesn't love a waterview playground. I also love the small school community. All the parents know all the kids and other parents. Its a community within a community! Looking up schools in the area is not an easy task when you don't live hear. We chose this school based on our love for all things Montessori. It is an amazing method. We have now been at the Montessori School for 2 years and love it. Our son has grown by leaps and bounds while attending this school. They are true to the Montessori method which instills in children a love of learning. Our son not only loves to learn but he's capitalized on the theory of advancing at his own pace. He's reading, adding, writing very well, and still in pre-kindergarten. The small classroom size is hard to beat. We can not say enough amazing things about this place. If you're looking for a preschool call for a tour so you can see for yourself. These young years really are the time to let kids natural thirst for knowledge bud. Our daughter started at Montessori this year, and loves it! I was so afraid that she would have a hard time adjusting (she'd never been in daycare, or away from me any extended period of time), but we didn't have a single day of that - she would go off happily every morning, and would ask me on the weekends when she could go back! I love how nurturing the teachers are, while still maintaining discipline. The three teachers have been at the school for decades, so there's no turnover, which was important for us - I wanted my daughter to have a sense of stability to help her adjust, and other schools seem to have a revolving door for teachers. The curriculum encourages both independence and teamwork, and I'm very happy with her progress. Can't say enough good things about MLC! read more

This school is a hidden gem. When I moved into the area I toured different schools and decided on a VPK program covered by the state, which is a 3 hour a day program (not the Montessori school). In my opinion, it was not worth the sacrifice of time my child could have been learning somewhere else (which is worth the extra expense sending them to a preschool that is not covered by state funding). I learned of the Montessori school when I passed by it off 98. I decided to tour it, and I loved it. My children have been going there for 2 years now. They are thriving and happy. They learn so much here (much more than any VPK program). My children enjoy school and they are learning a lot. The teachers are great. Some children are reading books by the end of their 3 year old program, and most are reading books by the end of their 4 year old program. Additionally, my child (in kindergarten) is learning fractions, and was learning addition by the end of the 4 year program. I would definitely recommend this school for any parent looking for a quality school in the area. read more
