It is individualized to each student (and I have 3 very different children with very different learning and emotional needs!) and there is a culture of kindness that is unique to our school. I was very wrong. I was getting notes home for things like not properly using a tissue, taking his socks off incorrectly, or he spit out a snack he didn't like onto his plate. He would come home miserable. He started having issues at meal times over trying new foods. When I tried to communicate with the teacher/owner, I was told she made an exception allowing him in to her school and I was free to pull him out. There was no empathy or warmth. After doing research, I found this school is not accredited through any Montessori programs. It is not following a true Montessori method which I would have seen if parents were allowed in the school at any point, however parents are not welcome. This is not child-led learning as Maria Montessori envisioned and I was very disappointed in the way my child was treated and did end up pulling him out. It wasn't worth his daily misery for minor infractions of being a child that were constantly pointed out to him. He has been much happier away from that environment.
