Our son started at Sarah's Montessori Schoolhouse when he was about 18 months. He was apprehensive at first, but quickly adjusted to life in a group setting with the love that Sarah and her team provided. Since then, we have been so impressed by our sons development. His vocabulary has exponentially grown, he listens better, and is always excited to walk up to the door and get in the door to see his pals. We have loved this place with all of our hearts! So soon after our toddler started school here, the changes were almost instant. He 18 months when he started, and within a few weeks he was suddenly so organized about how he took out his toys to play with, and would put them away when he was finished. Of course the ultimate tell-tale is how excited he is to go to school every single day. If he's throwing a tantrum about getting dressed or something, I threaten him with not being able to go to school- and it works (I know- breaking every parenting rule!) The final test I give him to figure out if he's sick or not is asking him if he wants to go to school- if he says no- he is sick. Every single time it's proven to be true. We are about to move to Tennessee to be close to family now that we have our second child. I have been so excited to finally move back home after so long living away-- and leaving this precious magical little school is suddenly making this move so difficult. The moment we first toured the school, I knew instantly this school was the right fit for my kids. Ms. Sarah is incredibly patient, kind and welcoming. Coming out of COVID-lockdown, my kids were EXTRA anxious about being with anyone else but me. Drop offs were hard for the first month, but Ms.Sarah, Ms.Nancy, Ms.Jenny, and Ms.Aly all patiently comforted my kids. I got text updates to ease my momma heart that they only cried for a couple minutes... Now, my kids ABSOLUTELY LOVE going to school. My one year old daughter always cleans up her toys before going onto the next, which I'm sure she learned from school. My older daughter loves playing "teacher" and does the things her teachers do at school. (She's lead me through circle time, and made sure I wasn't allowed to touch the learning mat ). Besides the literacy and math components taught, my kids have also learned so much more: * My 1 year old's speech advanced dramatically * Kiddos are saying Spanish phrases at home, which they learned at school * Science lessons (current favorite topic: planets) * Independence/Life skills * Art/cooking time They value each child and have welcomed us as family from day one. Our son started in the midst of COVID and they took not only every precaution to keep our kids physically safe but also mentally safe during a somewhat tumultuous time. Okay so my 4yr old has been attending Sarah's Montessori Schoolhouse for two years now and without a doubt I know he is ready to start kindergarten this year. My 2 1/2yr old has been attending since he was only 18months and I can't express enough how much he has developed socially. He was so timid and attached to mommy and daddy when he first started. Now he will start a conversation with anyone that makes eye contact with him. As a first time mom, I was very apprehensive about sending my little person to a daycare or preschool. For the first 20 months of her life, she was cared for by myself, her dad, my mom and or her nanny. We needed to find our little one care in a short period of time which made me even more anxiety ridden. Daycare in San Diego can be hard to find. We were very fortunate to find the Montessori Schoolhouse with a spot available. Sarah was very warm and welcoming. She took her time with explaining the policies and Montessori Philosophy. She answered all of my questions, and trust me I had a lot of them, and made me feel less freaked out about bringing my child to her daycare. Additionally, she was able to accommodate our scheduling needs. Our little one absolutely loves Miss Sarah and Miss Naty. At night, she sometimes grabs her lunch box and tells me she wants to go to Sarah's. Our child is thriving socially, physically and mentally. She recently turned two and is speaking both Spanish and English. She can count to ten in both languages, as well as can sing her ABC's in English. Miss Sarah is a great educator. She is very patient and loving with the children. She works very hard to keep the parents informed and involved. She produces a monthly newsletter for the parents. They celebrate each child's birthday and various holidays. Parent's are invited to the holiday parties and even to read to the children. We are very happy with our child's development. Sarah still answers all questions I have via text and or in person. My child is getting great care by people who love and care for her education. :) read more

My daughter has only been going here a short time but we have seen so much positive change in her. She is excited to do things herself. Her Spanish went from nonexistent to now she can say half the alphabet (she knows it completely in English). She is learning to interact and play with others and has made some of her first friends since moving from MN. In the morning she is excited for what she calls "teacher time". My 4 year old daughter has been going to this school for about two months. I decided to enroll her to prepare her for kindergarten with a dual language program. Sarah is the most loving, patient, and understanding educator. She is very flexible, as I am a single parent, and it has made my crazy schedule less stressful. Where do I even begin! I enrolled my 15 month old daughter with Miss Sarah. She is now 2 years old and it's been such a wonderful experience for both my daughter and myself. Baby kadin is so happy at this school! Sometimes he doesn't want to leave. Sarah does great activities with the kids, like Montessori-inspired stations and singing and dancing and storytime, and the group is always really happy. When there are one or two babies crying, it doesn't spread to everyone because everyone else is laughing and playing. Sarah really cares about the kids, is very flexible with timing, and even plans special activities like visits to the children's museum or superhero dress-up day. Finding a preschool for my daughter, as a first-time mom, was so stressful. I visited several different options and none of them felt right to me. They were chaotic or dirty or understaffed for how many kids they were taking care of or their wait times were way too long or their tuition was far out of my league. I had to make a decision before losing my spot at a traditional daycare and found Montessori Schoolhouse late that night. The next day I called Miss Sarah and she luckily had one spot open. She offered to give us a tour on 4th of July. I was surprised she would allow us to come in on a holiday but she mentioned she prefers not to disrupt the kids in their regular learning time. That was one of the first comments she made that stood out to me. When we visited she was super caring, understanding, and patient as I flipped through a several page list of questions. We ended up enrolling my daughter that day and have been confident in our decision ever since. We slowly transitioned my daughter into school starting at 2 hours a day with a 15-minute crying maximum all the way to a full 6 hour day. She had previously been in my full care for the first 16 months of her life - all day, every day. We practice Montessori philosophy at home and it has been so helpful to know I have a resource to ask questions of what we should supplement at home, but also not feel like I need to do everything at home because she is learning in the same way at school. At 20 months, my daughter has already learned several holiday dance routines, her vocabulary has exploded, and she cleans up after herself when she is doing an activity and after she eats. (Aside from being around other kids her age, getting to play outside, having the opportunity to be creative, and building relationships with others instead of playing next to me while I work from home). I also have quiet time to focus on my work which makes my entire family function more effectively. Miss Sarah, Miss Naty, and Miss Jenny are so kind and nurturing to all the kids. Miss Sarah is the school director and open to feedback, questions, and concerns. All three of them care deeply about each child. My family is so grateful we found Montessori Schoolhouse and love the partnership we have been our family and their team. read more

This is a great Family daycare, every time I take my 7 month-old I feel that he is in a safe place. Miss Sara is an awesome teacher, with a lot of experience. I love how she applies the Montessori Philosophy through the materials and routine. The house is always clean and they really take care of the children's well-being. The first day I took my baby the teacher sent me photos and messages telling me how he was doing, which made me feel very calm. I also love that they speak Spanish.
