This is the kind of school that you still follow on social media and still look at all your favorite teachers pictures and smile. Teachers are 5 star! Legacy, it has a great security system in the school, with an easy drop off. The school campus is small and great for little ones . 2 to 3-year-olds and even up I think to 5th. I really love the teaching style that my kids have at Legacy Montessori. my daughter and my son attended for two years and kindergarten through second and 3rd-4th. The school teacher Friday is amazing, subject, including speech, intimate, and our favorite mandarin. this one for us to continue a passion for Mandarin and we still have those in Mandarin and now have a live-in aupair from China. The school snd teachers Teach, kindness, respect, and sharing. Really, many of the things most public schools do not take consideration off. Really, still to this day, I value and love that this school took the time to get to know each family, and each child individually. Where do I start. Our daughter Arianna started Legacy when she was almost 4 years old. (our daughter has been in this school for roughly a year and half) She wasn't fully speaking in sentences just single words. The reason we had switched her is I knew she needed to be in an aggressive learning environment in which she could thrive and learn from other children. And wow! The school delivered more than I ever expected. Mrs. Katie the director knows so much about every child and how they are growing and developing in her program. My daughter's teachers Mrs. Beverly, Ms. Alice and now Mrs. Priscilla, have done such an amazing job with our daughter. Our daughter has such a strong personality and a willed spirit but the teachers set clear boundaries and even Mrs. Katie helped us implement some of the techniques that were used in the classroom we implemented at home to help our daughter with some of her behavioral struggles. Our daughter has made such strides and improvements since starting Legacy, she is now fully reading chapter books, doing double digit math and working independently. Our goal for her this year in kindergarten, is to continue improving in her studies and work hard with developing her penmanship and improve more in her math. We were overwhelmed when we toured the campus because there were children who were 3/4 and 5 years old doing math at a level of 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. In our minds we felt the school was to advanced and our child was way behind her peers. However, Mrs.Katie is right, they work with each child at the place where they are and help develop them individually. They don't pressure nor do they put unrealistic expectations on your child. Trust when I tell you, your child will rise to the occasion an surprise you! if you stick with the school and work in the areas at home where your child needs additional improvement they will be doing and working at the same levels the other children are working at in no time. Consistency and patience is key. Listen to the teachers, ask questions through the procare app which the teachers will respond fairly quickly if you have any questions and or concerns. During progess report time, not only are these teachers accessing your child academically, but they are also assessing your child mentally on areas like age appropriate growth and development. The reports are extremely detailed and let's you know which areas you can help your child to continue to grow in. I have never In all my years of having my son in school ( i.e. college prep school), whom is now 24, accessed in the way this school have accessed Arianna which is a very good thing. These teachers care tremendously about each and every student and they definitely prayed over our child. Our child is a completely different person than when she started. Don't be intimidated, give your child the best academic foundation for their future. Kids are just growing up too fast, every day is precious. As a first time mom with a toddler, safety, cleanliness and teaching curriculum are my top concerns when it comes to school requirements. My friend referred us to Legacy Montessori School. I looked it up and decided to send my lil monkey there. (I warned the teachers about his behavior issues in advance) School started with daily prayer meeting, the staffs and volunteers knew all the children BY NAME! Ms. Alaina and Ms. Faith with many unsung heroes are teaching these children with love and care according to their unique personality. He was 25 months old when he started the school. As the only child at home he didn't know how to share or working with others. In a short 6 months of time my monkey became the boy I always desired (basic manors and clean up after himself). I believe a firm foundation with rules enforcement is extremely crucial to upbringing a child. I see my child is thriving in a positive environment and developing a strong problem solving skill. We are so blessed that we found Legacy Montessori for our daughter. She started at 3 years old and attended until she was 5. It was her first school experience after having families and nannies watch her and Legacy was so helpful in getting her acclimated to school -- they know how to manage kids who cry with love and get them to move past the separation anxiety. We have had the privilege of sending our three kids to this amazing school for the past 5-6 years! I can't say enough great things about the faculty, the program and our overall experience with this school. Our kids started in the preschool program and after seeing their growth, we made the decision to keep them in the elementary program for as long as we can. This was the best decision we ever made for our kids! I love that this school has strong Christian values and morals that are taught and implemented. I strongly believe that this school has partnered with us and has helped establish that strong Biblical foundation we want for our kids. Both of my children have attended this school and we've had a wonderful experience. My son went for 2 years, until age 5, and this is my daughter's first year there. She is 3. My son is very shy and observant and the Montessori method was a perfect structure for him to do works at his level. He also learned to work in small groups and participate in larger group discussions. My daughter is very outgoing, and loves sharing time and music. The teachers are very patient in teaching her about the daily routine and helping her express her feelings. She is 3 and almost knows all the sounds of each letter of the alphabet. I love, love, love the administration and staff at this school. I love having them in a smaller environment where everyone knows their names and cares about their learning experience. The staff is very responsive and accessible and truly cares about the children they teach. I also love that all of the staff meet each morning for devotions. I love that my children are learning about Jesus and seeds are being planted in their hearts during the week in addition to church on Sundays. Another reason I love this school is the flexibility as a working parent. I work 4 full days per week, so I have my child enrolled 4 full days and am able to have her there until 5:30. A lot of the other faith-based preschools I looked at dismissed earlier in the day with no after care option. And it's wonderful for our family to continue with the summer program as they are already familiar with the school and staff. One less thing for me to figure out logistically! Even though my son has moved on to a charter school, the teachers and staff still ask about him and he loves seeing them when we pick up my daughter. My third and last child is now in the Primary program at Legacy. He started when he was 2.5 years old. I live all the way in Carmel Valley and still make the daily commute to this preschool because of the wonderful teachers, Christian teachings, and great education they offer. I will have had my children here for 7 consecutive years when it's all said and done. It is well worth the tuition costs. This year I have been very impressed by my 6yo carpool who says "Good Morning" to each of his teachers daily without prompting. That has now gotten my child into the habit of greeting his teachers too. I can really see how the older ones model good behavior. I could go on and on about how great this school is! read more

We really appreciated the teachers' tremendous love and patience with my older son, who hadn't talked to any adults until the elementary program. Now he could tell a story in front of the whole class and teachers in his 2nd grade speech meet. This has already spoken a lot for the school. The greatest school for the child development at early ages for sure. The pre-primary program is from 18 months to 3 years old. The primary program including kindergarten is for 3-5. They use the Montessori education method and let each different child to grow in their best-fit way. I really like the sensorial way for the kids to learn, to feel the temperature, texture, weight, etc. I also appreciate the practical life works, to wipe the table with a sponge, to screw on the fitting caps to different bottles, etc. The reading and math programs are also amazing and the teachers encourage every kid in their own development pace, instead of requiring everyone to follow the same curriculum. The school also values public speaking skills from a young age. The children in the age of 3-5 are encouraged to share in front of the whole class every week on a specific topic, starting from a few simple sentences. The teachers would help with potty train as well. The elementary program is also amazing. They do chapter books readings, spelling tests, Singapore math, recorder class, field trips, and fun STEAM projects. I was so proud to see my 7-year old boy making an element model with neutrons, protons and electrons! They do homework from Mon to Thurs with spelling, math, reading, writing, cursive, and recorder practice. Then they have fun Fridays. Once they even made a class vegetable soup from peeling potatoes, cutting onions with goggles, and measuring water and salt. The school have a speech meeting and debate every year. The whole class presented a musical at last Christmas. The school is also a Christian school, so they teach the kids upright values with love and care for each other. They learn the Bible and memorize verses. They sing worship songs for Christmas and Easter plus the end of semester/year celebration. Overall, we've been grateful to have attended Legacy Montessori. After moving into the area, I was really worried we wouldn't find a Montessori we loved as much as the one she attended starting at 18months. After touring about 7 different schools, I stumbled upon Legacy and I am so grateful I did! I love that it's a small school with only one toddler classroom, which makes for a great environment for my daughter to get to know the other teachers, her peers and also other staff. They have taken the time to get to know my daughter's interests and greet us both by our names every day - it really feels like extended family. Most of all, I have enjoyed how much growth she has had over the last year. By age two she was already counting to 10, knew some of her colors, and had a large vocabulary compared to other children her age. The teachers do a great job of ensuring that the lessons are geared towards a variety of learning styles and sensitive periods. Additionally, I appreciate that they assign children to the teacher they feel will best coincide with the child's learning style. The only thing that is a bit challenging is the school schedule. Because she is so young and I work full time, the long holiday breaks and various other days off get a little tricky to find additional care. It would be great if they offered recommendations or partnered with providers of some kind during those times. But that's pretty typical of the Montessori setting. OK, so Cornerstone Christian Montessori has moved and been renamed Legacy Montessori. Their new home is pretty dang great if you ask me. It's easier to find and more spacious. They've got plenty of classrooms for their expanded elementary program and a great courtyard area for the kids to enjoy lessons outdoors on nice days. The playground area is expanded as well and can accommodate different classes in different areas when appropriate. The great thing about the school remains the Director, Katie Tseng and her staff. Our four year old has been going here for over a year now and we're very happy with his progress. He's reading and writing his name and with it being Bartholemew Cornelius McEnhammerson, that's no small feat! The staff is the best we've come across and each is genuinely dedicated to each student's educational, spiritual, emotional and physical well being. We have seen our strong willed and spirited boy thrive at this school and we couldn't be happier with his education, socialization and growing maturity. If you're looking for a school for your preschooler through 5th grader, this is definitely a place you should check out. read more

My 4 year old son has been attending Legacy for a year and half, and we are huge fans of this school. He did previously attend a different preschool for almost a year, and the difference between the two schools is night and day. Some of the many things I love about Legacy: From the administration to the teachers, these people believe in the Montessori way for education, and I love that they don't just teach Bible stories. They are Christians that love Jesus and they are living examples of how to "love like Jesus". The administration and teachers are always available to talk. Everyday I get a rundown of how my son's day was, good or bad so that I can talk with him about his day. When we were having trouble with my son's strong-willed behavior, I asked for a meeting with Miss Katie and his teachers and they met with us so we could outline ways to better help my son at home and in the classroom. They really care about helping my son to learn, but also helping him grow as a person. I also like that they really try to encourage a family atmosphere. We have a few school events throughout the year and I love getting to meet some of the other parents and knowing more of the children that my son talks about each day. They gave me daily updates that made me feel that my daughter was in good hands. I cannot testify to how much I am thrilled with this school. My daughter has attended this school for over 18 months. She transitioned from the toddler class to the 3-6 year old class. I have so many things to talk about I may be belaboring my point from subject to subject. I toured several schools before touring this one. I was absolutely impressed with Miss Geneva who facilitated the tour. Her compassion, ability to articulate herself, and graciousness SOLD me on the school. She is the perfect person to represent the school. My daughter started in the toddler class. I initially started her at 2 years old because she needed to learn a bit of dependence and because I had a 4 month old who I needed one on one time with. She quickly learned to become more independent and learned many basic skills. I used to work on nursery rhymes, singing, colors, shapes, etc. at home but it was reinforced with compassion from her teachers. Miss Faith (and another previous teacher is no longer at Legacy) devoted so much time and love to her. I am forever grateful. Once the summer rolled around, she was just shy of three years old. The teachers suggested she was old enough to begin the 3-6 year old class. I know it comes with age, too, but I am so impressed with the content my daughter has learned while being in the primary class. She built a foundation in the toddler class and carried it into the primary class learning letters, counting, basic life skills, and more. My daughter turned 3 in October and is READING!!! That is amazing! Ms. Alaina and Beverly send me emails, progress reports, and update me regularly so I am able to reinforce the content at home. They are loving and playful with the children in addition to the teacher assistants! You WILL NOT go wrong at this school. My family are very happy with the education that Legacy provided to both my daughter and son. Both of my kids started Legacy Montessori School at four year's old. My daughter went to a public elementary school for three years and then came back. I immediately saw the difference. She became very confident, self-motivated and renewed the passion for learning. My daughter graduated from elementary schools several years ago and my son is current still at Legacy's elementary programs. The school provide comprehensive curriculum and offers flexibility for kids to learn at their own paces. Both of my kids learned beyond their grade levels. More important, they truly enjoyed what they learned. They have developed passions for reading. Legacy's education helping them establishing a solid foundation and forming a good study habit which are very beneficial for their higher education. I've thought a while before leaving this review because my situation won't relate to all parents with children at this school - In a nutshell I don't recommend this place for 1-2 years old. I wish I would have been able to hear feedback from a parent with a child that young before I had to choose between what was right for my child at the time and losing $1,000. I started my 18mo old here and we only last a month so we lost our deposit. I wish that there was a test period for the parents of the younger children so if it wasn't working out you could pull your child out without loosing A LOT of money. After a month of 3 days a week, All Day schedule, my daughter never adjusted and was upset at every drop off and every pick up. I would have at least expected her to a bit happy at the end of the day, I get that drop off is hard for them but after a full day and she's still crying when I walk in to take her home, that's sad - for me and her. I'm sure we could have forced her to get used to the school by staying there longer or putting her in 5 days a week but why would we? We changed to a different child care place with a smaller ratio of child to adult, more tenderness from teachers, same schedule as she had at Legacy, and she adjusted after her 5th full time day there. Pros: Faith based It looks like the older kids were learning a lot A couple of sweet teachers that I met Activities are planned frequently to involve parents in child's school life and this gives parents the chance to meet each other. Cons: Pretty hands off with children so when they cry, don't expect a lot of comfort, even during adjustment Napping - light and bright in room, crowded, my daughter never slept here and was always so so cranky when we brought her up. One day a phone call into the room woke her up. I don't understand why the classroom phone would be ringing in a classroom of 3YO and under during nap time. No updates to parents - if my child was older this would not matter. But my child was young starting here and going through a major transition. I had to constantly ask for updates on how she was doing, all I would see was a crying upset toddler at the end of every day and had to just assume why. Was it napping? Did she not eat? Is she not having fun? Is she adjusting at all? I had to ask so many questions to figure out what I needed to do as a mom when I took over my daughters care after I picked her up. It was exhausting. A lot of kids in the class. They have a ratio they keep but it's a large ration and it's apparent when you see the chaos that can sometimes happen when the younger and newer kids are crying Chaotic environment because of this ratio. Crowded drop off and pick up - small parking lot and across from elementary school I hope this review is helpful to some. the older kids looked like they were learning a lot. I wouldn't say this place is a lot of "fun" for kids but I would definitely say they are learning a lot and disciplined. read more

My baby was new to their preschool and he was scared but because of their kindness, understanding, and respect, my baby was able to adapt very easily and he now enjoys and loves going to school everyday. We started out at Legacy when our oldest daughter was 3. She was previously attending a nearby daycare but personally, although she was growing socially, we felt she needed more structure and focus on learning academically at her own pace. We were referred by a friend to look into Legacy. After 2 1/2 years, we can honestly say we adore everything about the school: the overall school environment, the Montessori program, enrichment activities, teachers, staff, and director. Through the years spent, our daughter not only flourished academically, but she learned to recite scripture and retell bible stories at home, learned how to do many tasks all by herself and craved the independence to always do so, have empathy around other kids. Basically, we were very impressed by the level of maturity she showed through acts of self discipline and compassion at a preschool age! We now have our middle child enrolled in the preschool program and see the same outcomes. I also highly recommend Cornerstone Christian Montessori School. The teachers are very loving in the school. I know at least four children who had severe separation anxiety when they first enrolled to the school. They were all able to adjust well to the school later on. The academic is excellent in the school too. When another friend's boy attended Deer Canyon Elementary School's kindergarten after graduating from CCMS. Because he already reached the kindergarten graduation level during the assessment, he skipped kindergarten at Deer Canyon. When we attend its open house a couple weeks back, we saw a 4 year old doing 4 digit subtraction. Amazing.... The other thing I love this school is its reasonable price and very flexible schedule. You can choose between 1-5 days per week, and have the child attend 1-3 of their three work sessions. I actually have my son attend four full day (till 2:45pm) and one all day (till 5:45pm) per week. The school has been in existence for almost 10 years and is moving to a better facility in the near future. The Principal of the school, Ms. Katie Tseng shared with us that she plan to expand the school from 18 month old to 5th grade. Her own 4th grade son is attending the Elementary School program there. And they did very well in the national standardized test without spending too much time preparing for the exam. read more

Teachers at Legacy are wonderful. They are caring, patient, and compassionate. They emphasize not only the academic enlightening, but also the practical aspects of life and how to be a nice, gentle and generous soul. We also appreciate the fact that kids here learn at their own pace and thrive, and they are introduced to new concepts with the help of smart, hands on teaching tools. Their teaching system is so clear that even my daughter, Avery, a four year old, has been able to updating me with her progress by telling me which 'basket' she is working on. And we also get the feeling that the system helps her understand where she is at the moment and what to work on next. Legacy is a very close knit community and feel like a big family with year round events and daily routines. One routine for cold days is, at the close of the day, kids will be sitting around in a circle, listening to stories. When I pick up Avery, I somehow feel warm. read more

My husband and I spent a lot of time researching and visiting schools in San Diego. When we found Legacy Montessori, we knew this was at the place for our children. We were the first family to have 3 kids in all 3 of their programs, so this review will cover all they have to offer! First the pre primary (18months-3 years). We started our son here and immediately saw him thrive. Even his manners, please and thank you! The primary program (3-5 years old) was the best start for our daughter, pre kindergarten. She had such a solid foundation going into elementary school this year and above her peers in reading and math! Our oldest started directly in the elementary program. (My husband and I both wish we found this place earlier and started her in primary!!!) We knew she was behind and the Director thought it was best to have her repeat 1st grade. I was so thankful for their guidance two years ago, because she is now in 3rd grade and thriving! Everyone at this school cares deeply for the children and we are going on 3 years here with our 4th kid starting soon. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

Tremendous school with professional and caring teachers! Our family has been so blessed by Legacy. They are like family to us. The kids have fun, learn critical skills, develop socially, make friends, and are encouraged with song time and hopeful, faith based messages from biblical scripture. My son spent six months in Legacy. We are so glad that we chose legacy as the first school for our son. He becomes much more independent and changed from not willing to go to school at beginning to asking for it and happy for it every day! The teachers were so nice and patient. They taught not just learning content but the skills for them to learn by themselves. We regrettably have to leave here because our of company relocation. We wish we can find a school at the same level like legacy! read more

I feel so fortunate for us to find this school! The teachers and administrators love and care the kids from their hearts. I am really impressed how much my two and half year old son has learned at school. He is at school only for about four months. He can say 'please', 'thank you', and many words appropriately. He cleans up and puts toys back to where they belong. When he takes a bath, he can take off his socks, shorts, and diaper all by himself. My son always tells me that he loves his little friends and sweet teachers. I am sure he does because he always looks very happy and enjoys playing with others kids and teachers when I pick him up. He has a great day every day. The classroom is well organized, so it is very comfortable for the kids to stay and play. The toys and work are very creative and helpful for the kids to develop their brain and hand skills. Besides the playground and the artificial turf, the school has a garden where the kids can plant, watering, and pick up fruits. It's so nice to have fun outside and be closer to the nature. Another thing I like is the ways that school keep parents informed and updated by weekly and monthly reports, even parent/teacher one-on-one meeting. From the administration to the teachers, they believe in their teaching philosophy and work in the Montessori way for education. I am very grateful for all the kindness the school showed us. The teachers at this place are professional and nice. That's the only reason I don't give this school 1-star. The mindset of the management team is definitely under par. For example: 1. They DO NOT ALLOW kids to RUN in the playground!!! I cannot imagine how a 3 or 4-year-old doesn't run at all every single day. 2. Sunscreen: they didn't want to apply sun screen to kids until most parents requested again and again. Overall, the administration is irresponsible and ignorant. They don't care about the kids or the parents. All they want is for themselves out of trouble. I won't send my kid back to this place. He's not happy at all when he's there during the spring. read more
