April 29/2026: I've been to several Montforts & this one was the worse for food taste & quality in my opinion. I had the Montfort pineapple Chicken Lunch ($21.00). It came with a side salad as well as a side of white rice as well as 1 pita. The condiments are where the money shot is. Usually they're great. The onion & the Garlic sauce are/were usually fabulous but in this case they weren't! This is where the wheels fall off! The rice was just luke warm, the chicken was dry & flavourless but there was lots of it. The pita was only slightly warm & hardish. As for the service, our server (no name on cheque) was solid & had a great sense of humour. The ambiance was old school & the decor was in serious need of updating. The bathroom was super old & in very serious need of an update as well. This chain has been around for a while. Not a great reflection of my previous experiences with this small local chain. I would go again but definitely not to this location. read more

We've been going to Montfort Brant St. for 30 years. Used to be great. Their biggest problem is they change staff every few years. Some staff there now are not pleasant, as they used to be. We do takeout at least every 2 weeks, and still tip very generously, despite not using table space. Now they argue about how many sauces you can have, the portions change from week to week, and our last order they omitted one of the items. Not worth going back to get it, so we've decided there are lots of restaurants that appreciate our business and we will not be returning. read more

We were promptly greeted by our waitress who seated us. She was very sweet and thorough. The ambience is casual and comfortable. The food was fantastic, hummus, eggplant salad was very unexpectedly scrumptious. The chicken swarma salad was excellent as well. The manager Koko came over and was very friendly and gifted us a bite of baklava. If you haven't been here you're missing out. Sorry no pics! read more

Terrific food and portions! I love the grilled food and I always order the onion rings to go with the great garlic sauce and tomatoe sauces. Amazing service and very nice and well mannered servers. They are very generous with their portions and you get a lot for the prices they charge. I eat there almost every occasion and recommend it to everyone I talk to. 5 stars! read more

THEY DON'T REFUND PAYMENTS . . . EVEN WHEN THEY MAKE THE MISTAKES. Absolutely true. Ask them! We ordered takeout. They got our order wrong, plus they failed to include two items that we ordered. Okay, so that's three mistakes in one order. Not a big deal. People make mistakes. But when I asked for a refund for the items we didn't receive, they said THEY DON'T GIVE REFUNDS . . . even if they give you the wrong food or don't give you the food you ordered! (We had to pay cash because their credit card machine was broken, so I can't file a complaint with our credit card company.) Our only option was to drive all the way back to the restaurant (after our dinner party was over) to pick up the missing items (two salads, which we no longer needed for the dinner party) or lose our money. We lost only $12 on the missing items, but they have lost our business. They clearly value money more than their customers. read more

I was just sitting inside for 10 minutes, after having ordered my food... waiting for SOMETHING? Some kind of activity in the kitchen. ANYTHING?! So I get up and leave, and the cook is sitting out front talking to his buddy. I mention that it's really arrogant/ignorant to ignore their customers like that... Making it seem that his time is more important than the customers'. His reply was "I'm not allowed to be five minutes?" (???) In actuality, it was five minutes until my order was taken, and then another 10 after that the cook guy was still sitting outside with his buddy. (Hence me getting up to leave after 15 minutes, without any food being even started yet.) I mentioned that I used to love this place. His flippant reply was "have a good night" as he (finally) went back inside. I'm not usually one to complain; but there's a difference between "bad" service, and someone acting SO supremely arrogant... and like, you, as their customer are a major inconvenience to them. It blew my mind how this guy acted. I don't get offended easily, but I found his attitude and my treatment DEEPLY offensive. Which is why I'm taking the time to write this, and assert that I will NEVER be giving them my business again. I have been big fan of Montfort for years now. I had my first falafel at Montfort about 10 yrs ago! Trust me when I say that since then, I have had my fair share of falafel pita and none come close to those at Montfort. The falafel is always cooked perfectly and the sauces they serve them with are unreal! There's your classic garlic sauce (but nobody does it like Montfort) and their signature onion chutney, my personal favourite. The super falafel is a TON of food for great value - a falafel pita served with a salad and your choice of rice or home fries. Pssssst *go for the rice and mix in some garlic and onion sauce - you won't be disappointed. I have a been to a few locations - Trafalgar and Burloak and have always had a great experience but I do have to admit, despite the food being delicious at the Brant location, I was pretty disappointed by the service and general ambience. The music was WAY too loud and really obnoxious and off putting like euro club music. There's a time and place for everything but catching up with your dad over dinner at Montfort was neither the time nor place for bumpin' euro beats. Both my dad and I ordered a fattoush salad with our meals and were given the house salad and still charged for the fattoush? It seemed like the staff were more interested in hanging out and chatting with one another than the customer's experience which was kind of a bummer. Come on, Montfort, you're better than this! Keep the good food coming but I think I'll stick to your Burloak & Trafalgar locations from now on. read more

Slow service, never seen a worse attempt at a Fattoush Salad or Chicken Schwarma sandwich. I've tried this place 3 times and will not be returning due to slow service and poor interpretation of mediterranean cuisine. We sat for about 30minutes before any attempt was made to serve us. The wait staff were running around filling orders for take-out and didnt bring out any water or pitas until our meal came out 30min after that. I give the older woman credit for apologizing for the younger waitress' incompetence, so there was some attempt to reconcile things which is why I didnt give them 1 star. Patrons that walk in your door should be the first priority! I am from Windsor/ Detroit where we have a huge middle eastern population and an abundance of Middle Eastern & Mediterranean cuisine to choose from. Montfort's version of a chicken schwarma is a pita stuffed with a pound of meat and not one shred of vegitable. The garlic sauce was the only thing that broke the monotony which helped me choke it down. The garlic sauce was more like a garlic salad dressing and not the clarified butter garlic paste that I'm accustomed to. The fattoush salad was the next disappointment; the menu description had mint listed but I could not find a single trace of one. They also use their "House" dressing which was not a proper fattoush dressing. By definition, a fattoush dressing is supposed to be zesty and contain sumac. It was essentially just a house salad with some pita crisps thrown on top (which they charge you for). I've read another reviewer also call them out on this. I agree with another reviewer that commented back in 2012...The music is a bit obnoxious; Too loud and not the right genre. I used to live across the street from this place. I will start off by saying I find it expensive. I usually get the shawarma. I've been eating Shawarmas for 10 years so I know them fairly well. This is the pocket style, not a wrap. There is only meat in it, no sauce, no veggies. That's their style. No toast on the pita either. The chicken is shaved and kept in a hot table. So expect the meat to be usually dry. Heavy, heavy spice on the chicken. Your basically getting chicken with your spices. There's no enhancement of the meat with the spices, where it compliments the meat and highlights its best qualities. I went here one night after boozing at the bar (I believe they're open till 4am) and I had the Kefta burger which is a hamburger patty with traditional Kefta seasoning in a pita with cucumber and tomatoes and lettuce on the inside. I asked for hot sauce and it was absolutely delicious. I devoured the entire thing so fast that I ordered another double to go while I finished my fries. Waaay better then hitting the McD's drive through on the way home. Next I went during the day for lunch time and that delicious kefta burger I had been dreaming about...? Well, turns out it isn't as great when you're sober and not starving. It was edible but nothing to write home about. The point of this review is that I think the ambiance and quality of the food is really good if you're a party goer who has been out all night. It's a great late night option. If you're looking for delicious mouth watering food while on lunch break, maybe not so much. Although the place was pretty packed every time I've been, no matter the time of day. read more

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I've been here a few times (I'm not from Burlington, so it's not THAT often, but still) and it's always been delicious. I had the falafel pita with fries and it was amazing. I think if I was starving, it wouldn't have been enough, but for a lunch portion, it suited me just fine. And their garlic sauce is devine! We kept having to ask for refills of it because we were all heaping it on our food like it was going out of style. Everyone at our table enjoyed what they ordered, so considering we had a decent smattering of the menu, this leads me to believe that their food is all quite good. Great food! I came here with my parents to celebrate my mom's birthday. Unfortunately I was dealing with a bad migraine so I couldn't enjoy my meal to the full extent. I ordered the Shawarma on rice, my dad ordered the kafta, and my mom ordered the chicken souvlaki. Each bite was packed with flavour!! It was truly delicious but I'll definitely have to come back when I'm not fighting a migraine so that I may enjoy the food that much more! The staff were extremely friendly and I felt so bad that they saw my food barely touched but they seemed very kind/compassionate when asking if I wanted to take it home. Montfort has got to be one of the best middle eastern type food restaurants in the world! Always super fresh, fantastic recipes, decent prices, comfortable.....I have been coming here since the 1990s with family and friends. I lived in Miami for 26 years and would come anytime I visited Toronto, driving all the way to Oakville or Burlington just for this incredible food. Now that I moved back to Toronto, I try to make the trek out west as often as I can. If ONLY Montfort would open a restaurant in Toronto! They would do a booming business and make so many people happy! I usually get the chicken shawarma pita and the 4 maza salads. Sometimes I switch out for a salad with chicken shawarma. This is a cozy little Mediterranean diner with good food and fast service--almost too fast! That is, we weren't done our appetizers before our soups and salads came, and the main courses weren't far behind! The portions are large, so make sure your eyes aren't bigger than your stomach! I had lamb, because we never have it at home--it was very tender. I love this kind of food. It seems to me that the eastern Mediterranean countries all eat similar food, and they could resolve their differences if they would simply sit down and share a meal! read more

I love the falafel here. Its always crispy outside and soft inside. The service is quick and the restaurant is always clean.

I love this place and have been eating here for almost 10 if not more years! This is my go-to place when I come home to visit my family. A major plus is that it is open very late (3 am I think). I tend to stick to the same order (pita burger) just because it is very tasty and never disappoints however I have had other entrees there. One "negative" comment that I have is that the prices have gone up considerably to the point where I don't come here as often as I did in the past. Also the service (waitress) is not the best..they don't come check up on you and sometimes come begrudgingly. Because of that, I take my food to go so that I can eat in peace. I used to love montfort and over the years their food quality and service have gotten really bad!! The last time I went to this location, my mum had a candy from a previous customer stuck on the INSIDE of her glass (the waitress obviously did not notice before serving my mum her beverage). We noticed it only after we had both drank from the glass. We waited there for nearly 15 minutes with no sign of any wait staff until we were able to find a girl cleaning tables. We had asked for our waitress however the waitress didn't come over, but the manager did and he was pretty cocky... He literally said shit happens and didn't apologize. The food they're eating looks good and the guys who cook it, even better. (The kitchen is exposed so you can see them working.) I get take-out on Wednesdays when they have their chicken souvlaki dinner special. You get a salad, generous serving of chicken with rice or home fries, pita, and a delicious garlic sauce for just over $10 with the tax. You're not likely to find a better value. read more

I went here for the first time today with high expectations. I live 5 minutes away & always see the place packed. However, I was deeply disappointed. It took 40 minutes alone just to get a bowl of rice which was only part of a kids order. On the front of the menu a deal for mixed grills was advertised which was only available on Sundays, however I wasn't even charged for the deal on my bill which by then I was just completely over the place & wanted to leave. Customer service was awful, no one ever came to ask how our meal was, give refills etc. Took 15 minutes just to ask for our bill. People who came after us got their food before us. Food however was definelty overpriced. Good, not great & overpriced. Won't be coming back. read more

I've been a few times and it's my favorite place in Burlington AND Hamilton for middle eastern food. I always get Falafel and Hummus, sometimes I get the Jebneh (knock my socks off fantastic fried cheese!). My Montfort partner in crime has tried much more off the menu and she's never been disappointed either. Everything tastes fresh and is always HOT. Even with apps I've never paid more than $25 for a meal. Very affordable. The servers can be a bit slow if it's busy. I appreciate that they aren't constantly interrupting my meals actually - but they are always available to flag down if I need anything. The Montforts salad dressing is crazy good - I'd never bother "upgrading" salad to Greek or Caesar. Love that house salad so much!! The overall atmosphere is wonderful, the staff joking and talking in Arabic sends me back to time spent in the middle east. I recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly! read more

I went here on a date night with my boyfriend and we were very impressed with the appetizers, less so with the mains. We got a four-part appetizer for two but wished we had got the one for four/five people and eaten that rather than gotten mains. Although we didn't love the main event we really enjoyed the appetizer's and decided we would go back for that. Went to Montfort on Brant in Burlington tonight, have been there many times. This time was a hot mess and we ended up leaving! Two of us ordered the shwarma and beer special that was advertised on the poster beside us. Looked good. Before I got a chance to order my own food, their meals were plunked down on the table. They sure didn't look like the poster as it didn't include veggies, the garnish or any of the sauces. In fact, we mentioned that to one of the waitresses and she flippantly informed us that the poster is like McDonald's - it always looks better in the picture - and she walked away. At this point I still hadn't even ordered! I finally got a chance to order and when we asked the staff to keep the two shwarma warm until my order arrived, they put them on the counter, but not under the heat lamp. And there they stayed...cold shwarma. We talked to the staff, told them that we were leaving and why, and they were kind of indifferent. It's a shame because all they really needed to do was apologize and fix it. Perhaps some fresh shwarma? I felt bad for original waiter as he was attentive enough, but the kitchen staff and the waitress we spoke to just didn't seem to care.
