i was a student at Montgomery High School. i was bullied repeatedly for things completely out of my control- being autistic and queer, mainly. i had so many points where i would go to the assistant principal's office crying. i'd make reports about the experiences of being bullied and beg them to do something, to which they never did.
one of the things that i (and many others) got bullied for was wearing choker necklaces. for some reason, mean students would say it's "because you're trying to look like a dog," or whatever. regardless, the bullying got very intense all over a necklace, and i (again, and many others) complained to the administrators about this.
what was their solution? was it to address the bullying? NOPE!! they made chokers against the dresscode. guess what!! THE BULLIES JUST FOUND OTHER THINGS TO BULLY US ABOUT!!
Ms. Merchant, the biology teacher, told me to grow up for having a panic attack in her class, and then lied to my face when i brought it up later, saying "i never said that!" instead of just like "oh i'm sorry"
there was a student who wrote a violent hate email to the one queer teacher that was so vile that she ended up quitting, and the student was given a ridiculously light punishment for it.
basically, if you want your child going to a school where they could comfortably go to the administrators about being bullied and know that they're being taken seriously, DO NOT send them to MHS. read more
