Now our second child is thriving there as well, after his older brother has moved on to elementary school. From very early on, both kids were happy, sociable, and came home with all sorts of knowledge and skills they'd learned there--the actual learning is really impressive. This was our 3rd daycare in the area, after the first one shut down and the second one wasn't a good fit for this particular kid. We were frankly kind of desperate, and totally turned off by the corporate cartoon theme which, on the surface, was not at all the vibe we'd been looking for. But wow, did we learn our lesson. Daycare centers are run by real people, after all, and these people are wonderful. The building is safe, clean, bright, and full of resources while absolutely spacious and uncluttered. It's comforting, stimulating, and the walls are covered in a constantly changing array of children's projects at all levels. This is not a place where you park your kid and they babysit them--it's a genuine school, with the parent-facing part of it as easy as if it were "just a daycare." I would recommend this place to everyone I know--if they didn't already send their kids there! So many families that we know from TLE are also involved in other parts of our family's life now, and many that we met elsewhere have discovered TLE Montgomery on their own. In a way, it's a major nerve center of our sense of community in Montgomery at this early stage in our children's lives.

I haven't heard of or seen a school environment as comprehensive in child development as the Waldorf system. Their approach to academics is creative and instills in the child a love for learning. Along with all of the academics their is a strong interest in nature, the arts, music, and interpersonal development creating an environment that is deeply enriching and fulfilling. As someone who was only 18 months old when Covid locked everyone down for a year, we started our daughter in 2021 in the 3's class. CHNS handled all Covid safety protocols gracefully, and school became our 3 year old daughters favorite place, even masked and socially distant. Moving onto this year in the 4's class with a more normal, mask free experience, she flourished even more. The staff is so warm, loving, and nurturing and most have been teaching at CHNS for decades. These teachers are the reason CHNS is such a special place! They truly know how to teach children to foster independence, problem solving, and relationship building at such a young age. Our daughter has made lasting friendships that we know will continue for years to come! One of the best parts of CHNS is the co-op model, which allows the families to not only experience a day in the classroom with their child, but to also get to know their classmates and the other families. This was a great social outlet to meet other local families and especially great if you are new to the area or looking to make other friends with parents of kids the same age as your own.
