I'm writing this to share an honest experience for other families who may not fully understand how…read moreprivate school policies can impact them during difficult times. My children attended this school and were happy there. It was the only school they had known, and they had built relationships, routines, and a sense of stability within that environment. When our family experienced financial hardship due to job loss, we were no longer able to meet the tuition requirements. As a result, our children were asked to leave. I understand that private schools operate as businesses and rely on tuition. However, what was difficult was the lack of flexibility, support, or transition planning for the children. The process felt abrupt, and there was little acknowledgment of the emotional impact on them. For young children, being removed from their school environment is not just a logistical change, it's a significant emotional disruption. That part did not seem to be considered in how the situation was handled. I'm sharing this so other parents are aware: If your financial situation changes, there may be limited options, and the outcome can be immediate. If you are considering this school, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions about: -financial aid policies during unexpected hardship -transition support if a family can no longer afford tuition -how the school supports children emotionally in those situations The education itself may be strong, but families should understand the full picture before committing.

We have been a Chapin family for eleven years…read more My older daughter had attended Chapin since pre-k and graduated last year. She was more than ready to take on the challenges of secondary school. Her freshman year was an academic success! Throughout her years at Chapin, she has grown to be an independent, well-rounded individual. She's not afraid to email teachers about assignments, ask questions when she is uncertain about something discussed during class, or voice her opinion about anything. We owe those positive attributes to Chapin. My younger daughter has also attended Chapin since pre-k. She continues to amaze us with how much she's learned in just a short amount of time. We owe that to the excellent Chapin teachers who not only educate their students but also care about their growth and development. My husband and I are excited for my little one to experience all that Chapin has to offer in the coming years. Chapin is an extraordinary school. The decision to send our children here is one of the best decisions that my husband and I have ever made.

Children can take high school math in middle school or do science that they normally could not do. My son attends this school and he is a better, brighter person for it. He is naturally very intelligent and with "many hours" of focused homework, was an A, B student in the public school system. We chose the Lewis School because he is slightly back and white, very sensitive and emotional. For many years he was bullied for being different. And every year we saw this amazingly bright, happy, talkative kid become negative, sad and gloomy. He didn't want to go to school, refused homework and the most upsetting part as a parent was he lost faith in himself. Then we found The Lewis school and OUR not just his life changed. Just after a couple months of attending The Lewis School we saw amazing changes in him. He's happier, wants to go to school, talkative and can handle situations better. He doesn't fight us to go to school or to do his homework (Which he still hates btw). This is the "LEWIS GIFT". They provide children with the love and support our children need. They understand each child and provide proper clinical advice and aid to help them grow into young adults in a stress less environment. This school is not just for learning differences, although they are experts in many fields including dyslexia (which come in many levels similar to autism), but for all children who want to learn in a better accepting environment. They build confidence and leadership in a loving understanding way. Words cannot describe what the school has done for my child as well as many other children and families. As a parent you know your child's happiness is priceless. They need the chance to open up and focus on being the best they can be. I, we truly believe The Lewis School is the only place that can open that window.

They have a weekly class blog so that you know what is going on in the class. Its only been a month of school and they already learned how to do tallies, graphs, probability. Its very focused on the core academics. My son is taking the after school program so now he is learning 2 languages Mandarin and Spanish. I thought he would hate it instead he looks forward to it and comes home talking to me like hey do you know how to count in Spanish? (He learned this just after 1 week of class) They also have yoga classes and the teacher is amazing, he can't wait to show me all these poses. I have seen his confidence grow so much in the past month. In his previous school he was a very quick learner and I was worried he wouldnt be challenged and just bored. I couldn't be more wrong. They tailor the homework and work to your child and aren't afraid to push them. If you are looking at private schools, in my opinion PJS is the top tier. I toured all of them in the area, PDS, Chapin, Friends etc. and at the end I took a chance with PJS only because I loved the open space. I was worried that academically it might not have been up to par with the other private school or public schools (I live in one of the top districts in the area). I have two friends going to the private schools mentioned (Kindergarten) and PJS quite frankly raises the bar. I think it is because of the new curriculum they have been using. This is a great school. You will not be disappointed sending your child here, if I only knew then what I do now. The choice would have been a no brainer.

The school has helped him grow and learn, but most importantly PJS has helped him grow to love learning! In his lessons he has found a joy in discovery and growth and a curiosity that will serve him well for the rest of his life. Our PJS student tells me that "This school is the best! The teachers are all really nice, we have great lessons and projects, and we learn a lot!" The IB orientation helps to teach in a way that each individual student can get the most from the lessons. Being part of an international community as an IB school is present in the population of the school and the curriculum they teach. Princeton Junior School is not just important to our rising 5th grader. Our entire family has found a community in PJS that supports our child and all of us, that has introduced us to families that have become our friends, and that we are proud to be a part of. Our child is the most important thing in our lives, and Princeton Junior School is a place that has earned our trust and our gratitude in helping him develop and grow into a strong student and curious global citizen.
