While I've had positive visits in the past, my last visit was disappointing. The reason for…read morerequested diagnostics were not fully explained and there was no mention of billing so that I could make an informed decision. I should have read the forms more carefully, but it would be helpful for the physician and technicians to go over them verbally. I was told later that there was no way to no what the cost would be. However, I was given a bill promptly after the diagnostics with an amount. In other practices, such as optometrists, a full rundown of costs are given before you purchase an item. It isn't difficult. So, I find it unconvincing that a routine test and standard insurance deductibles could not be estimated beforehand. Another issue I encountered at this office during several visits was the display of a bible -- once in an exam room and later in the waiting room. I was told that patients sometimes leave items. But there was no indication that they intended to do anything about it. I find it hard to believe people randomly leave items in exam rooms without them being noticed and removed. I think it's important to create a neutral and welcoming environment for all patients, not just a select group. So, Lewis Gale Physicians apparently are either proselytizing or pandering. Neither is useful in a medical practice. I will likely be looking for an alternative that treats all patients respectfully, discloses costs, and communicates more effectively.

When I walked in I was instantly greeted with a huge smile from the lady at the front desk. I was taken back soon after signing in. Every single person I met was absolutely wonderful, welcoming, kind, and very easy to talk to. When talking with Amber Neal I instantly felt comfortable and I felt like I was in very good hands with this office. I have never had such an excellent experience and I am very grateful to now have such a supportive and kind family physician. I would and have already recommended this office to every single person I know in the area. If I could give this office 10 stars, I would.

My husband is a retired Farmer. And I will apologize upfront for how long this review is. It's my…read morefirst review that I've written, and I want to make sure and sing Dr. Harrell's praises. Of course my husband's hearing has been horrible. Also, depending on who it is ( me ) he acted like it was almost to the point of no existence. He never really had time, ( or took ) the time to visit a Dr. throughout the years. I realized that he wasn't hearing well & that it was of course just getting worse. He was agreeing to things our Grandchildren where asking for or to do, which was getting him into trouble with everyone. He finally gave in & had me look around for a Dr. & make the appointment. I (we), made the decision to go to The Hearing Clinic located on Plantation Rd. in Blacksburg,Va. Hubby was nervous and he is somewhat shy, so I wasn't sure how this visit was going to turn out. As soon as he walked into the office and the receptionist welcomed him, he felt more at ease. The receptionist was very kind & helpful. He did not have to wait to see Dr. Harrell. He was taken back right on time. Dr. Harrell, was a great listener & he explained everything to my husband after the testing in great detail. The testing showed hearing loss & he needed hearing aids. I'm sure everyone knows how expensive they can be & Insurance companies do not help much. Dr. Harrell went over the options & pricing and could tell how overwhelmed he was about the situation. Dr. Harrell let him know, that there are times when they have hearing aid sets donated to the office and asked if that would be something he would be interested in. Of course, he said yes. Dr. Harrell, had a pair of hearing aids that he said he could loan Joe for two weeks. That way Joe could get the feel of them and of course hear clearly. Dr. Harrell, programmed them to what my husband needed, It was right at Christmas. Of course, we accepted his offer and my husband didn't actually realize how much he had been missing, until the family was together on Christmas day. Six grown children & their spouses & 9 wonderful Grandchildren. In two weeks, we went back for the follow up and The Hearing Clinic & Dr. Harrell, had a set of donated hearing aids. Dr. had them already programmed and ready for my husband. We were overjoyed to say the least and in this day & time, with the way the world is, in general & in the medical field, this definitely helped our faith in Dr.'s and what some of them will do to help their patients. As you can tell, I can't say enough about this Dr. and his office. We will always be thankful for the choice we made to go to this very one. Thank You, to The Hearing Clinic & Dr. Harrell.

I called The Hearing Clinic and was so pleased that we were offered an appointment a couple hours later the very same day! Melissa came out to the car being very respectful of the desire to maintain safe protocols during this pandemic. After taking the device inside, within 5 minutes the Dr returned to the car with the details of the required fix. We were advised to return in an hour and he himself would repair the device!! Sure enough, after running a few errands we returned and have a well-functioning hearing aid!! A blessing for sure. Thank you The Hearing Clinic for demonstrating such care, compassion and professionalism!!!

I was thrilled to locate one to my hotel and an office reviewed so highly. I called the office and spoke to the receptionist who was extremely professional and caring to my out of town situation. Although short handed with the doctors nurse practitioner off they squeezed my son in within 15 minutes. Upon arrival our insurance was accepted and forms completed. The office staff was exceptional and wonderfully efficient and had us inside with the nurse in 10 minutes. The nurse swabbed for influenza which was suspected. Doctor Barry came in within 10 minutes and had a warm bedside manner. He took his time with my 13 year old son and treated him like his own patient. A complete exam was administered as he waited on the results. He discussed with my son why he was in town, which was a swim meet. The results came up over his iPad and were positive for influenza A. A prescription was written for Tamiflu since he only became symptomatic today. He discussed the medicine and the typical time of recovery. He also discussed his weekend swimming schedule limitations. Dr. Barry also prescribed me Tamiflu as preventive since we are in closed quarters at the hotel. I cannot recommend Dr. Barry enough. If he treats an out of towner this well can you imagine being his patient. A big 5 STARS and thank you!
