I am a huge fan of soaking in natural hot springs and as a medical professional I know the benefits. Finding the right space is important too. The hot springs aquifer runs under this town and so this camp has 3 spring fed tubs that are available to guests for soaking 24/7. Two are private and a larger one is communal. Guests take turns on a FCFS basis. The camp itself is not big. It's a cozy square courtyard within a privacy wall and they have an eclectic mix of accommodations. There are 6 "stalls" for RVs to back in with full hookups available. It is possible to pitch a tent too. There is a really cool "dome" building and they have a Yurt! They also have three vintage trailers that are awesome and reasonably priced. There are two very nice, clean bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a spring-fed jacuzzi tub. While the neighborhood outside the wall is old and rundown, this camp is a wonderful oasis. Fully gated and secure with no worries here. Out the gate and 5 mins of walking is a great local Taproom and brewery which gets active in the afternoon and evenings. Topping off all this goodness is the camp host, Debra. She is amazing. So friendly and welcoming and focused on making certain all guests are happy and comfortable. If you're coming to TorC, and you love a very relaxing, laidback vibe, this is where you want to stay.

I wrongly made an assumption of what I was going to encounter (One in TorC was like the Twilight Zone). To my very pleasant suprise the rate was more than reasonable and as an added bonus, everything at the dump site worked perfectly and was clean. Many sites across the west have no functioning water hose, broken handles on the water valve or located at inconvenient spots in the park. I was there less than 10 minutes. One mile from I-25. Lance was a super friendly attendant.

This play should be shut down! I called the fire department to check on its fire codes and the things that were wrong with the entire building and the fire chief ignored me they called the police on me when I tried to show them that there were fire hazards this place should not be state that it is not family friendly dogs are off their leashes people do not pick up their feces if you are miss fortunate enough to be by the dog walk you will be smelling feces and urine your entire time. There are no trees no honorees and no amenities this place does not even sell cokes ice or even the newspaper... There are many people that have been living there for years that have trash night around all over the place stay away.

MUST READ‼‼ I came to this place after 0130 in morning after…read moredriving 11 hours. I was exhausted and just wanted to shower and sleep. I get there and ring the doorbell. Out comes a old lady in a robe. Very strange lady at that. She checks me into the room and I pay my 58 bucks. I walk in and I immediately feel dirty, but it wasn't horrible when not looking close up. I get all of my belongings and food from my truck and take a shower. Huge pubic hair on wall. Gross but whatever. They had an outlet in bathroom that they tried to cover with what looked like putty so people wouldn't use it. Huge safety hazard. Whatever..... I'm tired. Shower was not too bad minus the gross hair. As I pull the blankets down I see several small roaches scatter. I couldn't believe it. This was only pulling comforter down. The sheets were still pulled up. I had to do it people, I pulled the sheets down and boom! I took pictures as you will see. I called the office. Old lady comes in and demands I show her where the roaches are. Of course they ran away, but I had the pictures! I show her and she says that that is not the hotels comforter!!!! Really? It matches my picture wth?!?! So then I show her the blood spots and dead bugs smashed in the sheets. She had nothing to say so she just walks out of the room and went back into the office. By now it is after 0230 in morning. As she walked out of the room she stated exactly this " You did what you wanted here and now you want to leave because you just wanted to shower." I'm left there standing like what do I do now? I pack my stuff up and load my truck. I go to office and ring bell..... then I ring bell again..... really? Oh wait, here she comes and she has her old man with her!!!! She opens the door and the husband lays into me. He yells " I don't know what kind of games your playing little girl but you need to leave now" he then states I planted the roaches in the bed all for a free shower at 0130 in the morning! I'm traveling from Colorado to Mississippi as travel nurse. I tell this to these two crazy people. They called me mean, they told me get out, I'm a liar, blah blah. Needless to say, I finally got my refund when they knew they weren't going to push me around. It was horrible. I ended up sleeping in my car at a rest stop. Put myself in danger. What a joke. Please stay away, especially those with kids. It's disgusting. I'll post if I don't end up with my refund.

You can leave your things out and no one touches it, even leave stuff in the back of your truck! Everyone follows RV park etiquette here because the rules are strictly enforced. And people watch out for each other and report any kind of rule breaking. Like when we did our first RV trip we didn't know you weren't supposed to drive through the site to check it first. And someone reported us. But they didn't throw us out on the spot because we didn't know, it was our first time in a RV. They gave us a break! Very kind people but we follow the rules so we won't get kicked out for sure because it's such a nice place! It's clean, there are walking trails clearly marked. There is a dog area. There are showers and laundry. What else do you need? Oh yes! A small store in the office! They have ice! So go there if you are looking for a place to stay in Elephant Butte and need access to surrounding areas!

We've stayed at Cedar Cove twice now and its a lovely park for our needs. Because of its close…read moreproximity, we spend our days at Elephant Butte Lake enjoying the water sports, and the evenings at Cedar Cove. Some positives - You are allowed to bring a wood fire ring, the convenience store, the bathrooms with showers are impeccable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rates are very reasonable and we love to stay in the premium back in sites that include a shaded patio next to your rig. The park is completely gravel and it gets a bit dusty. If you are looking for a nice place while you visit the lake and TorC, then I highly recommend!

They no longer have any trips to the Spaceport so that's a bummer but hopefully soon. Decided to stop by on the way back from White Sands National Monument towards I-40. Heard about it…read morefrom newmexico.org. It takes awhile to reach Chloride from I-25 but well worth it! We were the only ones there and the couple approached us and offered to give us a tour of the museum. The museum was excellent. The woman who gave the tour was great at explaining the various objects that were left behind back in the day. It felt like I stepped back in time! I like how they are renovating the town, yet keeping to the original character of the building. There's a gift shop which sells objects made by local artists. There's also a cafe, but was closed when we went (went on a Monday). There are latrines so bring hand sanitizer. Would definitely go back in the future when I'm in the area! Vistied July 2013
