Located not far off 50 Hwy, Montserrat Vineyards is a hidden gem. This is the second time I've stopped in, but this time I actually got to look around. From the front, it looks small, but if you walk around the back there are places for bands to play and plenty of seats for people to come and enjoy music or even just take in the scenery of the grapes or the hills (they say it's the tallest spot in the county). The guy working the counter is fabulous and made us laugh the entire time. The wines...the only bad I can say is I wish they made more. There were 5 different types of wine, all wonderful. I had a really hard time trying to decide which ones (yes plural) to get. Even with just a few wines, they have a wide variety for everyone. I will most definitely be coming back...and a great stop on the way to the lake! read more

Beautiful location. Easy to judge to try all of the wines. Liked the white and the semi sweet red. They have done a great job with making the Vineyard and deck area great for seating and enjoying a glass of wine. Very relaxing. Definitely a great place to stop. read more

Very knowledgeable and great customer service, the wine tasting was free for my husband, myself and two daughters. We tasted 5 wines. My daughters liked the Damifino which is a sweet red and the blanc which is a white. There is a 10% discount if you order 6 bottles of wine. The vineyard is in a beautiful location overlooking the countryside and is on the eastern side of the Kansas City wine trail, if you are looking to have a wine day. We were out here for baseball games on a hot day. Found this winery on yelp and decided to check it out. It's close off the highway so an easy stop. The winery is small and not fancy but it's genuine and casual. We tasted five wines and all were good. We've been to many (100+) wineries and thought these were good. We ended up purchasing a bottle of their table red which was very neutral and a bottle of Mont Blanc. Worth the stop! read more

Very rude owner! We were kicked out of a wedding reception at 10 p.m. when it was agreed upon that it would be open until 11p.m. (DJ was paid for until 11) No reason was given! This happened so abruptly and the owner said she was calling the cops, even though there was no obnoxious behavior that warranted the cops! The bride left crying on her special day that was cut short. Please do not waste your money here because it doesn't matter what the owner agrees to, she will apparently do whatever she wants and has no compassion about ruining a couple's magical day! read more

Methinks NOT! The wine selection is small and quite overpriced for what it tastes like. The place was a total mess. I have read a review somewhere that mentioned the smell of cat feces and my wife and I agree! We were distracted by the fowl odor indoors. We are pretty sure that is illegal to have animals in an establishment that serves food and beverage. We talked briefly with Kelly, who is running things since the owner is ill. We agree that the property has potential and are willing to return sometime in the future when it is properly cared for. read more

This is by far the worst place I have ever been too!!! The owner Kelly is the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered in my life!!! The place was dirty and not to mention she double booked the venue so there was a birthday party taking place as well, to which every single bridesmaids was verbally assaulted by the belligerent drunks attending the birthday party. There was a cat they were letting into the dressing room from the store area because we were keeping the outside door closed, that was snacking on the sub sandwiches and hanging out in our bags. A dog barking and running up in the middle of everything during the ceremony. The bride cried more than smiled. Kelly decided she was tired or something and shut us down early. Mind you she was very nice and professional until they ran the card and got their money then everything changed. They paid to be there until eleven and they kicked us out at 9:30. Kelly and her kids and some weird guy were going through our things throwing them outside. The one daughter told us we had been there long enough and to get the f*** out! Her underage children were serving alcohol. They sold the beer to guests that was already paid for by the bride and groom, they served one case of wine but the bride and groom paid for two!! Save yourself the trouble and stay away from this place, they are rude, unprofessional and liars. They will rip you off after they put on their I'm a good Christian show for you. Your party will be served by teenagers who are dressed in grunge clothes and stocking caps!! I will tell everyone I know about our experience with Montserrat winery in hopes to save the next person!! read more

We had my brothers wedding here on 9-13-14. First of all, the staff was all very rude, including the owner Kelly. Also, there was a dog running around during the ceremony, all over the brides dress, and through the crowd. We were under the impression we had the whole place to ourselves only to find out there was a drunken 40th birthday party there also. The owner had told all of us we had the place until at least 11 but when 9:15 rolled around we caught her and her employees throwing our stuff out of the room where the bridal party got ready. When asked what was going on she got irate and told my brother she was calling the cops. My brother had also purchased 2 cases (24 bottles) of wine and a keg of beer only to find out the bar was charging the guests for the alcohol. The bathrooms were disgusting and smelled horrible. When the cops showed up it scared my niece and nephews as they were scared my brother and sister in law were going to jail. After all was said we cleaned up all the wedding decorations, loaded up, and headed out. I will never go back to this venue. read more
