The seasoning was basic garlic butter, with black pepper to remove any fishy smell and enhance the aroma, resulting in a subtle creamy flavor overall. Mashed Potatoes with Gravy: The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy with a distinct buttery aroma. Unfortunately, the gravy was a bit too salty. Mixed Vegetables: Purely boiled vegetables, completely unseasoned, too bland. I used them to dip the mashed potatoes, which made it absolutely better. Fried Chicken Tender: Scalding hot. The item I purchased rang up at a higher price than what it said on the shelf. Never a good sign. Everything was really expensive, except for a few things on sale - like, I managed to find a single-serve yogurt on sale for $2.50 instead of $4.59. They have some bulk herbs and teas, but the selection is very, very limited. They have a couple water dispensers in back which is nice, but there's no price listed anywhere. I really want this kind of place to survive..... but it's just so pricey; and then the service wasn't great either.

Nice display. But, I didn't see any vitamin staff the whole time we were in the store. It could have been their break or maybe working in their back room. We were able to find what we needed. Nice display of flowers. The produce department looked clean. Certain areas were not full. The bulk department had nice displays. It took me awhile to find the refrigerated coconut water.

Noteworthy employees are Isadora and Anthony, many wonderful experiences in store asking questions and simply kind and supportive exchanges. Isadora specifically is very compassionate and empathetic I have noticed not only with my encounters with her but her encounters with other people. Anthony was especially supportive and empathetic through the renovation process. Many of the natural grocers independence employees have been supportive but there are so many great moments I have had in this store with my kids and I will continue to return. This company is serious about health, which shows in the fact that they refrigerate many liquid supplements and oils, nuts, seeds, etc. that other stores don't. They have the largest and best selection of high quality supplements I know of which are not all mixed in with trendy, non health items. Their own brand label products are wonderful in quality and reasonably priced. If you want a serious health store experience, come here!
